I can't believe it's taking me this long to get here! We're just eating breathing and drinking soccer (actually, it's quite nice on toast ;-) ) here at the moment...but next weekend's going to be kind of funny because I have an exchange camp involving Germans, Brazilians, US Americans, Poles and of course Aussies (me). there could be some heated debates... But go OZ!!!!

Tch, soccer. Instead of talking about it, does anyone mind if I shoot myself in the head?

Just as long as you don't do it in front of my television screen, Cookie! I will not have your rotting corpse obstruct my view of the games.

Here here! Oh well, soccer isn't for everyone, but I think it comes pretty close I love watching the news, everyone is so pumped for Sunday's game of Oz vs Brazil - from the way they make it sound of it Australia is gonna beat them clean. Hey Danni, what do you mean by exchange camp, as in what have you been up to? Damn, I wish I went on an exchange to Germany!!!

You play all three teams in the rest of your group, don't you? Just clarifying...

2-0. Ah well, I think we played really well against Brazil and the Socceroos were great, especially with how tight their defensive tactics were. And we still just need a draw against Croatia to qualify. And without any second yellow cards in this game, the coach has the full squad to choose from, so the team can come out full force. ...Sorry guys, don't mean to yammer on. I think I'm trying to comfort myself here.

Now - apparently there was some big scandal last night around the soccer game and channel 9...I don't know what, I didn't watch. But I heard them referencing it on jjj this morning on the way to work...what happened? Galli, feel free to talk as much as you like about it here! I respect your spirit and hope in our chances...as much as I think it's a joke aus has made it this far. But I'm glad it's got some people enthused!

What scandal??? Ooo tell me - I know Kewell had a bit of a 'discussion' with the referee after the game - maybe that's it?
Woo can't wait til Friday's match!!! Croatia player pretty bad against Japan last night, so there could still be hope for Australia!!

Don't we just need to draw to get into the next round? Come on guys, we can do that!!! ...sorry about that, I watched the Aussie-Brazil alone in a room and still shouted out advice to the players, I think I'm a little too enthusiastic
Yeah, I've been on exchange in Germany for the last ten months! It's been completely fantastic, but I'm coming home on 17th July...looking forward to it but I'm going to miss here so much.
What's this scandal?

I haven't watched it on TV yet, but I probably will start shouting if I do... Except for the fact I'll be more whispering as everyone else will be asleep...

Ecuador use witch doctor against England
The Ecuador World Cup squad have their own witch doctor - and he's reportedly put a spell on the England team.
Tzamarenda Naychapi is an Ecuadorian Indian who uses magic for controlling events, according to the Sun.
England insiders roared with laughter when told of the South American team’s juju tactics yesterday.
A source said: “They’ll need more than a witch doctor to stop us.”
The Ecuador players have also been given a book by their coach telling the story of a family motivated by the murder of their cow.
Coach Luis Suarez inspires his players before a game by telling them: “It’s time to kill your cow.”

I agree - that Ref was dodgy! So many wrong fouls and missed fouls and then he is pulling out yellow and red cards left right and center!

But who cares?!!! We're in!!!!!
Except that the stupid broadcasting program decided to show the Brazil-Japan game instead here...like there was tension there about who would win! Everyone at school today was just like 'Yay! Congratulations Australia!' It was awesome

Really? Well I suppose because it is Germany and Brazil is ranked number one in the world that they put theirs on - but how strange that they had those matches happening at the same time? Isn't that like the first game that has been like - where two matches are on at once? Over here they were giving us updates of the Brazil Japan game, but really we were way too busy seeing if Australia would make it Ahah I loved that corner before Kewell scored, and the goalie caught it right on the line and you have the Australians coming up and trying to push him into the goal Go Aussies

Darn it! I just realised a disturbing trend in my first post as I update with the new scores. For this knock out round of 16 teams, the team that I listed first has a tendency to win their games. So if it all continues to follow that pattern, it looks like Australia and Ukraine are going home tonight. Damn my typing and subconcious omniscience, if only i knew this beforehand!
p.s. Did anyone catch the Netherlands/Portugal game this morning? The referee was throwing yellow and red cards around like it was confetti. Probably as a preemptive celebration of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's wedding, which is apparently big news for some reason? Strange. Anyway, 16 yellow cards and 4 red ones, and the teams almost resorted to a fist fight! Utter chaos and so fun to watch. But then, I'm a barbarian that way.
Tonight's the Australia and Italy game, just in case you didn't see it advertised in every single news break for the past 3 days. Low expectations for this one, but that stupid delusional feeling of hope still persists. Go Australia! Maybe all our players should just play with mirrors on their chests so that the Italian players will keep stopping to check themselves out and fix their hair? ;D

I think that's a plan. Quick! E-mail the Socerroos and let them know the cunning plan!
