can i rant about certain friends of mine and their lack of work ethic. ok one of my friends has just started a traineeship and was complaining about an 8:30 start because they would have to get up early and bus it in, instead of getting a lift most of the way with their mum, and was wishing they had a number to call their boss on to tell her he would be there at 9. now he hadnt explained to me that he was covering someoene elses shift and his boss had let him basically pick his shifts etc, so i started telling him that he just had to get up and go in when he was supposed to etc (we are talkng his 2nd shift here too) and if he had told the boss that 8:30 starts were too early cos he didnt like getting up that early he probably would have lost the job. so now im basically in sh!t off him, but he still doesnt get what i meant about it he just keeps going "nah shes a decent woman, she wouldve let me start later if i explained the situation" hes being trained for supervisor for luds sake, he has to get used to the early starts, if the situation had been "i have to walk/drop my little sister/brother/child off at school or something id have been a bit different about it but yeah, it just makes him look plain lazy and undedicated to the job. he claims to want to make a good impression to get a good reference from it

I know it drives me mad! Especially when you're short of time, or you're on a slow connection. You go into the post, and someone has just posted a smiley face or something...grrrrr...
It's like, I wasted minutes of my life for this I mean come on! If you don't have anything pertinent to add...then don't add!

While we're on posting hates, can i say i REALLY REALLY REALLY hate this smiley:
I just HATE it! When people use it i keep getting the feeling that they're standing right in my face and being abusive. I just don't like that smiley, and i don't see the point for it.
And that's my rant about that stupid smiley.
And i'm with the one word responses too, don't like them all that much, but sometimes they are useful. For a quick joke or whatever. But when people use them excessively all i can think is that they are simply trying to get their posting count up and don't really want to talk or anything... that, and the wasted time loading a page only to find at the bottom, is kinda annoying.

I'm with you, Flit - I hate that smiley. It makes me feel exactly the same way. It's a nasty, mean smiley and it makes me feel bad whenever I see it.

hehe it's got a monobrow...
Well for my rant. I'm doing a fine art course at the moment specialising in printmaking - ahhh the sweet smell of turps in the morning Anyways I'm setting up today to begin a print run. I have my plate all ready for proofing, bagsed myself a good press, fiddled with it to get he pressure right in other words went to some trouble there people. I then get out my 15 sheets of beautiful Hannemuhle rag paper (at $18.85 per sheet!!) and put them to soak in the water trough. I'm doing intaglio prints and the paper need to be soaked before you run it throgh the press. Now in a print studio EVERYTHING is oil based. Turps cleanup only. Water is located only for the paper troughs. If you need to wash your hands you go outside. If you need to clean anything, you clean it in the turps bath. NEVER in the water!! So I ink up my plate and set it on the press bed, and go to retrieve my first sheet of paper only to see to my horror some complete imbecil washing yes washing their inky roller into my clean water with my paper!!
OMG!!! nearly $200.00 of paper ruined!!
I had a literal breakdown and shouted the place down. Grrrrr! So they have to replace it for me but It'll take at least 5 days for it to get here as I have to order it in. Man I am so Peeved!!! Why don't people bother to read the clear instuctions posted above the trough in big letters: GET YOUR INKY ANYTHING AWAY FROM HERE THIS IS A CLEAN AREA

OMG what an bastard! That is so goddamned irritating! ACK! I hate that about public art studios, there's always complete idiots Ack! Well, i hope it comes well for you in the and Rigel, and that bastard suffers in a level of hell where he is to try and clean paintbrushes for an eternity... paintbrushes that don't clean.....

Conversation I just had with a client trying to explain 'Pack & Go'.
Me: Ok, when the progress bar is complete, next to the start button a 'done' button will become active. client: ok. ...*waiting time*... Me: ...is the done button active? client: no. It's not doing anything. Me: Is the progress bar complete? client: yes, it's full of blue dots. Me: So the done button is active. client: no. ... Me: What's next to the start button? client: Done, and Less. Me: ...click done.
Then...THEN! Well, he had to zip the pack and go to email it to me. Me: So now Pack & Go.zip should be in My Documents client: um...*searches* it's not. Me: try arranging your files by name (explained right click - Arrange Icons By - Name) to put them in alphabetical order and then find Pack & Go. zip client:....it's not here. Me: Ok, maybe it didn't work. Compress the folder again. client: ...*is compressing*...wait, it says that Pack & Go.zip already exists in the directory. Me: then Cancel. Pack & Go. zip IS in My Documents somewhere. You just have to find it.
ARGH. To make matters worse, he called back later totally befuddled still because he couldn't find the file or make another one. So I told him to just try sending me all the files related to the assembly. I still haven't gotten them.

Don't get me wrong, I love Melbourne! It's just that it's well, not all that nice right now... And I really hate the cold, and our stupid school uniforms make us freeze

*sobs* I'm tired and sore and cranky and hungry 'cause I've just spent 10 hours at lectures/pracs/lab work with no breaks and then it was two hours to get home and I have to be up at 5:30 tomorrow to catch the 6:20 bus so it can start all over again *screams*
