I'm saying that Rushton's emotions have been heightened by Dameon's feelings.
Bec - love the banner!!! I agree, put it in your sig!

Yup, I have Making it very clear where my allegiances lie! Perhaps I should start a club - TDWTSMS - The Down With The Seraphim Monarchy Society Just kidding, I'm not that fanatical. *Shifty eyes* [/color]

I was wondering what had happened to all the Rushton fans out there, what with the horrid putting-down of the poor man at the Mystics Ball *Glares at Bec*, but apparently you're all still here! Wo0t!

But the horrid putting down was so much fun! Rushton brings out the worst in me, I'm usually nice to everyone. Ah well, there's an exception to every rule.

The thing that gets me is that Rushton is Master of Obernewtyn because - why? Genetics. Inheritance. Dameon is called - by many a person - Rushton's conscience. Implying that without Dameon's guidance and advice, Rushton wouldn't be perceived as a very adept master at all. inheritance, he owns the place. he's an adept master of obernewtyn. This is obvious in Obernewtyn when he is trying to get the house. Also, its apparant how much he loves Elspeth, "I risk more lives than my own" in helping you. He mostly leaves the guilds run the place and makes some important decisions, usually for the safety and wellbeing of the people at Obernewtyn. how do u mean 'projected onto Rushton'? why would that happen? why would she go for one in front of her face...unless she loved him. I think sometimes ppl feel more like they love someone if he/she is loved by that person but i think usually they would love them some bit. Probably. maybe she does, but i havent seen anything to suggest that this is so. we know she loves him a lot. but not in love. Elspeth hasn't had any fantasies of swimming naked with Dameon.
Rushton is usually cold and unemotional. Elspeth is one exception. He's in love with her and very soppy and over-protective.

Dameon has that wall/shield/block between him and elspeth soemtimes, perhaps this si to hide his true feelings? i know elspeth is no empath but even a non-talent can feel things when they are strong enough. But i really do think Elspeth lvoes Rushton as he lvoes her. in The Keeping Place when she comes abck from over the wall and she asks him to swim that last stretch if she did not love him he would ahve felt that and may nit have come back to conciousness

But then again, it was Dameon's mindcall that saved her in Sador. Where was Rushton? Sulking in the desert, that's where! Down with the Seraphim Monarchy I tell you, DOWN!

maybe she does, but i havent seen anything to suggest that this is so. we know she loves him a lot. but not in love. Elspeth hasn't had any fantasies of swimming naked with Dameon. I haven't got much time now, but what of Elspeth's total, utter relief to have Dameon nearby in TKP, and also in Ashling? She relies on him more than she knows, she loves him more than she knows. I sympathise with her entirely because if I've had a bad day, I go home and I am TOTALLY relieved to see Paul, and just fall into a hug. It's because you know there's someone around you who can hold you up for a moment. That's not all, but it's a definate part of love.

I think Dameon would be best for her. Empathy is the only Talent she lacks, and Dameon is an Empath! He completes her

True, I've always thought that Elspeth was a bit greedy with talents.

Greedy? A main character can never be too greedy! ;D In fact, I never liked how Dragon was stronger than Elf, because it meant that Elf wasn't so special any more
Back to the topic though, the fact that Elf didn't go for Dameon, the obvious 'nice' guy, and chose Rushton instead plainly implies that they were meant for each other. She saw through Rushton's faults into the real man inside and realised that she loved him. If that makes sense. Sure she loves Dames, but as Fuil Dearg said, not in that way.

i never thought she was more powerful than our Elf. i thought she was more....equal.
and i agree -its more of a brother-sister relationship between Elf and Dames. she loves D but there's no real physical attraction..... yet (-i hate to say 'yet' ~Rushton fan forever here~ but there is still a possibility)

He should retain his sanity - otherwise, who would inherit Obernewtyn? Defective people can't inherit (eg Stephen). I think he's just traumatised.
Back on topic, she DOES love Dameon though. She falls into his arms in relief when she sees him!! Remember how confused Elspeth was when she was feeling things about Rushton in Farseekers, then wondering to herself "geez...is this...love?". She's not all that grown up, she still doesn't know what half her feelings are. She loves Dameon - she just doesn't know how to express it or recognise it properly.
She'll only realise it when he's gone, I expect...

i still think its a brother/sister type love, like the way Rogue loves Wolvie.

He should retain his sanity - otherwise, who would inherit Obernewtyn? No, he shouldn't, because then we can all cheer: DOWN WITH THE SERAPHIM MONARCHY! ;D

LOL!!! Indeed, why didn't I think of that?!
Obernewtyn should most definately elect a leader, rather than just default to the Monarchy. Hm...that gives me an idea *sneaks away giggling* ...
