Well...*woot* to England! Muhaha! Quarter finals! ;D Yes, that was a good match. England didn't play very well though. However, when the goal was scored the whole pub erupted and beer and (plastic) glasses were thrown around. I got soaked!

I'll be on at half-time and after the match. I would normally have slept through it, but my father tells me the people around here make such a noise that I might as well stay up. As long as I don't fall asleep at the keyboard tomorrow! EDIT: Post match now. Dear oh dear. I'm sure people will be debating that penalty for the next four years!

*sigh* I didn't watch it, I'm sorry Aussie lost, but honestly. This morning everyone was blathering on about how the mafia rigged the game, how unfair it was that Italy won, that someone pretended to fall over, that at least Australia play a clean match... I felt like yelling "WE LOST. YOU CANT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. GET OVER IT."
Sorry. I'd like soccer if it wasn't for all the media hype.

The mafia rigged the game?! But, how?! Some people just need someone to blame.

Well, Switzerland are out. I didn't watch the game, but by all accounts it was a bit rubbish. I heard the yelling from all around my block of flats, though, during the penalties!
So, I think I'll have to settle for supporting the teams England are playing!

I normally go for whichever team most people think will lose (which is Australia anyway) For the olympics soccer, I went for Kuwait (sp?)

Dammit dammit dammit! Oh well it's over why didn't I come on here earlier, then I could have got the idea with the mirrors going ;-) it's actually kind of funny cos now everyone's full of condolences, like somebody died. They all reckon it was completely unfair, and there's actually newspaper articles about the 'australian fairytale football story' and the 'hopes of the outsiders from downunder are finally crushed' then they say 'oh well, at least you can go for Germany now with all force!' Football forever!

GO NOT ITALY OR BRAZIL! It was pretty unfair, but that's the game. Sometimes it's cruel referee decisions that make the drama of the game so much more interesting to watch. And I'm still going for Germany, been doing that since last the last World Cup when they lost to Brazil (grrrr!) Blüh' im Glanze dieses Glückes! They have such an awesome national anthem. ;D The mafia rigged the game?! But, how?! Some people just need someone to blame. And well, I think everyone who's coming up with those mafia accusations are being pretty over-the-top, but there is a current scandal in the Italian footballing leagues where 4 of the country's top football clubs are being charged for fixing their matches by bribing the referees to be lenient with them. FOUR teams, and it's happened before: Club Sienna was found guilty of rigging their wins and they were demoted to play in Serie B (2nd level footie) and then, a year later in their Serie B playoff for a position in Serie A (which they won), they were found guilty AGAIN for fixing that match and were demoted to Serie C. So yeah, the accusations are stupid and we should just suck it up, but at the same time, you can see the reasoning behind them. I'm pretty happy just blaming the referee. *starts looking up on voodoo*

Seriously, they're all stupid and greedy. I felt bad for their fans and players when I heard about that. And well, I don't think I'll ever be proficient enough with voodoo to get my revenge on the whole world, so I'm just sticking with the ref. *evil*

England fans emptying pubs
England fans are drinking Germany dry.
Breweries warned that beer could run out before the final due to demand.
In Nuremberg fans drank 1.2 millions pints of beer during the Trinidad game reports The Sun.
Stuttgart landlords said an extra 900,000 pints were sunk last weekend as 60,000 fans celebrated England's win over Ecuador.
In Cologne - where England drew with Sweden - pubs ran out of bottles and barrels.

Yes! I'm not sure who to go for either :S after the Aussies are out Haha I'm thinking Spain - but more because I want to see if they win - Apparently Nostradamus predicted that in 2006 the King of Spain will go to Germany to battle and win - so people have interpreted that as them to be the winners of the cup - well they are in the final 8 aren't they? Hmmm prehaps Germany... or England... although the germans have a cute striker on their side no no I'm not that shallow
