Well I'm sorry that I've been mean. I was probably in a bad mood but that still doesn't mean I can take it out on you guys. I like Dameon too. He's mysterious... but still nice. Again I'm sorry. I won't post unless I have something nice to say from now on.

Thankyou for the apology, Elspethinnle. I'm sorry if I was a little harsh, too. Now, let's get back to the important task of arguing over someone else's lovelife (and a fictional character at that)!

Thank you very much for your understanding, both of you. Posting on the internet can be a bit tricky because you never know how someone else is going to read your words. But as you can see, these things can be worked out. *tosses baked goods into the air in celebration*
Now i agree, Dames is by far the more huggable, and therefore is better than Rushton. Seriously, Rushton's all stiff and severe, yet Dames is just so cuddly.

;D i can't believe this thread is still going - thats awesome! i don't get to the Dining Hall much these days, so i was happy to see the debate is still going strong.
have been having a read - lots of good points but i'm still a Rushton shipper! have been since i first read Ober. he and Elf are so meant to be.
but i like the idea that Dames has found love in Sador. if he cannot have Elf, and he is too honourable to try and bust up a relationship, then i hope he can be happy. that would be cool if he rocks up in the sending with a sexy sadorian girlfriend!
i bet Elf would be jealous...i think even though she loves Rushton, she has some feeling for Dames.
just have to add -

Oh, you're so right, Mysterikat! Whether she wants Dames or not, I reckon Elf is the sort of girl to be irrationally jealous if he finds someone else! She wouldn't know why and she'd try and talk herself out of it, but I bet she'd be jealous!!!
And huggable is better, well said, Flit!

I know, don't you just want to give him a hug? he's such a sweetheart, where as Rushton i'd have to spend the whole time glaring at him, he's just so grumpy.
*hugs Dames*
Oh yes, and that would be just like Elf, to be all confused about her emotions over a person. Damn that girl is ditzy. She lives life in this cloud....

LOL! I do have to agree that Dameon is the huggable one. Rushton does seem to be a really grumpy git most of the time doesn't he? But I think that even though Rushton and Elspeth are together now, they can't last long because of her secret. I think he's figured out that she's keeping something from him. We'll just have to wait and see what happens in the Sending...

I can really only see Elf/Rushton going two ways. Either Rushton will die during the course of the Sneding (possibly because he is the Destroyer and Elf must kill him: Oh the Angst!) or he will come to terms with Elf's quest and at the end of the story, they will still be together.
I don't really think there'll be a big bust-up or anything, or if there is, not a permanent one.

I don't think Rushton is grumpy, no. But he does, for some reason, remind me of Angel so in that case im just going to say he isn't grumpy, he's just..... Brooding. That would be interesting if he is the Destroyer but i dont think Elf could ever KILL him, no way i wont believe it! I didn't think he had to come to terms with Elf's Quest, i thought he didnt know about it-(?). And anyway, he'll be with her at the end, he has to be coz Elf, Rushton ( not Dames ), Gahltha and Maruman will all journey to he mountains together.

Um... what evidence is there for that?
Elspeth will go off on her Quest with Maruman (Moonwatcher), Gahltha (Daywatcher) and Swallow (Kasanda Blood). She may take others, but the showdown will be in Red Queensland. That's what inclines me to the belief Matty is the Destroyer, or Daffyd. We can already put them in RQ, without trouble!
But that's off topic. I'm just wondering how you can justify the claim that Elf, Rushton, Gahltha and Maruman are going to the mountains.

Oh, Dames is the Destroyer, that'll be even more ANGST Total nifty resolution to the love triangle. Even though it'll be terrible because well... Dames is just too sweet, but i stand by it being him. And anyway, who says the Destroyer is going to die? The Destroyer might be an innocent. It's Ariel who's going to bite it.
I don't think Rushton could ever leave Ober, the place needs him, and i don't think he'd go. He's so the househusband type

He's so the househusband type Lol! But i can't quite picture Rushie doing the washing like my househusband... but no, sadly, he will not go with Elf in the end. Ober needs him, and he needs it, more than i think he needs Elf. but he still loves her, and he will brood over it for ever if Elf doesn't come back. ooo yes Dames being the Destroyer will be a nice ending to the love triangle.

I love this thread!! When I first read TKP, I remember thinking that the destoyer would be Dames - the whole "being blind and accidently pushing the wrong button" image plays out in my mind... Dames is the kind of guy that is your best friend... Kayt mentioned that she sees the conclusion to the Rushton/Elf affair ending in either Rushtons demise or they will live happily ever after. I think that Maruman's comment "Obernewtyn allgone and finished" (in Ashling) indicated that Rushton and Elspeth won't live happily ever after. Rushton is very much the "househusband" type and I think that when Elspeth heads off on her quest, Rushton will stay behind and Elspeth won't be going home... The other option is that Rushton could bravely sacrifice himself for Elspeth.

There's nothing "WRONG" with anyone on this board. You may not get attached to fictional people, but that's no reason to insult those who do, or to try and force your values onto everyone else. Nobody here is stupid or crazy; they just think differently to you, and maybe have a different sort of imagination. Your post is insulting and mean, and this sort of raining on people's parade is not welcome in a good-natured community like ours.
Please observe the Obernet Netiquette and do not say personally insulting things about other members. Your post has been reported to Elspeth, and a repeat of this insulting tone may result in being fed to ravenous meerkats.

I can't watch a tv series or finish a book unless I've become attached to at least one character That I care about what happens to a character is what makes me want to watch/read about it. Otherwise if you don't care, why bother watching/reading? DAMEON 4 ELF 4EVA

I agree with you. Although in my case it's more of a 'I can't keep watching a tv series unless there's a character that I like.' same with reading books. I won't read/like a book unless there's a decent character in there somewhere.
But I'm totally a Rushton fan.
GO RUSHTON!!!

Yea I agree too. I don't think many people can read books unless they have become attached to one of the characters. I definently can't.
