The 7 year old I work with is VERY good at manipulating teachers. It's a remarkable gift but it doesn't seem to work on me. Maybe this is because i'm not a teacher (YET!!) but she might just be warming me up........ we'll see.

If he knew about this board, he'd come on and rant about me laughing at him every single time he comes near me BTW I have nothing to rant about cos I am in a happy mood

I have a French oral this afternoon. Except my spoken French is pathetic (not good when you live in a french speaking country) because my teacher never gets us to say anything that isn't written in front of us. I have to have a ten minute conversation with a classmate - what are the chances I'll get someone even worse than me to talk with?
(I'm not sure if this is an actual rant, or more a panic, but this seemed like the right place to put it.)

Sounds like a bit of both, rant about your teachers silly teaching methods and a panic about your ability to do the oral, don't worry, it never goes as bad as you imagine, just look confident and you'll manage it, maybe. I always sucked at learning languages, I'm really not much help.

I'm not very good at languages, and I learned German at school anyhow, but I figured I should put some effort into learning French while I was in Geneva. However, in six months I've been spending most of my time with fellow Brits, and shop assistants will switch to English the second they hear my rubbish french, so I'm not getting much chance to practise.

i like languages, but i can't speak many and i dont even know what quite a few of them sound like. sometimes languages sound really nice when spoke by native/fully fluent people. one time i was in the south west of ireland in a Gaelteacht area (an area where Irish is still spoken as an everyday and first language, most speak english too) i went into a shop and i heard a girl speaking irish to another local. it sounded really nice. i had a friend who used to say that dutch sounds really nice, i have yet to hear dutch. i can speak irish and german, and a few words of french. i was interested in learning sign language once, but now any more. I'm not very good at languages, and I learned German at school anyhow, but I figured I should put some effort into learning French while I was in Geneva. However, in six months I've been spending most of my time with fellow Brits, and shop assistants will switch to English the second they hear my rubbish french, so I'm not getting much chance to practise. high five song lyric #3Nobody's Home by Avril Lavigne I couldn't tell you why she felt that way, She felt it everyday. And I couldn't help her, I just watched her make the same mistakes again. What's wrong, what's wrong now? Too many, too many problems. Don't know where she belongs, where she belongs. She wants to go home, but nobody's home. It's where she lies, broken inside. With no place to go, no place to go to dry her eyes. Broken inside. Open your eyes and look outside, find the reasons why. You've been rejected, and now you can't find what you left behind. Be strong, be strong now. Too many, too many problems. Don't know where she belongs, where she belongs. She wants to go home, but nobody's home. It's where she lies, broken inside. With no place to go, no place to go to dry her eyes. Broken inside. Her feelings she hides. Her dreams she can't find. She's losing her mind. She's fallen behind. She can't find her place. She's losing her faith. She's fallen from grace. She's all over the place. Yeah,oh She wants to go home, but nobody's home. It's where she lies, broken inside. With no place to go, no place to go to dry her eyes. Broken inside. She's lost inside, lost inside...oh oh She's lost inside, lost inside...oh oh yeah

i LOVE learning languages! the only one i picked up though was sign language. i unfortunately couldnt do that for year 12. I have a funny story about that. My bank manager has a deaf brother and thus learnt sign language at a young age. When he sat his VCE exams in year 12, you had to fill out a form; one of the questions asked how many languages you knew. He put down sign language because it was a registered language, but the board, or whoever it was, made him cross it out (i.e. they didn't recognise it, the idiots). Anyway, he got his revenge during one of the exams, when he asked one of his friends the answer to a question using sign language (the friend knew it as well). He was caught and they threatened to rip up his exam, despite his protest: "But you said it wasn't a recognised language, so how could I have been communicating with him?" In the end, they didn't rip up the exam, but he still had those correct answers from this friend.

I CANT BELIEVE THEY DIDNT RECOGNISE IT AS A LANGUAGE well, their own stupidity bit them in the ass didnt it!!! thats pretty clever though, i wish i had thought of something like that for school tests etc, i dont think i could do it in exams though, id be WAY TOO SCARED! and SQ, im sorry to hear about your boring tv day.... I WENT SHOPPING! next time you'll know better. go out and hire some DVD's OR you could come shoping with ME!

Yes, car racing sucks. Adelaide is more than welcome to take the Grand Prix back - I certainly won't be crying!

Why do males like cars so much? Ok, that was way too much of a generalisation, but why? I only like cars if they're small, enviro.fri. and work. How fast they go, what colour they are, and how loud I can get much music pumping is completely unimportant to me, but it's like all that my brothers care about.
And a friend of mine and I used to talk to eachother in sign language when we were bored in school and the teacher had inflicted silence on us...but then she got caught and thrown in the dungeo... I mean, in detention.

I don't have my driver's license and I never intend to either. I've worked out that, in both the long-term and short-term, public transport is cheaper (if a little frustrating at times). Plus, I have no confidence in my driving skills.

*Grugs Squirt* hope you're feeling better! Car racing... brings to mind the evil Clipsal 500. It's just finished in Adelaide, and whoever invented it sould be shot! They close off half the roads into the CBD for TWO WEEKS for the INFERNAL CAR RACE so no one can get anywhere without sitting in a traffic jam for half an hour. On top of that they decide to RESURFACE THE FREEWAY at the same time, so trying to get anywhere was hell! And all for a bunch of noisy, pointless, screaming cars! And if that was't enough, you get the lovely flyovers screaming over your head. Just fantastic when you're at a horse show... But I won't get started on that You may have gathered I'm not exactly a fan of the car racing!

I wish to rant about the insane way teachers expect you to suddenly remember some stupid term you spent ten minutes on four weeks ago IN AN EXAM!! Arrrgh! (and I still managed an A on the exam actually). I also wish to complain about the fact that I don't even have a computer at home. Hey, Squirt! At least you HAVE one!

Gah! I'm soooo annoyed with my music teacher! She forced two of my friends and I to join her senior choir thing, and we tried to get out of it because none of us can sing,(we're musicians, not singers) we just make everyone else sound bad, but she got angry with us and spoke to the co-ordinators, who rang our parents. So not happy about that in the first place, but now she wants us to pay $100 so we can sing for her in the choir! Its not like she teaches us how to actually sing, and she doesnt let you keep the music sheets! Plus, she wants us to give up lunchtimes and weekends so we can "perform" at different venues. This is going to be so embarressing.... I was thinking of singing extra badly so she would kick me off the choir. I need to learn how to yodel
