I'm a venturer scout in Victoria, Australia. (I think your SA means South Australia, but I'm not sure... ) Flit's a guide leader and she's the only one I can think of at the moment. I think Bun was a Brownie at some point... Anyway, I've been in scouting for 11 years, I joined a week before I turned 6, and I'm still in the same group although when I was in cubs we did change our name. I was a PL at the 2004 Adelaide Jamboree and I'm going as a venturer to the one in Elmore in January. I'm a cub leader now, too. So, what about you? Cat

The only memories scouting brings back is a certain episode of the Goodies. Heh, gotta love that show.

I was a girl guide for a year, but my group was quite cat-y and hated the outdoors so I left. I wanted to go camping I did have fun though, and we slaughted the scouts next door at soccer frequently ;D

Scouts go camping!! I mean, we don't do as much in Venturers as we did in Scouts because ultimately we are lazy and busy, but camping's fun!!
It really depends on the group and the leaders. I had some REALLY good leaders in scouts and they just made it awesome, but I know some groups just suck.
It's so much fun being a cub leader, they're so funny!

I was a Brownie from age 7, and then a Guide until I was 14, then a Young Leader (I don't know if you had them, it's a kind of junior leader. We didn't have enough interested girls my age for a Ranger Guide unit and I was too busy with school work to try for my Baden Powell Award, so I did that instead). I qualified as a Guider at 18, but then I left for uni, so I never actually got my own Brownie pack. I will one day, though, when I have more time. I miss it quite a lot.

Wow..so many. I was a gumnut (i was in the first group established in my area), it was a group for girls to young to be brownies. I was a brownie for a fair while. I was there when we changed our name from brownies to Rainbow Guides (i hated that name), I was a patrol leader also. I then moved up to the Yandia guides and loved it. I was patrol leader for most of my time there and on my second Lady Stradbroke (sp) camp my patrol achieved a perfect score for camp set up, our string and wood creations (knots), food prep and other such things. It was unfortunate that our numbers diminished and when I got to year 12 i left so as to focus on my studies. I dont think my local Guides runs anymore. I really miss it. I recall helping my Mum for a while, she was the Gumnut leader and I helped out to earn a badge. My favorite Guides moment...the sleep out in the Melbourne Zoo! *reminisces*

I'm a guide, but have been a joey and a cub. I'm also an assistant cub leader (for my gold duke of edinburgh) and enjoy it, even though we have a nasty group of nine year old boys... grrr...
