i bought 3 computer books. a book on java. €20 (AUS$33) 1362 pages. one on javascript. €10 (AUS$16.50) 192 pages. and one on microprocessors and digital sytems. €7 (AUS$11.50) 474 pages.
i also bought 10 books at €0.50 (AUS$0.85) each. they were small and thin and mostly fiction for young readers.
my books were quite heavy and i was carrying my college bag aswell.
the 13 books costed me €42 (AUS$67) altogether. which was quite cheap. i got the books second hand.
I'll be reading them over the summer.

and i just booked an $80 hair appointment, who feels intellectual now!
awwwww........
But i did do that the other day, went into a second hand book store and went insane. I always go a bit mad about second hand book stores. And i keep having to remind myself "Yes, if you had bought those at new price you would be paying well over $100 for them...." the problem being i don't even have the money for that.
and to justify the hair appointment, i'm getting it cut and coloured. and it's my birthday soon, so this, and a new pair of jeans, are my birthday present.

There is no better feeling in the world than going on a book buying binge I should know because I did the same at the start of the holidays. I bought all of George RR Martin's books as well as a heap of others that I had been waiting for. Big fat next book in a series kind of books It felt very satisfying to walk up to the counter at A&R with 22 titles and then hand over all the book vouchers I'd been hoarding since christmas. I'm now spoiled with books to read for the next month.

Oooh! I just bought a cd from Amazon! It's actually working out to be quicker and cheaper than ordering it through a store here...

I dunno. The cd I wanted was had a bit of a discount on it, but I think even at full price plus the postage it would have ended up being about the same as price as if I'd bought it here. I bought it from Amazon also cause any store here was going to have it order it in from the US anyways which'd take about a month or so before they got it in. Ok, so that doesn't really answer your question... Well, it's worth checking out. Sometimes it's cheaper (and more convient... and quicker in this case) and sometimes it's not

i am currently reading 3 of the 10 small books that i bought; The Clocktower Ghost, The Endless Steppe (a true story about a polish girl and her family who were moved to Siberia during WWII for being criminals of capitalism. It's a very good book) amd Treasure Island. Treasure Island is excellent. I had no idea it was so good before i read it. I liked the film and the muppets treasure island. I lost my 3 computer books while i was in the city

I went all the way to Wagga to be able to find some of the books I had ben wanting for a while. i found a used book shop and a new book shop and picked up a couple of IC books and a heap of Ian Irvine ones as well. I also purchased about 40 CD's in a music shop up there....so cool they have the biggest range of country music I have ever seen. Cheers

i finally finished one of the 13 books i bought. i read the last 11 chapters (24 chapters in the book) of The Endless Steppe in the early hours of this morning. i woke up and couldnt sleep. i really enjoyed and liked the book. it is a true story and is written by the girl that it is about, Esther Hautzig. she recounts her life from the age of ten when she and her family are taken prisoner by communist soldiers during world wwii to when the german army is defeated when she is 15. she has a sense of humour which i liked a lot. the book is both serious and light, and told as much of her life as a young girl and teenager as it did of her life as a prisoner and foreigner in a strange land during wwii. it is a very memorable book and i would recommend it on many levels, for those who are interested in what life was like for polish deportees during wwii and for those who want to read a book about human nature. i especially liked the last few chapters of it. chapter 21 showed an interesting and perhaps darker side of human nature. the book ends well.

my sis is a huge country music fan -its all she listens too! going driving with her is painful sometimes - i'm not a fan of the modern stuff, although some of it is okay. i'm with DO - i like the older country, the more blues'n'roots style country.
but back to books- my home town has this amazing second hand bookstore -its rumoured to be the largest second hand store in Australia! you can go in there and just become lost! i spend hours in there. they had, a few years ago, a first edition print of the Arabian Nights. it was sooooo expensive! i can't remember how much, but i nearly collapsed. even one such as i, who loves books so much, could never warrant spending so much on one book!
but i love second hand stores - there is something about knowing that others have read and handled the books - its like feeling part of a huge community or something. that probably sounds really lame, but, meh, thats how i feel. its like the books are more dignified somehow...
