lol Did he have a choice??? I mean, they outnumber him about... let's see... How many people are there at Obernewtyn? 60? So maybe about 60 to 1? Besides, the "love of his life" is a Misfit! He can't turn her away, can he? Not to mention Elpeth would never, ever, ever let him turn away all her misfit friends, or stay behind while they left. And how is he going to ru the house all on his lonesome? He couldn't do all that on his own, and it's not like he can afford to pay people. Don't forget he's a latent misfit, and, oh, let me think... they saved his life? Without them he would be dead. I think he owes them a debt. And if he turned them away, they would most certainly be captured and killed. Not much on his conscience, is it? And they'd probably have something to tell the herders/council first that could get him in trouble. Not to mention, it's a pretty good way to be safeguarded from being coerced like the general population. there's probably more I could come u with if you like lol...
