The koala was called Boggles. It smelled. (God, I hope this is right -- my memory isn't great.)
I have a really vague memory of a Lucy -- but I don't think I saw you on the Old Message Boards?

Oh! That koala. The last I heard, he was safe and sound (and smelly) with Lu in London town.

...was there another koala?!
Also, the 'join' page kept Not Working when I tried to use it. I submitted details, and it gave me a 'server error' or something. Sorry for being so vague, I can't quite rememer details. At all. Ever.

Pretty sure it's London UK -- last I remember, Lu was a fellow Britlander? I'm assured there isn't a London in Aus, but we could be wrong (it's a big place!)

Yes, London in the UK. The good Lu is one of our lovely international members. ...was there another koala?! Hehe. Good point. Also, I'll have a look into the problems with the Join Us page and see what's going on, although I might have to handball it over to Avvy, as she's pretty much in charge of that. EDIT> You're still on the slavers list, so we might be able to simply transfer you over. I'll ask Avvy about it today.

Cheers, Avra Lucy: wow, someone else in the North East? I think the closest anyone's been to me before was York. I always assume everyone's Australian. I'm always envious.

Hey. I've been lurking on this board for a week or two now, and it seems cool. If I use too much American slang, I'm sorry. Before now I've been almost exclusively on a forum where I was the only Australian, and I... don't really have much of a social life so... yeah. I left said board recently due to some harrassment issues, but I loved it there and I'm going back as soon as I get over my anxiety problems.
Anyway, I first read Obernewtyn when I was 12. I was reading it with my friend, and I didn't get to finish it. I found it again when I was 13, and finished readin the series. I then promptly went online and found Obernewtyn.net. But I didn't like the design of the forums, and I think was wary of forums at the time, so I didn't join anything. I also read The Keeping Place over and over and over. It's my favourite book, which I gather is unusual. I liked the way it showed daily life at Obernewtyn.
I reread the series when I was 14, and again recently. I never bought any of the books, but I borrow them from the library a lot. My favourite guild is the Teknoguild. I tried getting obsessed with the books again, but I got obsessed with South Park instead.
Speaking of South Park, would it be horribly pretentious of me to have a South Park avatar? Those are cool. Also, is there any difference between the guilds here? I looked for some info but couldn't find any.

Get a South Park Avatar-go to HELP then the third thing down under tenth writing competition and Bug List is Want a South Park Avatar? yes there is difference between the Guilds. Ashlings Have Cheesecake. btw, you should join Ashlings, it'll improve your Karma. are you a writer? do you like X-Men? do you live in Adelaide? Do you read TKP over and over WITHOUT reading the first 3 too? and last of all. WELCOME! stay around my friend.

Welcome to Ober.net, good Shwoo! We're a pretty harmless lot, so I hope you'll decide to stay and enjoy yourself around us. Feel free to make a South Park avatar! Many of us have them, although we're dressed up for the Mystics' Ball at the moment. You can find more info about making your SP avatar here, on the Help Board. If you'd like to drop by the Mystics' Ball, then head here. As for guilds, the main differences are the mascots, really. There's no obligation to join one, but if you'd like to, go to the main site and click on Join Us. You can select your preferred guild, or choose to be assigned randomly to a guild.

I hope so too. Several things I've read on this board have made me laugh out loud. In a good way. Get a South Park Avatar-go to HELP then the third thing down under tenth writing competition and Bug List is Want a South Park Avatar? Thanks, but I already knew how to get one. I just wanted to know if newbies were allowed to have them. Cheesecake? Tempting. ACtually, I don't like cheesecake, but it's been a while since I've had some. It may have changed since then. I procrastinate, but I am a writer. I don't know enough about it. The canon looks a little confusing by now. Canberra, actually. The line in my location thing is from a Tripod song. Yes. I didnt have the other three at the time. I know The Keeping Place far better than the other books, although I'm working on them. I'll try.

Lucy -- I used to live in Darlington! Although my geography is terrible, so I can't remember whether that's any nearer to Middlesbrough. I'm pretty sure it is.
Hello Shwoo! My social life is nil and it has been for years. I hope you get those problems sorted soon - I know that kind of thing can be awful.
I like the daily life at Obernewtyn too -- but the loneliness of the first two books is just IT for me!

Oh who really cares! i have NO LIFE AT ALL. i go to work. visit my cousin quite regularly, crash either my car or the cars of others (an expensive hobby yes but also quite satisfying) and well apart from obernewtyn and some 'other' websites (dont GO there GF), i dont have a life at all. i like my lifeless life, i feel like the undead.

Welcome Shwoo! Hope you enjoy yourself on here!
Jeneli: Tis nice to have another member in the UK. I think we'll have to go on a recruitment drive to get more!
Lucy: Britain may be small, but we were once the greatest nation on Earth! *gets dragged down from soapbox..*
Lol! It seems just the right size to us tho. At least i can drive to Scotland in a day without having to stop overnight

Shwoo, you should definately become a dreamie! Then every single member that's logged in at this very moment will be a dreamie! Plus, we have the most active guild board and, well, we're just such a friendly bunch!
