Start saving, Tal!! It'll be the big Melb-event for all of us when IC launches it! Leaving Brisbane open as the next major capital to do NYE in Grunty, check around the boards and see if there are any more US members. I know Elspethseeker is (another mystic!). The reason I mentioned Britain is because there's about 6-7 members over that way, and shipping all at once would reduce the shipping costs substantially. It wouldn't be worth us organising shipping to a place with 1-2 people there. You'd pay less just getting them to ship it from an online shop. |

Roz was saying at NYE that she's had a letter from IC saying that she's finished the 1st draft, I think. Roz, can you confirm that for me? So that's progress...Squarmi Sorry... I should have posted this here earlier. Yes, that's right. She said the first draft is just about done but then it's a matter of getting it edited. She's just about to go on a trip to India (might be there already) and was hoping to have the first draft done before she went. I wouldn't imagine it would take long to have completed the first draft, as she had so many notes, but tightening it up etc might take a bit longer. Another thing, she has finally signed a deal with the publishers for the Beforetime Chronicles, but she didn't say how many books it would be. Hope that's good news for you guys! I'm very excited ;D  |

That is good news, The Beforetime Chronicles sounds like itll be as good as oc, maybe better and the sending coming out soon- good news too. I am so excited....

Yeah, i agree. it does sound good, but still, it won't be Obernewtyn. i'm in no hurry for it to be released. i love developing theories, and we won't be able to do that once it's all resolved, right?

No, there's no word of an Obernewtyn movie, but you might be interested in looking at the ideal movie casts that people have been putting together on the Theories Board. A while ago, there were plans to make a movie of The Gathering but nothing came of it, alas. |

In regards to IC novels being made into movies, I had heard rumors a while back that some people were poking around her short story, "The Phoenix" (from Green Monkey Dreams) to translate into a movie. Might not have gone anywhere either, but it indicates that people are interested in translating some of her work.
The Gathering project was talked about / tentatively planned for about 6 years, but then fell through like a lot of Hollywood things do...

Don't fear Auro...We'll always have the books. If they make a movie and you're dead against it existing just don't see it I'd be facinated to see a movie made out of a couple of IC's Green Monkey Dreams stories...some of them would translate really well, I reckon. |

Short stories or short novels make the best movies because the plots are (generally speaking) not very complicated, so there is room for some addition and meanderings. Complex plots, like Obernewtyn (though not necessarily the first book) result in movies where the pace is extremely fast - too fast for some.
