Hey Crazyangel, don't listen to those Ashlings... join the Wanderers guild! Have you finished Farseekers yet? You might want to avoid any of the theories threads until you've finished all four books because it might ruin things for you. But the books keep better! And as soon as you've finished, jump onto the theories site because there'll probably be some stuff that will surprise you... hey thanx....but nah im a it shouldnt matter wat guild we're in neway! yeah i have avoided the theories thread, and at ne mention of a book i havent read fully i shut my eyes and scroll lol yes ive finished farseekers and im 3/4 way through ashlings so itz pretty good! Haha thanks Roz. I did know about the Obernewtyn play but I don't know if they'll ever produce it in Melbourne...if they do I spose I'll give it a go. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I always say. Thanks Mornir-K. My hair is a few shades lighter than it appears in that picture. It's been run through a filter and was taken in bad lighting anyway. hang on I think I have some betters ones of myself... Hahaha here's me looking a bit Ariel-esque...well not really... actually on second thoughts I don't resemble anything even remotely connected to the O-chron. But it's sort of darker and more mysterious than anything I'd usually wear which reminds me of Ariel...I guess if I wore a hood I could pull of Ariel in the council court lol. myspace-644.vo.llnwd.net/01206/44/65/1206255644_l.jpgmyspace-344.vo.llnwd.net/01206/44/35/1206255344_l.jpgme looking a lot more like my normal self (complete with slack jawed, dumb blond gawk) myspace-694.vo.llnwd.net/00792/49/67/792627694_l.jpgEdit: Images are all too large, img tags removed ~ Elspeth

Haha, yeah do it all the time I'm not really a shy one... well depends what mood I'm in Interesting piccy's arielli - lol you'd wanna hope that they get a movie/TV show out soon so you don't grow to old for the part How's your acting, do you reckon you could act the part out well, I mean sure you're a model, so I guess you wouldn't really get stage fright.

Hi, I'm (obviously) a newbie here.
Just ran into Obernewtyn.net while looking around the Internets for information on Obernewtyn in general and the fifth book in particular. The Obernewtyn Chronicles have always been one of my favourite series, so I decided to join up. The Keeping Place is definitely my favourite Obernewtyn book - I think that they get better as they go on, in general - I'm an Adelaideian , as should be obvious from my profile. I'm a uni student there - Software Engineering, so I get to play with computers all day, basically.
As for guilds, I've marked down the Mystics on the Obernewtyn.net registration, for now, but I'm not really sure which one, if any, I'll end up in. Looking around the information pertaining to the various guilds, I discovered that the Wanderer's homepage link from the main page is currently dead - not sure if you know this already. Anyway, I intend to see what the various guilds are about for now before I end up jumping into one.
My username... well, it's a long story. Basically, it's all capitalised, it's an acronym - HAD. Not sure if it'll display capitalised, though, due to Technical Limitations.
Hobbies and interests include programming, screwing around with computers in general (duh), playing videogames of various descriptions (Primarily nintendo stuff), and reading fantasy and sci-fi books (duh).
Favourtie OC character is a difficult one, though... Hmm... Ariel is evil, manipulative, and generally cool because of this, but Garth is a Teknoguilder. Toss up between those too.
Warning - I have been known to possess strong opinions on religion, paranormal stuff, and science. I'm also known to be incredibly argumentative. Poke at your own peril.

Welcome Had! Looking around the information pertaining to the various guilds, I discovered that the Wanderer's homepage link from the main page is currently dead - not sure if you know this already. *cough* Homepage? What homepage? *looks innocent* One day, something will be done about that... One day... I'm sure you'll find heaps of people here who are just as argumentative as you Have fun

My strong opinions on "the paranormal" involve repeatedly pointing out that it's irrational junk, 'm afraid. Religion too. Science, however, is very much something I enjoy. ;P

Science ewwww! Sorry I'm a maths kinda gal myself. I think that everyone has strong opinions about religion and paranormals etc. It probably depends on what you believe in and how you were brought up to believe it, I guess. But I'm hoping that if you actually saw something paranormal happening you would not say it's irrational junk. In a way everything's irrational junk. Well I hope you like this site and if you want more info about the mystics and our shiny crystals you should check out the Mystics cavern, I'd tell you the address but I can't remember what it is.

Ah, Maths. Like the boring bits of physics but without the good stuff. It's not just that I have strong opinions, I suppose, it's that I actively enjoying arguing about this stuff. It occasionally leads to annoyance, but I try not to go that far. Oh, of course. If that happened, I'd be somewhat flummoxed, confused, and wrong. But the phrase "if that happened" is the key bit here, unfortunately. I have been looking around the Mystic's Cavern - and the other (extant) guild websites - and from what I've seen, the Mystics seem the most interesting to me so far. But I'd still like to wait a while and make sure - it's just a matter of being certain I'm ending up in the right place.

Ah, Maths. Like the boring bits of physics but without the good stuff. A man after my own heart! (I'm a particle physicist). Welcome to Obernet! Here's to many interesting scientific discussions. (And welcome all other newbies - I'm a bit slow off the mark these days, but I hope you all have lots of fun here)

The mystics have WAY too many members as it is join the Ashlings... well actually I think the Wanders lack numbers the most... not to sure... Anyways HAD welcome to Ober-net. Science is a great study choice If you like to argue, I guess check out the theories thread, there's always some fun there Lol, everyone likes Ariel - I don't think that's what Isobelle intended in creating this evil, manipulative character. I know, it's because he's well developed... but then again he's not mentioned THAT much :S Have fun here

Lol, I think most people in general love to be called good-looking or hot - haha it's good for the self-esteem Arielli, with all the pro-Ariel fans here, you may need to bat away them fan-girls and HAD I agree - evil, there is more depth to it usually, sometimes the protagonist is just too predictable. Ariel is just so mysterious - and how could you not resist and mysterious character!! ... it's probably some of the reason why Elspeth has rather large group guys that like her (Gilbert, Matthew, Dameon, Rushton...)

Elspeth is a bloody idiot. That's my main problem with the character. She just can't see things right in front of her - she always needs Maruman, or the Agyllians, or the Teknoguilders, or the Gypsies, or Sadorians, or whatever to find out something and tell her that she should have known fifty pages ago. It's quite annoying.

I see your opinionated side showing through HAD Ahaha, don't be so hard on Elspeth! Sure, sometimes she can't see what's blatantly in front of her nose, but you know, look to ourselves - we don't always see what is infront of our nose either *goes off phiisophicially* And, if she didn't have faults, then that would just turn her into the numb protagonist that is seen in many many stories. Dark one, I agree - 'The Keeping Place' would have been much shorter! I don't really like the start of that book... it takes too long - the end is way better

Told you I'm opinonated. I agree that the protagonist should have some flaws, shouldn't be a sort of perfect robot Mary Sue, but sometimes I swear Elspeth doesn't think at all. It would cut out a lot of the story if she deduced things a bit faster, though. You do have a point there, Dark One.
