They're great admins. I fully expected they'd been in bed, getting some well-deserved sleep. Instead, they've been up all night there, trying to get it fixed for all us addicts.
Hopefully, when we wake up tomorrow morning, it'll all be working again.
Anyone for a round of choca?

You're not wrong, Frankie. I plan to simply celebrate its being-backness. * takes some freshly baked chocolate muffins out of the oven* It's OK, Squarmi, the pain starts to dull eventually.

Unfortunately, as Frankie found out, you have to pay for a DeadJournal. You have to pay for DeadJournal now? Wow. I have a DeadJournal. I haven't used it for yonks, but I got it back when you needed a code to get a LiveJournal. What a long time ago that is now. I too am missing my LiveJournal. I planned to post about how drunk I didn't get last night, and how much the movie Almost Famous rocks. Riveting stuff, hey?

Yes, I just read the blurb by the guy who runs it and he was explaining it was so he didn't end up with more users than he could handle and to help with the running costs, etc. It's a little cheaper than a paid account at LJ, but I'm too dedicated to LJ to even think of deserting it. Besides, all of those journals (DeadJournal, Greatest Journal, Insane Journal, and so on) use the code created by LiveJournal, so they're pretty much the same as each other.
And I second Cat-Eyes' notion of shouting all the LJ admins to choca!

Yes, I've been all twitchy and nerves a jangle without LJ today. I feel bad for poor guys who have just sold it only to have it (temporarily) die on them.
I feel so cut off. It's been a year and a bit for me too, Buneater, and it has changed my life and my relationships with various friends. There are things that can be written but not spoken, and you learn a lot about people you thought you knew when you read one another's journals. That sounds excessive but it is true.
I should go and sleep, hoping my journal will be returned intact (and with all the locks still one!) in the morning.
Thank god for Ober-net.

It's getting to the stage where you start wondering if it's some sort of sophisticated sabotage on behalf of Six Apart, who recently bought LJ out. I think I'm just being paranoid. But seriously - it's been over twenty-four hours now! What are we supposed to do? And the latest update seems to imply that some journals won't be restored completely, due to problems with the old database. Luckily, very few journals were on the old database, but still... * hopes her little LJ is OK* If you don't mind, I think I'll go and nervously eat some cheesecake...

Apparently, something similar happened to Blogger a couple of years ago and it almost destroyed them. (And their system was only down for a couple of hours - not more than a day.) They were later bought out by Google. I shan't abandon you, LiveJournal!
