So, if you're new to the Message Boards, let us know a little about yourself - your name, where you're from, etc. If you're stuck, here's some questions you might like to answer: When did you join Ober.net? Where did your Ober.net name come from? Who's your favourite Obernewtyn character? Which is your favourite Obernewtyn book? What's your favourite colour? What's your favourite food? What are some of your hobbies or interests? Also - newbies check list: - Have you signed up at www.obernewtyn.net? - why? Because that's where your guild will be allocated / chosen!- Guild? But they're not the Obernewtyn Chronicles guilds! - read this post for an explanation of guildsIf you want to read about some of the other members, check out this thread - it's got answers from lots of other people, we just had to make a new thread because it got too big! ~ Elspeth

*Sniffs air* COOKIES! *Stops and looks embarassed at sudden outburst*
Umm...yeah...I am Salangor, Sal for short. I joined Obernet today and the name (Salangor) is one I usually use when paying online games. I don't really have a favourite Obernewtyn character. If I must choose though, it would be Alexi, because his such an interesting (and twisted) character. Favorite Obernewtyn book is The Farseekers.
Grey, it's technically not a colour but I like grey. Chocolate's good, so are cookies, that's why timtams rock and partly why I'm a Wanderer, the other reason off course is the dual flush toilets.
Hmm...hobbies? I like reading and writing. I would listening to music as a hobby but it is more of a religion to me. I'm a bit obsessive about The Cranberries you see.
Yes, well that's about it, I will leave you now.
Sal

Greetings Obernewtyn.net! Also a warm hello to my old guild the Misfits. That's right, I'm not a new member, but an old one. If you look on the Taken by Slavers list you'll find me under the name of Tanaz (bleckh, icky I know). My name, is Tina =) and I chose the new name Scribbler because I both write and draw ( I also chose it because I couldn't remember the password to my old username nor the email account associated with it ><) So a little about myself.. I'm from Melbourne, and I'm currently an animation student. I joined Ober way back when I was about thirteen years old (I think) and in highschool. I can't remember when I was taken by slavers, but I returned yesterday! My favourite Obernewtyn book is Ashling, and my favourite character Swallow *sigh*. Here's a little story about Ashling and I... In my last week of high school I was sitting in the library with one of my all time favourite teachers who was like a mother to me, and I looked at the Fantasy bookshelf and there sat Ashling the first book that ever really got me hooked onto fantasy. You see me being an avid reader, was dared by the rest of the class to read such a thick book. Alright! Said I. So I went to read it but discovered it was a third book! So I backtracked and read the first two, falling in love with them as you all have I'm sure I discovered Obernewtyn, Carmody and a whole other world of Fantasy through this one book Ashling. That day in the library I turned to my teacher and asked 'Ms, could I buy that book from the school?' and she looked at it with it's purple spine and gypsy cover, got up, took it down off the shelf, opened it to the back and ripped out the schools yellow pocket, closed it and handed it to me saying 'Tina, I know how much you love this book, you can have it.' And it's sitting on my shelf this very moment with my other Ober books with the matching orange spine My favourite colour? I love all colours! Probably blue though, it's very calm. Fave food: Anything with pasta! Hobbies/Interests: Reading, Writing, Drawing/Painting/Sculpting, Dancing, and the internet. Favourite artists: Brian Froud & John Howe. Favourite authors: Robin Hobb, Isobelle Carmody and Raymond E. Feist. ... and I think that is probably enought. I look forward to meeting everybody ^^ Tin.

Squirrels are cute and little (except for the "Ninja Squirrels" of course) and furry and antelopes are all legs and they don't even have paws! The point is... squirrels are cool and antelopes are silly.

Yeah, Antelopes can't even pick things up and talk at the same time whereas squirrels have nuts in their paws down to an art.

Hey Tina, nice to meet you! What a wonderful English teacher, letting you 'borrow' the library book like that. In my experience, I've always found English teachers to be the most sympathetic and influential but of course that's just me. ;D
Oh wow, that purple spined Ashling book feels like so long ago, 7 or 8 years infact. I'm so used to thinking of the ober books as being A5 penguin editions [the ones with the orange spines], thank you for reminding me and making me all nostalgic for the pre-orange era.
Anyway, welcome enjoy yourself here! If you feel like joining a laidback guild with fewer rabid members constantly arguing over the merits of squirrels or antelopes, give us wandies a ring. We have timtams and dual flush toilets. Nothing beats free food after all. ;D
...although I suppose technically antelopes and squirrels could be considered free food also. *evil smirk*
