well, i know some people might not like this thread very much because some things might be really personal, but you can always post anonymously or something! but i find it interesting to know what people are afraid of and why. anyone got any phobias?? i want to know!! i cant think of what i'm afraid of most. obviously loosing someone who i care about the most. i also hate conflict. i think i'm also developing claustrophobia (is that possible?? oh well, it is now) but i think i could get over these things... so what about you guys??? heights?? scary dreams?? lightning??

lol@Arien's emus. Yeah I can understand that.
I'm afraid of spiders and snakes. I'm also scared of sudden loud noises (and thunder.) And I'm mildly agoraphobic. I'm afraid of unfamiliar men, and I don't like to go out at night.
But my biggest phobia is going insane.

I have mild claustraphobia and fear of heights. Nothing drastic, but I don't like dark small places. Like tunnels. Although I'm also a bit of a hypocrite in that respect, cause I also really like going through tunnels, especially when they have mud in them...
I also REALLY like snakes and spiders and stuff like that. Which freaks a lot of people out...
And I like needles too. Not like I go a get a needle for everything or anything weird like that, but I love watching them go in when I do get them. Except when i got one in my hand. That hurt.

Agoraphobia is a fear of open spaces.
I don't like going out of my house (especially at night) and I'm very uncomfortable around crowds. And men. I'm really scared of men. (If you're wondering why, NO, there is no special reason for my fear of men. Nothing happened to make me scared of them. It's a totally irrational phobia.)

Greatest Fears? Got an hour...well I don't wither so here are the main ones. 1. Heights....well actually falling, i love being up high 2. Some I love dying...or somedying because I wanted them too...like i was in a grumpy mood and started cursing everyone I could think off. 3. Spiders that hang around public toilets. 4. I'm claustraphobic...I used to hate those tunnels in the playgrounds...I was so afraid of being stuck 5. Not being able to breathe. 6. Being isolated form everyone and everything I love. and my final fear is: 7. Forgeting how to read and not being able to finish the Obernewtyn series.

Alright, here's my list:
* Spiders - I just can't stand them. Snakes I don't mind, but spiders? No way. * Like a lot of people, I have claustrophobia. However, my claustrophobia isn't a fear of small places - it's a fear of being trapped in a small space with no obvious way out. Yeah, I know - odd. * Heights. I think this is something to do with my rubbishy depth-perception * Big dogs. I was once almost attacked by a rottweiler. * Grandfather clocks (I have no idea why)

The list is kinda big for me
1. Dark. I think the dark is crawling with all the monsters out of every book I have ever read. I won't get out of bed, cause I am too afraid. 2. Authors not finishing books. That is freaky!! 3. Sharks. Horrible things. I was out on my floaty whale one day, when I saw an ominous fin gliding my way. Swallowing copious amounts of water, I slowly swam to shore. It turned out to be a dolphin, apparently. 4. Snakes. Don't like em, never will. 5. I don't like not being able to move. Having a severe crick in my neck, like the other night, and not being able to move, was like hell to me. 6.Lots of homework. *shivers*
I think that is it. Anyone have any similar fears? Now I feel like a fool.

Wow, I didn't realise everyone's fears are so similar to my own. - Spiders...EEK! If there's a spider in the room, I can't move, I just sit there and watch it for fear of it hiding if I leave. Plus I had a big one drop on my face from the ceiling when I was 8. *hides*
- Heights. Kind of. It's strange, I'm fine if I know that I'm secure - planes are ok, bridges are ok. Get me on a gondala (like Queenstown or Seaworld) and I'm a shivering wreck. I call it more a fear of falling than a fear of heights.
- Ending up like my parents very long story but it's made me work a lot harder...
- Recently, being alone. I used to love it, but not anymore. I'm totally over being in my unit by myself, it's creepy.
That'll do for now

I LOVE snakes... If I could I'd be a snake wrangler and travel the world studying them... But it's an expensive hobby! I'm not scaried of any spaces big or small or height or needles (I used to be but them I have to have surgery earlier this year and I soon learnt to get over them) or sacred of other things that everybody else has listed (esp. not emus! ) BUT I have a HUGE fear of success... Bizzare hey?! It verges on fear of the unknown and it has contributed to me being somewhat of an under achiever at times... The whole thing is hard to explain... p.s. Min... If you have a spider and you're close to phone call me and i'll come and exterminate it... It doesn't scare me!

Thanks Glynna seriously I once had a spider in my bedroom, I stayed up all night just watching it, then finally threw a shoe at it, screamed a bit and ran for the vacuum cleaner to get rid of it. They're just awful *shudders* Brydie, I'm also really intrigued - why did the lorikeet attack?

I knwo the feelign min. I freak out abotu spiders too, and if I see one I wont take my eyes off of it...either that or I'll shriek and run from the room and not go back for hours. I alwasy make someone esle go in and either get rid of it, or make sure its safe. the rest of my list includes crowds. I started cryign when we went to Sydney with school a few years ago and we went on the Titanic ride at Fox. One version of it leaves you in a smallish very dark room and really close to everyoen else. It's meant to emulate what it was liek for the poor peopel when they were tryign to evacuate. I was so freaked. I was grasping my best friends hand and she ended up with nail marks in her hand that didn't go away all day. I'm mildly claustrophobic heights Um...I think thats it. Oh, and being buried alive. It comes from reading Edgar Allen Poe

My fears: 1) Going blind. If i go blind, i won't be able to read. That would be torture. 2) Heights. Oh, i hate heights... 3) I used to be afraid of the dark, but i'm not anymore... Unless i've just been reading a ghost story of something... 4) Fighting with people. I've had been experiences with b!tch fights, so i try to be nice to everyone so i don't have to fight with them. Weird, but thats me I think thats all. Oh, i'm afraid of my nextdoor neighbours dog. It attacked me. *glares in the direction of the nextdoor neighbours dog*
