i dunno, theyve gotten so dark now, its hard to believe theyre meant for kids! i like the first three books best because theyre a lot lighter hearted than the next 2, and i think the 6th is only going to get worse. is this the final book coz i thought there was a 7th but i could be wrong. anyone know?

yup! there are 7 books, at least! She might end up writing an 8th, but there are 7, one for each school year.
The books were specifically written for kids, that's not what Rowling set out to do. I love how the books have gotten darker, except for the fact that my favourite chacarters die and that there is a possibility that the books wont end 'Happily Ever After', but I think it makes them more real. I like the way she's done it.

Yes, she has witten them very well. And for anyone who hasn't seen Emerald's post on the main board on this topic, here is the link the the offical JK Rowling site. www.jkrowling.com/Tis an excellent site, and provides quite a lot of character/book info which I found quite interesting. But yeah, Rowling has confirmed on the site that the HBP isn't Harry or Voldermort. The conversation on teh main board has led me to the conclusion that it is a character that we already know, and possable one of the Gryffindor boys. Dean Thomas or Seamus Finnigan. Or maybe Colin Creevy. I just think that it is someone we already know.

yup my bets on some minor character like colin creevy or dennis or someone...but the new DADA teacher could be as well...theyre not having much luck with DADA teachers are they? lupin was the best! i wonder whatll happen to the DA in the next one? if its a bad teacher would it still be going on? hmmm..... how else could prince be interpreted?

Hmmm, other interpretations for prince. Hold on a tick, what does my dictionary say...........*Gets out dictionary and serches for prince*
Ahem, according to my dictionary, here be the definition of a prince
- "A chief ruler; the son of a king or emperor; the chief of any body of men."
So, me thinks that he doesn't have to be a prince as such. He could be an important leader or something like that. Does the wizarding world even have royalty? Cos I didn't think so. Anyway, yeah, that's what I think.

Yeah I dont think there is royalty in the Wizarding world, the closet thing I could thinkof... chief ruler, would possibly be minister of Magic. Does Cornelius have a son? cause Fudge would be considered king? and his son prince?
I dont think it can mean prince literally, unless of course there is a new character. A muggle? I mean someone like Harry? Who is half half and living with muggles?

As eager you are in saying that it's Hagrid, I just don't see it happening. I s'pose it could be him, there certainly is evidence pointing to it, but I don't know... something about him just doesnt seem to be working for me.
I don't know....

You know we're having this discussion on two boards, which we're not allowed to do. Suggest we all relocate to the Members Main Board.
Anyway, Harry is considered a sort of Prince in the wizard world, what with defeating the Dark Lord and all. I don't think it means it literally at all. ANd I really am leaning towards Dean Thomas.
Go to JKRowling.com. She seems to have a very suspicious amount of information about such a minor character!!!

Oooh, I really like the idea of Dumbledore. We don't really know anything about him. I think he's a good posibility, though it seems like the HBP is to be someone thats isnt such a main character
