It is really interesting reading this whole thread at once. It's like a mini demonsration of how it's been for years, with several different release dates getting pushed back further and further gradually.
I have my copies of Ober and Ashling signed, cos those are the only 2 I had when I went to the SWF back in like 2000, or maybe it was 2001. Anwyas I'd love to get the ther 2 signed.

*holds breath* IC is going to be in Melbourne for Convergence 2, June 8th - 11th, 2007. For those that don't know (& I didn't), Convergence 2 is the the National SF Convention.... So... IC is going to be in Melbourne in June 2007, at a Sci-Fi Convention. All evidence seems to be pointing to a 2007 release for the The Sending... Coincidence? I think not... www.austlit.edu.au/run?ex=ShowDirectoryEvent&tid=20-

Hehe... My thought exactly, Min - if the book is launched that week (which is what I'm now betting on), then we'll be there! And if the book has already been launched, then it's a good excuse to go and babble insanely at IC about how nothing we thought would happen did happen and that we *knew* ABC was the Destroyer all along, and if it's not released then we can just yell at her until she caves in and gives us all copies of the draft version.
*happy dance*

I was hoping to be in Melbourne then anyway, this seems like a pretty good excuse, only i hope to hell that my exams aren't on that week. Knowing my luck :S

And anything but September and October as well!
Wow... wouldn't that be cool if she released The Sending then.
Of course it will be freezing that time of year...

I love wearing jeans No, I mean I'll be away overseas in September so she can't release it then I was talking about the cold in June, when she'll be in Melbourne for the Convergence 2 sci fi convention from June 8th to 11th... in case she happens to release The Sending at the same time.

*crosses fingers* Flit, when I read this the other day, I had sinking feeling.... Today I got the academic calendar for next year. My major mid year exam is scheduled for sometime in the week of June 11th... *stamps feet* It's just not fair...

I am sorry but I am going to have a whinge----
June is not nearly soon enough- I thought it would be out by now and I am dangerously close to chucking a very immature tantrum in the middle of the office-
*lies on the ground, banging her limbs screaming "I want the Sneding now." Subsequently office security throws her out and she is fired*

I just visited the IC board at allscifi.com and the lastest poster there says that the Sending will now probably be coming as two book as IC can't fit all the info she wants into one. so part one will be out next year and part two the year after. She says it is still being edited which pretty much rules out a March launch date and bumps the release of Darkbane to 2009 or 10. the poster says she met IC in a cafe in Prague and had a good chat to her. I have asked my Aunt to let me know when it is at the printers (her daughter works there) which should give me some idea of when it will be relaesed. I'm with Larana here...having a tantrum on my study floor...lucky no-one is home to see me. cheers

I read that post on Allscifi too Deb and i didnt quite know whether to be happy about it or not. It sounds like an awesome read if IC has to make it two books....but the date is pushed back....though really i shouldnt complain because while while some fans *points to Bunne's post* have been waiting for sixteen years, i have only been waiting for 5.

Deb, you have got to be joking. Bunne, didn't this happen last time? Ashling / TKP were supposed to be the last in the series initially too, weren't they...? *rocks back and forth at the prospect of having to wait 10 more years for the conclusion*Walking around the bookstores last night I just kept frowning looking at the sci-fi / fantasy section...going "I just want it to be here, now..." You know the whole Uber-impossible Ober Question "what's the sixth book called?" was supposed to be a joke/impossible

Yes, Min, it did. Ashling was supposed to be the last book in the trilogy before it was extended to five books. Turks, Rig and I already predicted this - months ago, we said we'd bet anything that when the fifth book came out, we'd all find out the series had been extended to seven books. But we haven't heard anything officially official yet, so there might still be hope.

I think I might expire by the time the series is finally finished and will have to rely on my granchildren finishing it for me...and i don't have any grandchildren yet. I have been reading these books for 18 years now and really really want to find out how they end. (excuse yet another tantrum) I don't mind the idea of two more books but I WANT THEM YESTERDAY! (do you think I shouted loud enough for IC to hear me.) If I hear anything from the printers I will post it here pronto. cheers

She can't have two books, that's just talk. It'll just be a supersize book, that's all

Post by Dark One on Dec 15, 2006 22:56:58 GMT 11
Im hoping it is one supersize book. Each subsequent book in the Ober series is larger than the last (its the same with the Potter books), so hopefuly it will be just one book. However, if it is two books then it will keep our theories section going for another year

But we haven't heard anything officially official yet, so there might still be hope. I thought it was a trilogy, but this was in 2000 and because it obviously couldn't end with the Farseekers. I actually hope it will be extended, I'm so much more interested in the struggle to free the land from the tyranny of the Council/Herders and gain equal rights for the Misfits/Beasts than Elf's destiny. I really want to hear more about the world and I'm looking forward to seeing the land of the Red Queen. Also I just finished 'The Keeping Place' (and this is the first time I've ventured into this thread for fear of spoilers). I'm in Obernewtyn withdrawl, hold me.

The problem is that if there is another book, I'm gonna be 40 and giving it to my so far non-existent kids to read for themselves before it's finished.
*cries at the prospect of having to wait that long*
She really can't do that to us. Maybe we should spam her with pm's until she tells us what is going on, we are her fan club! We should be finding this stuff out FIRST!
