Sounds like a good idea, but if one of us members outside Aus wins it'd cost you a fortune in postage!

Depends on what you win! It could be something online-related, eg and obernewtyn.net email address or something for guessing the right date

*twitches* Uuuh, I swear it's still coming out in like, a few weeks.. I checked in at the Dymocks where I lived, and they confirmed it, and I even placed an order..

Really?
I went into Angus and Robertson last Saturday and they told me they had no record of it, so it wouldn't be coming out anytime within the next three months. I might give Dymocks a go and see what they have to say.
fingers crossed. :-)

Okay my date is the 7th of July 2007, although my TOTALLY obessed Harry Potter Fan already has that date named as the release of the 7th Harry Potter book.
Personally, I'd prefer it to be the 5th Obernewtyn book.

Dymocks may be taking orders... but the book isn't even written yet. It's a bit hard for a book to be released in a few weeks if it hasn't even been written. Plus, this is going to be a big deal in the Young Adult fiction realm in Australia, and there is bound to be a big lead up to it. As Isobelle Carmody isn't booked for any events in the coming future (is she even in the country??) I doubt there would be any coming release of any of her stories.
Sorry guys, but it's looking like a next year release, if at all.
Apparently the Harry Potter book is being looked over by editors as we speak. This could be hype and totally incorrect, but it would be lovely if that was the truth.... so tired of waiting for people to finish books!

Well that sucks.
How do you know it hasn't been written? I thought it was finished and being reviewed/edited by publishing people?
I do agree that they're will probably be a big lead up to it. It deserves it! I'm surprised there isn't more recognition of IC or the O-C among teenagers and young adults. I hope the last book gets heaps of recognition, which will prompt others to pick it up.
All we can really do until then is keep speaking up about how much we love the books, so everyone, when they do wake up to IC's genius, will know we liked her first. hahaha! ;D

June 2007 is the date for the New HP release providing there are no unplanned hold ups.
And I can definitely say that The Sending will not be out before Christmas. The New Release lists come out at least 3 months in advance and it's not there. There's also a website that many (most?) bookstores use that's updated almost every day that lists new books and their planned release dates, sometimes up to 6 months in advance, but generally whenever the release has been confirmed with some degree of finality. Although for smaller and non-Australian releases the dates can still differ by up to a month untill things get confirmed.
I've been keeping a close eye on it and our Penguin rep knows not to come and visit us, or even give us a call without beign armed with the latest official word. That's all I can tell you so far. There is no release date officially planned yet. There are only a few dates they're playing around with and considering.

here's an interesting thought? what would you be willing to do if you could get the Sending right now? Personally I would watch Crossroads and Glitter back-to-back in slow motion for a whole solid month if I could get the Sneding now

I guese it will come out when it comes out

Thanks for that update Eth!! It's great to know we have someone on the inside with direct access to Penguin publishers! And I'm putting bets on next year. There's no reason it can't come out next year, right? Didn't IC say the first draft has been completed? She doesn't have anything else due out for release next year yet, does she?

Nope, there's nothing due for release from her. But 'This Way Out' is currently listed as reprinting, which is exciting. Also, did everyone know that the audio versions of Little Fur and A Fox called Sorrow are read by IC? I hadn't realised till the other day when I had to check about something else. So I immediately ordered them

I just found this on sf.penguin.com.au/fantasy/default.cfm?type=fantasy which says, "ISOBELLE CARMODY'S FIFTH BOOK IN THE OBERNEWTYN CHRONICLES, THE SENDING WILL BE PUBLISHED IN 2007. BE SURE TO CHECK BACK HERE FOR ALL THE LATEST NEWS."... which tells us what we assummed after this year is almost over and as yet we havent really heard anything...but it doesnt give any specifics as yet, as it isnt known yet i dont think...

I was a very lucky girl this weekend. I was on a mini holiday at Lorne with my cousin and we decided that Apollo Bay wasn't all that far away and while my cousin was off looking at clothes, I went to the local bookshop. I got SIGNED copies of the winter door, the cat dreamer, angel fever, the gathering and scatterlings. I already have some of them but thought it was worth the expence to have signed copies. The lady there was very chatty and very informative. According to her IC was in the shop back in June and was just finishing up the last few pages of the sending and that it is due to be released in March 07....here's hoping she's right. She also said that IC commented about Obernet, said it was great. How good is that!!!! cheers

Yay! I always love hearing IC talk about us!
So there you go! There is absolutely no way she'd release it and not let us know about it! She emailed us about Little Fur, so she'd deffinetly email us about The Sending.
So, March or July... I hope its released around school holiday time, other wise that week my class will be doing alot of silent reading! Me included! Tehehe!

Oh thats great! i think i can wait a bit longer (i mean, whats another 8 months on top of how many years?)
I love my signed copies of IC books! I have the 1988 release of Ober (yes the one with the ugly cover) signed, scatterlings, the gathering and the farseekers!
Yah! cannot wait to read it!
its funny - the woman in Dymocks knows me now. She sees me coming, and i swear she sighs.
i say, "any word?"
and she replies, "nope. nothing"
and thats that. but i know that she is a big IC fan herself...
