I think all the research showed how amazingly different we all are... That's why I love this site cause everybody has such strong views and is willing to not only show them but fight for them... e.g. Min and "Matthew is the Destroyer" - I've never seen anybody argue a point so much or wittle everybody else down like she does... It's interesting to watch - The woman sure does have strength! hehe!!! Just try and prove me wrong!! *Isobelle Carmody steps up to the podium* ok...I'll be good. lol. "You have to fight for what you care about and believe in." (did anyone else find Rushton's saying that a TAD creepy?!)

nah... Our Rushtons a fighter I think you are refering to that quote right at the end of the farseekers when he's talking to Elspeth and asks her to dance *Swoon!*... I think it's rough & strong & manly of him to show so openly that he is willing to do whatever it takes to be the one in her life... It's shows how different men are from the Land and from real life cause I don't know anybody who would do that!!! (maybe it's just the crowd I attract) Solen does the same sort of thing in the Legendsong series with Glynna when he says that he'll go to the ends of the earth to be with her... I think it is the passionate romantic surfacing in IC when shes write about these major relationships... Plus she started a trend with finishing each OC book with a moment between FElf and Rush... I dare say the Sending will finish with them too! (I hope so! )

Probably, Isobelle has revealed that she's a hopeless romantic!
Ok, when I read it, I thought it was really romantic and exciting but now I'm a Dameon supporter it's like NO!!! lol

out of interest, what swayed you? coz i bet 99% of people when they first read that nad the stuff at the end of ashling were going *swoon swoon* "omg thats so perfect!" just like i was! so whats changed? and whats wrong with "i have always fought for what i believe in"?? ?? ?? i agree with glynna, its strong and manly!!! and it shows how much he loves her!!!

Strong and Manly?
It's possesive and creepy!!!
But I'm going to shut up now, because I always get belligerent and offensive when it comes to this topic, and I'm already seen as a bit Miryum-like!

It's strong and manly - but it's also possessive in a way that reminds me of how he wants to trap her...like Elspeth's nothing but prey... What swayed me...reality actually!! You could say it's personal...I had a really rough time at the end of last year with this guy...anyway, long story short and painful memories aside, this guy chose someone else without even giving me a second thought. Despite the strength of friendship and love he SAID he had for me, I wasn't good enough. At the time someone was relating about Dameon VS Rushton on the theories board - how Rushton just 'won' despite the strength of friendship behind Dameon & Elspeth. That Rushton seemed to scare her, while Dameon was safe and secure and the only person she'd pour her heart out to. It didn't seem fair all of a sudden - why was his love totally overlooked (in the same way that mine was)? Wouldn't you personally rather go out with someone you have an amazing emotional connection with, rather than someone who you fear and can't communicate with? That lead to assessing WHY Elf chose Rushton (to try and understand what had happened to me...I know I use very bad life examples considering this is fiction). And it still doesn't make sense...and probably never will. They are scared and jealous of each other. Not a good basis for a relationship. Hope that explains that... it doesn't matter now anyway, because I've found someone about a million times better than that little heartbreaker from last year...*hugz Kiwi-Paul*

Your right it is a debate board!!! On a topic I love to... RUSHTON!!! (Smiley) Ok min... So my interpretation on the whole situations is much, much different... My entire life I've had great friends around me and every crush I've ever had I've become attached to the person and we've ended up become really good friends... Too gooder friends to then start a relationship with because although there is an emotional bond, we've shared to much as friends that it is almost out of the question to progress to the next level! Just lately I became slightly involved with an acquaintance of mine and began to have feels for me... We were starting to become friends and I was thinking "Oh no, not again" but I KNEW he had the same sort of feelings for me.. No I don't know what exactly went wrong but I asked him immediatley if he was interested in me so that I knew where I stood... He said not at this point in time... WHY?!? I don't know but I wanted him to fight for me and be strong enough to show me his feelings to get the ball rolling. We are now VERY GOOD FRIENDS and I hate myself for letting another one slip though my fingers (I've been really emotional about the whole thing because still I don't know where I stand) That's why when I read about Rushton's 'fight' for Elspeth I think it's romantic... He hasn't been aarid to show Elf he has loved for a long time and even she has known that... I wouldn't call it possessive (although the psycho Daemon supports seem to think so!) I'd call it a desire... To love her and fight to protect her and keep her from harms way... P.S. Min I'm shocked to see your daemon supporter... and I though we would get along!!! hahahaha ;D

Well, I probably have the most unusual view about relationships of all.
I don't like dating at all. I'm celibate, and commitment lazy (there's a difference between commitment lazy and commitment phobic!). I have been in love PROPERLY only once in my life. We were friends. Not Elf and Damo friends though. More sort of... well, to be honest we were kinda Elf/Rushton friends. You know that respect you have, but you can't really be friends because you know there's that kind of semi awkwardness that comes from the attraction. Anyway, this guy was HOT! And I was mad about him. Absolutely adored him!
Cut a long story short, it ended badly. VERY VERY BADLY! (YOU know what I'm talking about Talmina/Jess) I then dated a friend of mine for six weeks on the rebound. (He was too clingy though, and I realised that dating wasn't my scene)
Anyway, the point is, I don't believe in relationships because I believe they're too much trouble and that the advantages are far outweighed by the disadvantages (ie the agony). A guy has to earn my love, and any guy characters I write have to earn the love of my main character and it's the same when I read. I like the love interest to really EARN the love of the heroine.
At least, I think that's why I'm a Dameon supporter...
I've never really examined it before. I guess Rushton reminds me too much of a guy I once knew, who I loved simply because he was charming, attractive and apparently a nice guy. He DIDN'T earn my love and he broke my heart. Elf has always been attracted to Rushton and that bothers me because he hasn't done anything to make her feel that way. He says he's fought for her, but not the way he should. He hasn't changed anything for her, or really (in my opinion) worked hard enough for her. Dameon has, and in her place, I'd choose Dameon, because Rushton doesn't deserve her. He hasn't proved himself through consistent loyalty, and Dameon has proved himself through his sweetness.
That's what I think anyway

Not to drag the point out at all, but... I take things at face value. It wasn't until I started coming on here that I knew Dameon liked elspeth... because it's not at all obvious, and the whole thing with Rushton and Elf is... I just feel like Elf and Dameons friendship is such a special and sacred part of the whole story. If they got involved and something went wrong, you could never get that sort of friend-bond back. Fine, thats very pesimistic thinking but it's a reality that all relationships may have to face... Yet if something goes wrong between Rush/Elf after the akwardness, a great friendship can be formed then was there before... KSL... I'm with you on the whole " the advantages are far outweighted by the disadvantages" when it comes to relationships... It's been a long time since I feel in love but I do believe Rushton has fought for Elf, emotionally not physically whereas Dameon has just stayed in the darkness and waited for it to happen... How can you feel bad for him when he has never moved to truely show how he feels?

I guess... it's just occured to me!
I know we've all been agreeing that I'm Miryum, but not in the real world. In the cyberworld, sure. But in real life, when you get right down to it, I guess...
I'm Dameon...

Yep. And I'm madly in love with Elf! And I'm a Sadorian Tribesman!
What I meant was that when I fall in love, I do it the way Dameon did. So I sympathise with him!
