I dunno if this is the right place to post this... but I'm just curious...
How were you first introduced to the Obernewtyn Chronicles and what do you think it was about them that made you a fan?

My friend recommended them to me when I was in 6th grade. (ah, 8 years ago now, how time flies).
I ignored her.
All: *gasp*
But then, at the beggining of Year 7, I found Obernewtyn on the school bookshelf. I remembered the title, so I picked it up and borrowed it. I read it in one night! I stay up till 3 or 4 in the morning reading, or watching TV all the time, these days, but the first time I ever did it was with Obernewtyn.
My library didn't have The Farseekers, or Ashling. But I got them for my birthday. Then I bought Obernewtyn and I read them again and again!!!
Yay Oberchron!!!

I just saw it and [glow=red,2,300]KNEW[/glow] it was weird. I held off buying it until some looming exams had finished because I [glow=red,2,300]KNEW[/glow] that once I started I wouldn be obsessed and not bother to study at all.

I needed to do a Viva for yr 11 english (that's nearly 8 years ago ) based on Aussie writers. I had read some really bad, boring Aussie novels, and was really frustrated with the quality but I needed one more book to complete the report. I started at "A" in the school library and looked for something interesting that had the little kangaroo sticker on the spine indicating it was Aussie...Farseekers was the first one I got to that looked interesting. Well, I went home and read it in one night, totally hooked - then noticed it was book 2 of a series. The next couple of days were taken up reading Obernewtyn and Ashling. Then began the wait for TKP...*sigh* though this wait for the Sending is feeling FAR longer!!

at my primary school, in the middle of the library there was this big pit where we all sat and the teacher sat up on the top step above us all, and the area was surrounded by shelves and shelves of books...and there was always this huge fat book that was always staring at me:Dso one day i got fed up with it watching me and decided to read it...then i realised that it was the fourth in the series so i got all of them out and read them over a week or so...but funnily enough, i wasn't really hooked until i thought one day that it'd be great if there was an ober movie coming out and hopped onto the net to find out if there was, and also to find out when the sneding was coming out...that be how i found the theories site...

BRYDIE!Well as some of you may know it was BRydz that first told me about the books and being the trusting person i am i took it home and read it and loved it! The next day I had only read a couple of chapters and was Sooooooooooo inlove with the book that I was reading it in class and everything! I was talking about it soooooo much to Brydie that I'm sure I became annoying. lol I kept asking her about all these things like, is ariel really bad, and I even didn't like Rushton! Ofcourse as soon as I finished it I loved rushton and all the other characters ad went to Brydz and said 'ARE THERE MORE!'!!!! Brydz you are a CHAMPION!!!!

Well, I got Billy Thunder and the Night Gate for my birthday in primary school, I think grade 6 (and I'm in year 10 now) and absolutely hated the d**n thing. It's on the bookshelf with the books I don't like. And I'd heard of Obernewtyn, but I knew it was written by the person who'd written BT and so i didn't want to read it. But then, in July last year Lara, a girl in my class, made me read them and I loved them and then she made me go to the site and look at some bios for characters or something, and I joiuned up while I was at it (actually, it was glaring at me and I though she'd joined up too so I was intimidated into it. I later found she hasn't joined. She just reads the theories on the main site and stuff like that). I've only ever read the series once and Obernewtyn (which is the only one of them I own, and I got that for $1.50 or something at my school fete in October) twice. Which is why i'm never on the theories board. I have no idea who anyone's ever talking about half the time...

Well, my friend was going on and on about this site she'd just joined, and this 'guild' she was in. I was like 'huh? sounds cool. can i join?' so i went and visited the site, and discovered it was based around a series of books... My friend really wanted me to join her guild, so i did. And then thought 'why the heck am i joining a site when i have no idea what everyone's going on about?' So i read the Ober Chronicles and then voila, i got hooked on them

I first read Obernewtyn in Year 7. This english teacher I had loved them, and knew I was a reader so she lent them to me. I loved Obernewtyn and The Farseekers so much!! But then my two month holiday came and I sort of forgot about them But in Year 8, I found the high school library had all of the series, so I decide to read Ashling... ;D I got hooked on them again, and read TKP and the whole series again I then convinced my friend, RubyInnle to read the series, and she loved them, and her 11 old brother had read them and loved them as well. (he is so jealous that we get Isobelle Carmody coming to our school)

i found Ober on the shelf in the school library and i had just read Louise Lawerence's Children of the Dust and was already in the mood for a post apocalyptic story so i discovered Ober, took it home and loved it!! i think i borrowed it from the library about 12 times before my mum bought me my own copy (that was in 1992) and it went from there....and now i am obsessed and have made it my mission to convert as many people as i can to the Ober chron and it is working ;D
actually i went out to dinner tonigh with friends and have convinced a non-fantasy reader that she ought to read Ober to get her started...

i was looking for something interesting to read in the school library and i think it was actually the author that caught my eye rather than the title, so i took it home and read it and fell in love. sadly though my school library didnt have farseekers, only ashling, so i started badgering them for farseekeers though it took them 2 yrs to do it still (yes kayt they did have ashling, i remember all the times looking over that shelf trying to find farseekers and ashling was sitting there laughing at me) so in the end i got sick of waiting for farseekers and read ashling. then in yr 9 i think it was i started talking to kayt about it and read farseekers (i cant remember if i borrowed it off kayt or the library) and tkp. but in yr 11 i bought them all so i didnt have to worry about borrowing them anymore

It was the summer holidays (of year 7 or 8 I think) and I was looking for books to borrow from the library. I had just read, and fallen in love with, Brian Caswell and was looking in that section of the bookshelf for some more of his books. I didn't find any. But I did find Obernewtyn. I looked at the cover and it didn't seem that interesting because it was the first edition cover with the kinda... well... yucky cover. I read the blurb and thought "hmmm..." and then put it back. Lol! Thats right!! I put it back. The next week I was looking for more books and as I had run out of authors I already knew, I picked up Obernewtyn again and thought I would give it a try. Needless to say I fell in love. Then I ran off to find Farseekers. It was a little while before I found Ashling. And in the wait between books I read her other stuff and Green Monkey Dreams became my fav book. The End.
