Well, as of the early hours of Tuesday morning i shall be flying out to Spain.
Four friends and I are flying in to Malaga airport, picking up our free hire car and then driving to Algorfa (near Alicante), to spend a week in a nice quiet apartment. We then get to visit Valencia at the end of the week as we're flying out from there.
I probably wont be online at the weekend (as usual), but i shall try and logon for a bit on Monday before i go. One of my friends is taking his laptop, so i may be bale to logon during the week.
Anyway, see you all in a week or so

If i could afford to take the detour i'd take a holiday in Aus instead!
All went reasonably well on the holiday, though i shall tell you all about it tomorrow. This is the first chance i've had to come on here today, as i've been very busy

Lol! I hardly bought any gifts. Sorry Kay *grugs*
The holiday:
Right, where to start...
One of my friends had to drive down there on the Saturday, as his boss (at the car hire firm) has a villa out there and wanted his new car brought down. We then had the old car (a four year old Renault Meganne with retractable hardtop roof) for the duration of the holiday.
Another friend and I flew out from Gatwick Airport at about 7.15am and landed in Malaga airport a couple of hours later. My other friend with the car then picked us up and we drove for about 300 miles up to Algorfa where we were staying (near Alicante). We just had time to drop our bags off and have a cup of tea before we had to drive to Valencia (an hour away) to pick up my fourth friend from the airport. We were all pretty knackered by the time we got back to the apartment.
The next few days of the holiday were spent relaxing in the apartment, site-seeing, going to the beach and generally having a good time. Most nights we stayed up till about 6am playing cards.
On Thursday, however, someone backed into our car whilst it was parked. They had a tow ball on the back which punched a hole in the nose of our car and popped part of the front bumper off. They didn’t even leave any details!
We didn’t let it spoil our holiday though.
Sunday my friend (who went out on Saturday) and I decided to we’d best bring the car home, so we drove from Alicante back to England. We left at 1.30pm on Sunday and returned to the UK at 6pm the next day. We got to drive through some amazing parts of Spain and France. We passed Barcelona, went across the border into France. We went past Milau and over the new viaduct, which is taller than the Eiffel Tower (the road deck is 250m in the air). We then went through the central mountain range. The road at its highest point was 1100m above sea level, and it was only about 6 deg C, bloody cold when you’re only wearing shorts and a t-shirt!
We then went through Paris and out from Boulogne to Dover and back home. We only got about an hours sleep each on the way back, so we were pretty tired. On Tuesday evening, I then had to go and pick my other two friends up from the Airport and didn’t get home till about 2.30am. I was very tired at work the next day!
All in all it was a good holiday, and has definitely helped me relax a bit from the stress at work, and all the other emotional stuff I’ve had to go through recently.

It's good to hear that you had a good break. I hope it gave you a chance to clear your head and get some perspective on things. It's so odd for us to imagine spending the week in Spain - it takes us half a week just to get there Shame about the car though.

we drove from Alicante back to England. I know I sound ignoant, but is Alicante in England? Because if it's not, how did you drive from Alicante to England? I thought England was watter-locked...

Alicante is in the south of Spain.
England is waterlocked, but we have car ferrys that run between England and France, and there's also the Channel Tunnel, where you can take a passenger train, or take you car on a train under the channel

Finally!!!
I can now respond to this message to say that like other people on this thread, YES I am on holidays too... although I'm still not sure what to do with myself. I still do have schoolwork to do.. marking and such, but I can spend more time with my family.
Friends outside of school's another matter though since they all work and have dodgy short holidays that don't match with mine.
Anyhoo,
For anyone else on holidays, I hope they're enjoyable.
