Ok, i need to rant... this morning i was supposed to be able to sleep in till 11 b4 getting ready 4 work but my mums car broke down (which i share) and so my dad is making like 100000000 phone calls. Two things to keep in mind... 1) the phone is right near my room and 2) my dads european, that means that he talks heaps loud and it keeps building up. So i was rudely woken at 8, after a late night. Then my mum comes in at 9 at tells me i need to take the train to work. AAAHHHHHH so im getting ready and my face looks sh!t... breakout so i try and do my hair a bit different, but when i look 4 mum to ask her if its ok... she's not there. She is at the car yard with my dad buying a new car. And she brought a manual. AAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH can it get any worse? i hate driving manual, and so i offered to pay the extra to get an auto, and then threatened to never drive again (trying the guilt trip) but she refused and flat out said i would be driving the manual. NOOOOOOOOOOO So on the train there is this kid when i get on and he is purposfully burping, and its really loud and disgusting and to be quite frank was nausiating, so at the next station i get up and yell at both him and the mother about how disgusting it is and how she should have taught him to have more respect for other ppl. Work wasn't the best, im kinda the manager atm, so is stressfull. to top it off i was planning to watch a dvd tonight but my dad realised the rugby's on SPAST!!!!! this day really sux. Actually this year sux... let me briefly vent my frustration whilst im on here... uni is screwing me around to the extent that i may not be able to graduate because they keep cancelling all possible units for my course i broke up with my 1st ever boyfriend i cut ties with my 3 close friends... (out of like 4), of 10 yrs and told them i never want to see them again because they keep using me im perpetually bored.
Feel slightly better now... can anyone top that?

I think you need a warm, cuddly antelope, good Elondriel. That's too many things to happen to one person in one day.

*grugs Elondriel* thats pretty sucky, at least my mum cant buy a manual since in not allowed to drive one though the stupid rta...... actually come to think of it they deserve a rant dont they ok first they bring in these really lame laws about "l-platers can only drive 80km/h and red p-platers 90 etc." and a 0.00 blood alcohol limit so you cant even technically use mouth wash or have a cherry ripe before driving. THEN they make it worse by saying that they cant drive performance enhanced v-6's either. now i can kinda understand it but its not LIKE WE COULD REALLY DO ANYTHING WITH THE POWER ANYWAY!!!!!!! that ones really got me annoyed cos mum is about to buy an xr6 and my older brother just bought one so both he and i are going to be affected by it. and making us drive slower isnt helping much either, cos we just get tailgated all the time by people who are annoyed with us driving slow WELL I DIDNT MAKE THE STUPID LAW DID I SO STOP TAILGATING ME!! so all that does is make us either speed anyway, or want to slam on the brakes and cause an accident claiming there was a small kitten or a kangaroo in front of us. like that will help bring down the total of young drivers involved in accidents. oh and of course the first time we are allowed to go the actual speed limit and its wet we are gonna be screwed anyway cos after 4 years driving experience we havent got a clue how to control a car at that speed in the wet cos some stupid politician wont let us do it. the ACT have a much better idea of educating young drivers instead of putting more restrictions on them and doing stuff to encourage going to professional driving instructors.

Is there any proof that making L and P platers drive slower is having any effect as far as reducing accidents goes? Because I just can't see the point of it. You should all come and live in Victoria until you've got your full licenses. Yes, that'll solve that one...

Nah, just move across the border into Canberra Tal, we don't have any laws like that one.. but you do have to do road ready...
but i have to say, i don't have a lot against the V6 thing... i mean, i know it's tough for you, but i lived in Queanbeyan for so many years, the road next to mine was used as a dragging strip, so if the P platers can't use high power vehhicles, then they are less likely to go out and brake the law that way (or get caught before they do) then there is the issue that they are way more powerful. Most of the ones these days have such a sealed environment inside so you can never really get a feel of how fast you are going, and with such a powerful car, you might be hitting speeds of 120 before you know it, or higher. I've seen it happen so many times. And a lot of the time, the crashes of p platers are because they loose control at high speeds, but they might not even realise they are going that fast before it's too late. I know it's a bother to you, Tal, but i really feel that people shouldn't be going near the higher power cars until they have enough experience to be able to handle one. And only 6 months on your P's is not enough experience.
My dad's an ex-copper, who used to work the Federal Hwy, and i have heard enough horror stories from him about inexperienced drivers loosing control of high power cars and crashing because of it. If youre lucky, they only take themselves down, but most of the time they kill someone else.
People keep forgetting cars are a weapon, they're very very dangerous.
That being said, i do want a motorbike, but my mother has threatened to disown me if i do *sigh*

hehe... motorbike vs dis-owning. Sounds like my mum n tatoos. Actually i did an assign at uni on young drivers and yeah its inexperience that most times leads to accidents. I myself am a green p.plater and i feel bad for those affected by the new 4 cylinder laws but do agree with them. i think that it would help if the legal age for driving was increased from 17 to 18 in NSW. And the stats from my survey support this

grrrrrr! I'm going to have a little rant about stupid people who decide that because they're taking their bratty kids to attend the art class that I'm running that it's OK to bring them half an hour early and dump them on me saying 'oh, it doesn't start at 12.00? Well I have to be somewhere so you can just deal with it... blah blah.' I wish I had the courage to have said 'Listen lady! I'm not being paid to be a glorified babysitter to your kids, I'm eating my lunch and I don't want to have to keep your brats occupied until more people arrive' insetead of which I actually said 'Oh.... you're a bit early.' grrrrrr
How Rude!
Also glitter is the tool of the devil! You have to use it cos the place I'm working for has NO budget... It sticks to everything, so you end up looking like a tragic teeny bopper out for a spot of nightclubbing, who decides wow it'tll be like so excellent if I dust myself with glitter...NOT It is terrible to sweep up and you always get some child who manages to unscrew the top of the shaker so that the whole lot of it dumps out all over the table... It Is evil I tells ya.
hehehe *feels better* God I hate school holidays! I do these classes to get the money... It's my mantra. 'Think about the money..... pay the bills ..... money for food....'

YES!!!
I AM NOT A GLORIFIED BABY SITTER!!!
NOR AM I THERE TO TAKE THE TROUBLESOME KIDS OFF THEIR TEACHER'S HANDS FOR AN HOUR. I AM THERE TO TEACH THEM SOMETHING!!! I AM THERE TO HELP KIDS WHO ARE SICK, OKAY!!!
I AM NOT JUST A CONVENIENT DUMPING GROUND!
BITE ME!!!
(In essence: I agree Rigel. I feel your pain!)

Don't you just wish you could say that!!
I'm a professional damn you!! I'm teaching your brats a skill for very little renumeration as a community service. If you want a babysitter hire one! It'd cost you more for 3 hours anyway! and finish off with a well deserved profanity...
We need a thread - Things I wish I had said... for those moments in life whre a quick comeback was beyond you ;D

Oh, absolutely.
*shares pain with Rigel*
I'd like to say... um... "Bite me! Take your troublesome child and send me someone with depression instead, jerk!"
Actually... I wish I was empowered not to take them. The teachers get to pick, I should be allowed to say NO like we can at my other job.

I hate it too, i suppose, unlike you two, i'm meant to be acting like a big sister to my midgets, someone who is meant to help girls grow into responsible and amazing young women (damn, they've drilled me well) So i can't even come close to pulling the "I'm a professional" line, I just hate the parents who just assume you're there for their convinience. They want a weekend without their kids, and so when you have a camp, they try to put the other children along with you. We have this one parent, she has a girl in the older group, who i look after, and one in the younger. there is about three years difference between the two. Well, she tried to send the older one away on the little girl's camp, and tried to leave the younger one at one of my big girls meetings. She regularily drops both the girls off at the little girl's meetings, and then disappears before you can run out and say "HEY TAKE YOUR KID BACK!" Not that i don't love her girls, the older one is just amazing, i love her to bits. But she shouldn't be with the little girls, she spends the whole meeting bored out of her mind, the poor girl, and she's only 10, so she's not really in the responsible realm, where she can happily help out with the little girls. No, she's not leadership material, this girl won't become a leader because it doesn't interest it. Yet her mother keeps forcing her off onto us, and simply so she can run back to her boyfriend. Her girls were just for show, and nothing else, and i think the older girl is starting to notice it. And speaking of trophy kids, we have the ultimate one in little girls, she's a spoilt brat in every sense of the word. Her mother handles her with money. And then, when her behaviour becomes unbareable and an embarressment to her mother, her mother takes it out on her. Completely lashing out at the child. One of my mothers told me she saw this girl being dragged through a carpark literally by her hair, by her fed up mother. But it's not the child's fault! It's the mother's! It's not the child's fault her mother should never have had kids! I hate it. I see girls who have so much damn potential, and it is ruined by their stupid parents. People like that don't deserve kids. Money doesn't make you a good mother. And then people wonder when i say i don't ever want children. GAH it makes me irritated!!!! I'm supposed to take an invested interested in this girls, but because i'm only 20 and have never had a child, their parents brush me off, and there is no way i can approach them about it anyway. I might be 20, but i know how to treat kids better than they do.
