Has anyone else heard this or is it false but I thought No Doubt were rumoured to be getting back together to make a new album. My favourite song of theirs is Trapped in a Box cos it so sums up school life and inspired me to write a similar thing. lol, and enter it into a poetry competition!

Also, wasn't he the lead singer for the Weird Sisters in the HP4 movie? ;D He was indeedy. Loved watching the full version of the on the dvd, but think I would've got a bit bored in the cinema Oooo, Pendulum played at my Student Union a few months ago and were absolutely awesome! One of the best nights out of my first year!
I'm going through a Wham! phase at the moment - so cheery! Listen to them on your commute to work and I guarantee you'll have a happy day at work ;D

so i guess i should put away my hair-spray, peroxide, lyrca, lace and ankle socks till then?? and i have a personal vendetta againts She-Ra...i was the only girl in our 'club' when i was young, and we always used to play He-Man. my mate had all the figurines, he had Battle Cat, Skeletor's castle, all the bits. well, they always made me be She-Ra, cause i was the only girl...and i always wanted to be Skeletor. so one day i had a big tantrum, threw the Skeletor castle out of the treehouse, stole the Skeletor doll and ran away. well, i had to give the doll back and apologise (stupid mum - could not see the injustice - she was so not a bra-burning feminist...) and i was banned from the treehouse for ages! Stupid boys... did anyone else use to sing "boys are weak, chuck em in the creek, girls are strong, like King-King" in the playground?

Ah, I used to insult tha guys at any ahnce I could get. Unfortunately, I can't anymore, 'cos guys take up three quarters of my friends list *sigh*. I've always liked rock, but I've started to like some dance, techno and the like. Also pop. Mum got me on classical music, and I don't know how.

My tastes in music are very ranged but mainly have a rock base. The bands that I I have in my music collection are as follows: - Breaking Benjamin
- Creed
- Gorillaz
- Lifehouse
- Linkin Park
- Matchbox 20
- NickelBack
- P.O.D. (aka Payable On Death)
- Relient k
- Soulframe
- Switchfoot
- Third Day
- U2
The list above is just what I have on my albums I've ripped to my computer and PDA. I have more music of which I really need to get to ripping but I'm slack and lazy

I don't really think my taste in music can be categorised... I'll listen to anything and everything. Excluding rap/hip-hop. I can't stand that.
Just to name a few; Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes, Meat Loaf, Queen, Pink Floyd, ABBA, Billy Joel, Midnight Oil, The Screaming Jets, Wham!, The Skyhooks, The Eagles, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Status Quo, Thirsty Merc, Bryan Adams, Coldplay, Matchbox Twenty, Counting Crows, U2, REO Speedwagon, The Whitlams, Reel Big Fish.
Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Buble, Eva Cassidy, The Rat Pack, The Manhattan Transfer, Dizzy Gillespie, Scott Joplin
Halvdan Sivertsen, Gåte, Kaizers Orchestra, Seigmen, Kari Bremnes, Lumsk (Norwegian), Acda en de Munnik (Dutch) (Ok, I have a thing for cool languages)
I LOVE music theatre. A few I like in particular include 'Songs for a New World', 'Les Miserables', 'The Secret Garden' (Australian Cast) and 'Wicked'. Also all things 'classical', but I have a soft spot for Vivaldi, Dvorak and Paganinni
And yeah... So many more that it would just take too much time to list..

Timm: Glad you're back. Where've you been?
80s people: so many of us are children of the 80s. I bags Astro Boy for my 80s themed Avatar.
Music: Ahem. I'm not into rock at all, really. I'm a dance teacher in my spare time, so I love dance music. And I mean real dance music, not techno club stuff that you can only appreciate when you're up to your eyeballs in ecstasy. So I love a lot of movie soundtracks - particularly Lord of the Rings. And I utterly adore Enya. Obsessively.
I'm also an obsessive fan of Enigma and Delerium. My favourite song in the whole world is Silence by Delerium (featuring Sarah McLachlan - the Sanctuary Mix, the one you hear on the radio sometimes).
I also love Groove Armada and Morcheeba and Evanescence.
And am I the only person on Obernet that's really into hip hop music? Oh no, wait, Elixa likes this too. Where are you, Lix? Back me up!
Oh... Emma-Jayde, you said you don't like rap/hip hop. Well I don't like some of the misogynistic rubbish, but some stuff is really cool. I love Destiny's Child and Mary J Blige and Lauryn Hill. And some of the Aussie hip hop groups are really cool

Yeah.... Nah. I'm a singing teacher on top of being a music student... Rap/hip-hop is just something I've never been able to get into; I haven't heard a piece I like yet.
*Shrugs* Everyone is different though, so hey, we're not all going to like the same types of music.

Ah... well that explains it. I can't sing at all... completely hopeless. I have a really weird voice. So singing-type songs I can't get into, just anything you can dance to (especially really dramatic, emotional stuff).
Just a comment, by the way. I'm presuming that most/all of us on this site are big fantasy fans? What would you define as fantasy-type music?
Coz surely we all relate to songs that are similar to the sorts of books we read? I'm wondering if anyone's list above includes stuff that they feel is similar to the stuff they read.
I remember Brydie saying ages ago that she felt the first Evanescence album reminded her a lot of Obernewtyn and I have to say I really agree.
Anything else remind you of fantasy books or Obernewtyn?

wow- i must be the only person on the planet without a CD collection. poor sad me then huh? i pretty much listen to anything and everytihng. at the moment i really like Dido. i have a cd collection. unfortunately i didnt mind most of them and they are all damaged. i love dido too, no angel and hunter and athat left at dawn.. return no more one and that one i cannaot sleep.. until you're rested here with me. there is lots of 80s music i like. ace of base have soem great songs, young and proud and don't turn around for example. i like the eighties song dying in your arms tonight by the cutting crew. i like lots of music. msotly i dont know the names of the songs and who it's by. i remember when we had the seventies party. i wanted it to be an eighties party. i totally missed the seventies. and i like a lot of eigthies music and have seen some eighties tv shows. the seventies party was great.

Acda en de Munnik (Dutch) Interesting - I never really warmed to Acda en de Munnik that much (I lived in NL from 1997-2005), but the song about splitting the CD collection - De Kapitein (deel 2) - was funny. Abel had a few decent songs before it imploded. And I know you don't like rap, but Ali B writes some very clever lyrics and is instrumental in bridging the Muslim/non-Muslim divide in the Netherlands at the moment. At the end of the day, I guess you have to sing in English to be internationally recognised; i.e. Kane, The Gathering, Within Temptation, After Forever, etc. I still don't quite understand why many Dutch bands end up being goth.

I have to jump on the 80's bandwagon, I love it! I cannot really pin point my taste in music, it is quite wide and varies. I love Enya to pieces (my first Enya CD is literally falling apart), I can listen to much of the 80's music quite easily. I love a decent drum beat (techno doesn't count). I love watching the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (esp. the bagpipes and drums). One artist I do love though is John Farnham. I grew up with his music because Mum was a huge fan, and I quite enjoy listening to his songs (mostly the older songs). So that is a partial representation of my taste in music. Oh, and I like Christmas carrols...... =P

i think i am becomming alarmingly out of touch with popular music today...*grabs walking frame, staggers over to the CD player and puts on some Wendy Rule * my kids at school are always asking - cause i'm a young teacher - do i know this song or that band, and i have no idea what they are talking about! half the bands you guys have mentioned i don't know... my tastes are a bit obscure - i like rock, but old school rock, 70's mainly, i like hip-hop, but no American stuff - its obscene and i feel offended by some of the lyrics. i like trip-hop, breaks, drum and bass, love Celtic and African music. cannot stand pop. hate it hate it hate it! blah! and i love dance music - not wussy little beats and techno, but real hard-core dance. heaps of my mates are DJ's, and i love what they do. they are so talented, they use vinyl, not CD's, and its fantastic. i have two mates who DJ together with four decks going at once! its awesome! oh and i like bluegrass country...
