okay, so today has been a rather crapish day, so i decided i needed to cook myself something really yummy to cheer me up. so i was sitting in my kitchen waiting for inspiration to strike from my tummy, and, well, i made scones!
now don't laugh - scones rock! esp when they are straight out of the oven, smeared with jam and whipped cream. they taste so darn good! and, they comfort me. they remind of being a kid, going to nan's and pigging out on all her yummy cakes and things...
scones are so not an old persons food! they are seriously underrated - i think i will lead a liberation of the scones march...maybe not!
but, what i want to know it, what is YOUR comfort food? the food you turn to when things are rough? AND you CANNOT say chocolate - it is the universal comfort food, so is banned from the list!
yum! ;D

Mars Bar cheesecake I love the stuff! And I totally agree with you on the scones thing! I love them If it comes down to organising a liberation of the scones, then I'm there! hehe.

Scones ROCK!!!!! But apart from chocolate, I don't have a comfort food. For me, the buzz is the cooking! But I guess you would say my comfort food is lemon, chocolate and vanilla marble cake, with the lemon part dyed orange. It's my specialty! ***** No! Wait! I DO have a comfort food! Pumpkin scones = heaven. I adore them. They are just the awesomest. And as for comfort food, I actually like carrot/celery/lettuce. But chocolate/ice cream/bikkies/sweet things are also great Oh!! And that...Agnitarium...Schewppes stuff...its so deliciously good. *drools*

I was just about to say "choc -" and then you banned it ;D I know this is a very Wanderery thing to say, but Timtams! Just coming home from a crappy day, rummaging through the cupboard and finding an unopened pack of Timtams ... and then falling onto the couch watching TV and devouring them ... it's bliss Oh and ice-cream too ... chocolate ice-cream

i always forget, what are timtams? the middle bit inside carrots are really nice and sweet. lettuce is a mild sedative and i have sometimes felt the effects of it. celery makes yummy juice.
i dont really have a comfort food but i have eaten for comfort. i dont yearn or automatically want a particular food if im feeling sad or whatever. but i do have a few favs that i usually treat myself too. and i sometimes treat myself to stuff i like if im feeling crap or very grouchy/annoyed/bothered. so it'd prob be a vegetable curry or mushroom curry takeaway from the jasmine chinese restaurant in my local town, vegan ice-cream that they sell in the local health food shop or mebe chips that i make for myself at home (and eat them with chef ketchup. yum.) also some chocolate is good but mostly this is not a comfort food for me. it tastes nice but it doesnt seem to do much else. today i found very yummy food. black olive tapenade. dried mango.

I may just get ignored by Wandies all over the world for this, but I dont actually like Tim Tams that much! Occasionally I can have a few of the plain ones, but the others just make me sick. *hides from Wandies*

Others? What others? I could eat Timtams forever! Although having said that, I could probably eat forever... I found out something very scary last year. I eat when I'm bored!! It's not good... And then other times when I have something to do I don't eat at all... like yesterday the only thing I ate was dinner... And I wasn't even hungry...

I'm exactly the same, Emi Luckily I'm busy most of the time, or I'd be eating 24/7.

My comfort food: Pasta + some yummy sauce. I know it is weird, but I tend to crave carbs when I'm stressed =P And I just love tomato based sauces and veggies and cheese ^_^

I was about to post that my comfort food is pasta, which is sad since I'm cutting down on eating it (it makes Paul sick from the gluten, and I'm not supposed to eat so many carbs now). Pasta with some sort of pumpkin sauce, or tomato-based sauce... *drools*It's so silly that our bodies crave carbs, when I know it can't be good for me but every once in a while I figure can't hurt (moderation and all that ). Other than pasta, my comfort 'food' would be coffee. If I've just talked to a client and stressed out a little, I go grab a coffee to calm me down.

If I've just talked to a client and stressed out a little, I go grab a coffee to calm me down. u can get non-gluten pasta. its not expensive here. i dont know about in Australia. i love pasta and sauce too. i make yummy pasta sauce. it wouldnt be a comfort food tho. only because at any time i might want a comfort food i wouldnt feel like cooking. i love good quality coffee. and real hot choc with lots of chocolate in it. a friend of a friend told me a place where they sell yummy hot choc. she was right. it was like a drug. also, it was sooo nice. it had dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate in it. the shop was a chocolataires(sp?). they make and sell handmade chocolate.

SCONES!!!!! the best way to eat scones is with whipped cream and lemon butter -drools- but my favorte comfort food is :stuffed olives on savory shapes i know it may be weird and i guess only like an 8th of the worl's population likes olives but i just was bored and was eating savory shapes and decided (out of some weird place in my brain) to pop a stuffed olive on top........

i once had scones at afriends and instead of being made with water or milk for the liquid, they had been made with lemonade! all the sconey goodness but with extra fluffyness!
my comefort food would be mums chocalate cake. nothing fixes all the problems of the day like mums chocalate cake.
Oh and coke *knows its technacally not a food and therefore hides under a table*

my comfort food is biscuits....or cake. its great, because not only do they taste good, you can get your frustration out when you're mixing the butter and sugar (at least... thats what i do.... i broke a wooden spoon that way )

;D good to hear the scones are making a comeback! yah scones! i have had them made with lemonade too - they were great. i made some like that once - it was such a messy process, but worth it!\
i love marinated bocconcini from this little Italian shop in town - its so unbelievablly good! expensive but, so its a treat when i am feeling wicked and want to spend lots of money on something yummy!
and cheese of any description is good - excpet blue. can't handle that!

I thought chocolate was disallowed!
My real comfort food, when I'm feeling really down is brown rice. I love the stuff. With chicken in white sauce as a preference, cause it's what my mum used to make me when I was younger. Or, if I can't get that, baked salmon with lemon and tarragon.

I know chocolate is disallowed! I'm just naming foods with chocolate as one of the ingredients! After all, people also said Chocolate ice creams etc. I'm not dumb you know! *continues naming foods with chocolate as one of the ingredients*
