Hey all!
Something on the "What annoys you" thread made me forget to mention one of my phobias. I'm kinda getting over it, but I'm still afraid of...
Metal.
Clean metal is usually fine. I can't stand the SMELL of metal, and I hate the feel of metal against my skin, and I don't like to look at it either.
I have to wash my hands if possible, when I touch anything metallic, ie. keys, money.
Of course it's the kind of phobia no one will believe, so I can't tell anyone. My Mum is always making me touch metallic things and I hate it. I want to scream and get the horrid stuff away from me, but I'm not able to without telling my Mum, who will promptly have me commited.
Hate metal. Ick! Yuk!

Wow - me too! I hate metal. The worst metal is the stuff they make tins of dog food from. Urck! I hardly wear jewellery at all, but I don't seem to mind gold that much. Perhaps it's more of a mineral than a metal. I avoid metal door handles - I'll push the wooden bit on the door instead. If I have to pull the door open, I wrap my sleeve around my hand before I touch the metal. I thought I was the only one! And Kayt, just like you, I've never told anyone because I thought they'd think I was just being stupid!

Oh my god!!!
I hate metal door handles too!!!!! And I don't wear jewellery at all. Under any circumstances.
And cutlery. Thankfully, most of our cutlery is just plain straight, metal handled. But I hate anything with a pattern on it. I can't eat from something that's patterned!!!
*massive hugs*
Hurrah for neither of us being mental!!!

I don't like metal spoons. They just erk me...
All my friend have a fear of having to go to hospital. I've been to hospital for various reasons about a million times so i don't have any fear of hospitals. Or needles. I'm not afraid of needles, either.

I don't like nail files. The sound of them. Or of terracotta scraping. But it's not a big thing. And, besides which, I don't like filing my nails anyway, cause I can't be bothered and I don't care what my nails are doing.
I like metal though, and I like needles, and I LOVE spiders and snakes. Especially spiders. They're SOOOO awesome.
On a complete side not that has nothing to do with this thread, I went to the shoe today and they had Ragdolls, and I'm getting a Ragdoll in December and they're SOOO gorgeous. (Btw, ragdoll is a breed of cat)

My brother hates the nail-file thing. I don't really mind it myself, but of course I hate the nails-scraping-down-the-blackboard thing, too. I also hate lighting gas ovens - it seems incredibly dangerous and life-threatening to me.

We have a special reading room in my library for those sorts of classes. The Years 7, 8 and 9 students all come into a lovely little room and sit on nice, comfy chairs and... well, some of them read.

I've just remembered two more of my fears.
I hate ants. I don't mind them if there just crawling around on the ground, but if they crawl on me.... ergh... This fear comes from when i was little i decided to investigate behind a sheet of metal in the backyard. So i squeezed behind it and promptly got covered in ants. *shudder*
I also hate climbing up ladders. This also comes from when i was little. I climbed up a ladder, fell down, and had to get stiches in my arm. Damn ladders.

Gattaca. I loved that movie, it was awesome. But very freaky. I wanna get a copy... Brave New World the bit where they're creating the babies is freaky.
Another book about the same sort of stuff, but it's not as in-depth, is The Giver by Lois Lowry. We read it last year. And then for an extension activity I compared it to The Handmaid's Tale, but I can't remember who that's by. But it's all about the same stuff. Everybody being the same, or being some form of the same. Set rules. Freaky.
