i have trouble believing the credibility of carmody's apparent "quote" though. i cant remember now who posted it up, but seeing as she makes a living out of being an author i doubt she would speak/write like that! It's genuine Jacinta. Isobelle assured us it was her when we met her at the launch of Little Fur. We're so lucky to have her as a member of our community!

Has anyone noticed that IC's profile on Penguin no longer has a scheduled release date for The Sending??? It doesn't even mention that she's working on it... (i know the last time I looked, they had it as due for release at the end of 2006). They now only mention the release of her children's books (which is cool, and yay for IC, but... *wails*) I'm hoping that it's just some ninny at Penguin has had a brain explosion and forgotten to put it on... (can someone please hold my hand? I don't think I make it much past October - I've only been waiting since 1988 to find out what happens!!!)

We're all here to hold your hand, good Scruffy. I've been waiting since 1989, so I feel your pain. Isobelle promised that if the book didnt' come out in October this year, then it would be out early next year at the latest. It's looking more and more like it's going to be a March 2007 launch, isn't it? It's probably not an easy book to write.

I imagine it's harder for IC to let it go than it is for us to wait... But still...

Grugness is good. And I think you're right - it's going to be harder for Isobelle to let go...

Have we discussed what colour the cover will be yet? I'm thinking a nice dark green, it would match up with the rest of the series ... but I guess that depends on which edition you have.

isobelle is probablytaking so long becasue she doesn't want to let go of the series. She probabaly wants the book to be the best for her finale of the series

That's a good question, AF. I'm not sure about the colour, but the picture I think will have something to do with the LotRQ...

We should have a competition to see who can design a cover that's closest to the actual one Of course we'd have to wait until the release of the book to find the winner...

That's a great idea, Frankie! The Sneding covers certainly proved there's a lot of talent on the boards. Maybe we could arrange a comp when we hear some news about the release date.

Does Penguin actually know of the existence of Obernewtyn.net? I wonder if we could try to tee up something with them for the launch... ie if they're wondering if anyone will turn up, perhaps they would be interested to know that there is an obssessive community of fans out there...

An interesting tidbit, I was on Wikipedia a few weeks ago and I had a squiz at the Obernewtyn section, and it has us listed. I thought that was pretty cool At least they know of our existance...

Thats a good idea! We need to appoint a representative to contact them... I've written a letter to Isobelle last week, asking if there's anyone we should be liasing with re: the launch. Hopefully if the letter makes it to her in good time, we'll have someone to talk to before it happens

It's actually just a link to this site. Oh well. But if you want a laugh, click on the link below, to the Internet Speculative Fiction Database. Wait, here's a link: www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/pe.cgi?The_Obernewtyn_ChroniclesYou'll notice that The Sending is supposed to have been released in 2004! LOL, have we all missed something?
