*shakes head at grunty* silly boy Well hopefully IC gets back to Min sooner rather than later, however it is very very tempting to call up penguin and interrogate someone.... prolly not the best idea lol!!! I hope IC got the draft finished before she went overseas.....

Maybe IC's holding out until next year. 2007 would be 20 years after Obernewtyn was published - a nice, round number to which to refer in the sense of "the Obernewtyn Chronicles were published over two decades" Actually, I don't think I'd mind that very much! *ignores glares from everyone else*

Someone said quite rightly the other day that if the MS isn't finished and at the publishers, which as far as we know it isn't. then the chances of publishing in September are pretty slim. I hate to say it, but methinks we won't have a book till 2007...

I was floating around another Obernewtyn message board, rather as I do here, and someone mentioned they'd emailed Penguin about the release date. The reply said that it's scheduled for March 2007.

We've been getting tentative release dates since 2001 I'm not going to believe the publishers anymore. I'll wait for Isobelle's letter.

When IC does release The Sending (yay can't wait ), do you reckon she'll just be at the book launch for her Melbourne fans, or do you think she'll visit the other capitals. Although, it would be a good excuse for members to travel Woo, if anything is being organised for the release, I'm sure we'll be all talking about it up here

Hey all, I received an email today from a kind visitor to our site (thanks Hannah! who also recently emailed Penguin asking about release dates. It seems March 2007 is still the current publisher's date for The Sending, but they had no info about Darkbane.

March 2007 sounds bearable to me.

I think most of us have started to accept that March 2007 is the more likely date, so I'm not too concerned. Also, anyone who lived through the trauma of the release of Ashling has pretty much given up all hope of ever reading the last book in the chronicles anyway. March gives us more to time to prepare for the huge launch party, so it's not all bad.

The Ashling release was a trauma? I would think The Keeping Place took ages to come out. But then, I started reading the OC a few months before Ashling came out, so enlighten me!

Well, basically (and I'll be short, because otherwise I tend to ramble and rant and get all angsty), everyone who'd read Obernewtyn and The Farseekers was busily waiting for the third and final book in the series to come out. It was going to be called The Keeping Place and it was going to finish everything up and leave us with a lovely glow of closure.
Instead, Ashling came out and we learned the series had been extended to five books, for which we'd have to wait years. Ten years later, we're still waiting.
Many of us are convinced that the fifth book won't actually finish the series and it will be extended again. We are resigned.

Many of us are convinced that the fifth book won't actually finish the series and it will be extended again. We are resigned. Hm, I hadn't thought of that, but I suppose it's possible. There seems to be an awful lot of loose ends to tie up, not to mention the fact that Elspeth doesn't even seem to have started her quest. But if The Sending were to be 1000+ pages, IC could finish the OC without leaving us shaking our fists in frustration.

Oh gods...please...no...please let The Sending be the last book. She's said it will be, so many times now. Besides, there's Darkbane and then the Before time Tril to write... *sits in corner rocking back and forth imagining having to wait another 10 years for a 6th Obernewtyn book & conclusion*

I don't know if i could do it.
Okay, i know i would do it, so let me see if i can rephase that
i think IC would have to change her accepting of letters to be passed on because she'd be getting a fair understanding of how much all this waiting is effecting me.
how can people expect you to hang on for so long? I want to grow up! i dearly want to be able to step back from Young Adult fiction, she's not letting me break away!!!!!!!!!
*breathes*
*gets out paper bag and tries to calm down*
*joins Minn in the corner*
