Welcome Grunty! Such a bugger you can't get a hold of the other books. Poke your librarians more! They should have all the books.
Hope you have lots of fun about Ober. Come join the fun in the library or the madness in the dinningroom! and while you're at it, have a picnic basket
*hands over a picnic basket filled with spark plugs*
And what is Airsoft?

Welcome, welcome! Indeed, poke your librarians about getting the other Obernewtyn books in. If they know their stuff, they'll do it for you, especially if you're a regular visitor. Enjoy your time here, good Grunter.

That must suck not having all of the books! And I've been complaining about the amount of time it's taken to get the next one... poor thing (join the Dreamweavers if you don't have a guild!) Love your pic by the way! Reminds me of someone I know...

Happy to assimalte... i mean educate you on airsoft katiska. it is a game that alot of people, especially in my town play. We have guns that shoot little plastic bb's at each other and from then on its pretty much like paintball, except cheaper. Games every so often. its quite fun.

Ah, yeah. It sounds a lot like the game Lazerforce I played. We had 2 teams and ran around with light guns in this dark room. I ended up spraining my wrist.. heh heh

Already have it seems. airsoft is cheaper than paintball, the bb's leave little welts when you get hit, and depending on whether your wearing a big thick coat or not. i have a desert eagle, it hurts like a ------, and i got hit in the neck with my freinds pistol. i was on the ground swearing for about 30 seconds. i still have that little welt.

Heya grunty! Welcome to obernet, shame the mystics got you so early on. They seem to have some sort of coordinated newbie ambush worked out. Shame about the inept library news though! Be a bit careful around the theory boards if you don't want too much spoiled. Otherwise, hope you have fun!

Welcome Grunty
Airsoft is fun. We used to run around my local woods with BB guns and shoot each other. However, its not fun when you only have a gas powered hand gun and someone is firing at you with a battery powered M-16 *grumbles*

Although a gun might come in handy in the UK... is it true that your policemen can't carry guns?

Post by Dark One on Jan 6, 2006 21:00:44 GMT 11
some do. Most police aren't trained in firearms, and don't want to carry guns. We have special armed police to deal with situations, and they can usualy be found patroling the airports too.
Our police may be getting tazer guns though

What's a tazer gun? Is it like a laser gun? Maybe sometimes though it is better for police to not have guns cos sometimes they make mistakes and shoot people who are innocent...

It's like a phaser set to "stun". It delivers an electric shock to the person you shoot and renders them incapable for a few minutes. In Switzerland all the police are armed. And, apparently, most households have guns because they have National Service here. But it's still one of the safest countries in the world. Perhaps also because they have National Service here, but I won't go into that.

It's like a phaser set to "stun". Oh...my god!! I love it. Please, please please, bring that to Oz. That'd be awesome. For some reason, I find that totally hilarious (though I'm betting I wouldn't if I was stunned with one ). Paul finds it really disturbing that the cops here are armed. In NZ apparently they aren't. I dunno. I figure they're just doing their jobs, right? I know a fair few QLD cops and they're really nice. Ultimately, they're there to protect us, not shoot randomly at people. However, untrained individuals owning guns is just wrong. It's like having an unlicensed driver behind the wheel of a tank. Total overkill. Tasers for everyone *zaps the lude smiley*

I don't think they're always armed here though. I was at a Crows V Power AFL match (Go the Mighty Crows!!!) and the umpires were... well being umpires and someone in the crowd (my dad ) asked the police if they could just shoot them to put us all out of our misery (it was said with lots of sarcasm) and the police held up his gun holder thing and said "Unfortunately we're not allowed to hold guns at the footy". So I guess they're only armed for particular jobs. I guess you wouldn't want some crazy Port supporter to get hold of a gun at the footy
