Two Australian legends have died today. First, we heard the news of Steve Irwin's tragic death and now it appears that the well-loved children's author, Colin Thiele, has also died. Linkage: Storm Boy Author DiesI studied one of his books, Sun on the Stubble, in Year Eight and I remember it as one of the few English books that I actually enjoyed reading. He definitely leaves behind an incredible legacy in his books.

That's so sad!
Now I have to admit here... I recognised immediately Colin Thiele's name and knew immediately that he was the author of Storm Boy but I can't actually remember that book. I know I read it when I was about seven but I've forgotten...
Oh dear.

oh that's sad. We always had to read his books in school, he was such a good author. Yesterday was such an unfortunate day

Wow, wot are the chances of them dying on the same day?! That's just creepy. They say deaths come in threes...geep? I remember reading Jodie's Journey and loving it...and Shatterbelt, he wrote that too, didn't he? I loved that book to death. Then there was the sequel, which I always remember was really hard to find... I wasn't a huge fan, but he's one of those writers that I think every Australian encounters at some point. How sad

I loved Blue back, or whatever it was called, that he wrote! It's such a sad day!

Oh my goodness! well, it sounds as though he was very sick, so I suppose on some levels this is sad, but inevitable. People don't live forever, and I hope that his legacy will continue with kids just like it did with us. Aussie kids need great Aussie books .

Today I was cleaning out the spare room and I found and old collection of books and guese what book was there? - Storm Boy! I had forgotten I had it long ago and I opened it up and saw my name in the cover. Now because of finding that book I'm a little more sad. I used to watch the movie Storm Boy a lot when I was younger. That is one of those movies that I just watched a lot of times because I really liked it. Now I'm really sad
