*very quietly* Well, i was really happy when John Howard got re-elected, Mark Latham is an utter idiot, and i don't agree with pretty much anything you just said Raineth, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion, afterall.

Great. Probable senate majority
Prepare for virtual dicatatorship, people. Prepare for war. Prepare for a massive rise in Uni costs. Prepare for no more Medicare.
Yesterday was one of the worst of my life. I am immensely depresssed.
John Howard can now do WHATEVER he wants.
Am seriously, quite honestly, contemplating moving overseas.

I have to agree with cat-eyes. I can't say I love the liberals, but I can say Latham's, well... I'm not going to say what I think...

I was SOOOO happy when John Howard won. I would have been the one crying if Latham had won. I mean, his policies sucked, in my opinion. He might have had one or two that were ok, but the majority were pathetic.

Yeah we felt like leaving too. we feel like singing "where have all the morals gone?"
But atleast we're all passionate about what we believe even if it is very different hey Cat-Eyes? which is much better than not givin' a toss.

Although I would have preferred a Labour government, I'm not too fussed about that. The bit that's worrying is the Liberals getting a majority in the Senate too. As Kayt said, they can now do pretty much whatever they want without having to convince anyone else that it's a good idea...

Eghh. The commentators are saying it was such a comprehensive win, too, that they may well have won themselves another two terms. Gah.

Time to leave the country then eh? South Island of NZ is nice, and it's very LotR-ish and infested with gorgeous elves. Who's for a relocation?!
I tried to avoid everything to do with election propaganda. All I remember is what it was like when I was growing up...it was tough, but it seemed more fair. And now what it's been like since that stoopid little GNOME has been PM. Taxes, battling, it's a load of bullocks. I know that it's not going to get any easier with the government's 'keep everyone in their places' policies, if you know what I mean. But it's really exchanging one idiot for another isn't it? I have an alignment to the democrats, purely because Natasha Scott-Despoya used to be on JJJ all the time, and I thought she would have been an awesome PM. But it doesn't matter. Johnnie-boy's gotten in for another few years of making fools of the Australian public by kissing up to George Dub-ah-yah and stuttering his speeches. Anyone would have been better than that ridiculous excuse for a public figure. Why why WHY did he get back in? Honestly, leaving Australia seems VERY feasable these days.
And seeing as voting is compulsory in Australia, I maintain that I have a right to complain about it ;D

What scares me more than the fact that Howard won(if anything could, I know the impossible has happened), it is that Family First have got into the Senate. I mean what kind of a country is this??? How could people vote for them. We live in a country where the leadership gives power to crazy people who want to burn lesbians at the stake like witches. I mean come on. Also it gets really scary when the people of a country begin to care more about money than humanity and the environment.

Iris I feel your pain! I too can't believe that people care more about something like interest rates than the lives of people. It is so disheartening. But only 2% voted for FFP (which is alot anyway I know) But they mainly got their senate seats because of preference deals with certain other parties including the Democrats. Min, I really liked Natasha too, but the Dems got rid of her and they sold out on the GST. I think that party is headed in a different direction now. Yeay for JJJ they are my station of choice too.
