Yessiree-bob, the sudden rush of last-minute entries into my inbox can only mean one thing... For lack of anything better to do on a Sunday morning, I hereby declare the 2005 Moonfair closed. Many, MANY thanks to everyone who got involved, it's been awesome this year!! I'm now asking everyone to take the time to do a bit of an evaluation...so then everyone knows wot worked, and wot could be improved for next year. Quite simple really: List down a couple of stars (*) of any organisational things you really liked, eg, * I liked the length of the moonfair this year. * I liked having four tekkies in charge of the websites. Then list three sparks (^) of any activities you really liked, eg, ^ The Farseeker and Healer exams. ^ Crack the Code. ^ Min's uber-ober quiz. Then make a couple of wishes for next year's moonfair: ~ I wish the theme next year could be........ ~ I wish we had more/less activities because....... Does all that makes snese...? Thanks again, everyone! Now, let's get the pointage sorted asap so we can get that Moonfair cup back into the Ashling's trophy closet where it belongs.... Cheerio, FtS

Oh man was that a real HOOT!!! The moonfair was so much *appludes thoughs who made it happen* Now I'll have to what a hole year! Is this where I do the evaluation, FtS? I'll put it here than you can bump it to wherever you want it.
*The extention of length was good, though I have nothing to compare it to as I inly joined this year. *The multiple tekkies, (again, not knowing how it went last year) is good as there are a number of people you can go to to ask tekky problems.
My fav. would have to be: ^ All the artsy stuff, i.e Magi Art and Colour Me Norman ^ Things like Logic Puzzle and Crack the Code where fun for the mind ^ I liked all the expedition-ish stuff such as the Farseekers one and Magi's Puzzling Adventure (if only I could get past the third town, oh well) ^ There were some that I couldn't attempt but were quite creative and funny like the Animal Jokes Board, What the...?, the Empath Song writting and Anteloped!
~I really can't think of anything except for more artsy things, only cause thats the only thing I can do (I'm not so brilliant with words.)
Hope that was what you wanted And Yeah that trophy does belong to the Ashlings!

Ok, here's mine * I liked how all the comps started and ended all at the same time. No stressing about remembering which comps you wanted to enter finished when and whatnot. * I really liked Min's design and the templates! It made everything so much easier! ^ The Logic Puzzles! Even though I didn't have a lot of time for comps this year, I always love Fred's logic puzzles. ^ The Dreamweavers Magi's Puzzling Adventure - very cool! I loved how the further through you got, the more points you earned. You didn't have to complete the whole thing to get points. A very good level of difficulty for the points earned. ^ What The? - so much fun! ~ I wish I had earned points for Gooling all those damn town names to find out which ones were in Scotland! ~ I wish my life was more in order so that I had time to enter the comps this year, as there are so many that I really wanted to do. ~ I wish the Moonfair was slightly earlier in the year next year so that it wasn't so scarily close to exams (see Wish 2).

The Things I Liked* The extension was good. More Moonfair is always in everyone's best interests. * The way people volunteered and just got down and did what they had to do. It seemed to go very smoothly this year. * This will sound terrible, but I liked not having the stress of running competitions and madly rushing to get things done. It was a nice break from the stress (but a sad break from all the success and satisfaction). * Min's truly plendiferous design for the Moonfair pages. Favourite Activities^ Finding Norman, of course. It was great fun collaborating with Turks and Megana and putting the cards together. ^ Antelopated. I didn't have much time to look at many competitions, so I'm sure I missed out on dozens of plendiferous ones.Wishes for next year~ I'd like there to be a couple of messageboard-based games next year. Something like a "Best Moonfair Signature" competition or a week where everyone has to dress their profile up as an obscure character from the books and people have to guess who they are. The messageboards are such an intrinsic part of the site now and I think something like that would tie people even closer to the Moonfair and encourage even more people to enter competitions and get involved. ~ I hope I have a chance to be more involved in next year's Moonfair. I won't be studying next year, so the prospect is looking good. ~ I just spotted Avvy's wish about holding the Moonfair a little earlier in the year. Perhaps we could hold it during July/August, when it's cold outside, it gets dark early and there's not much else to do, really. ~ Perhaps we could run a comp in the first half of the year for people to design the webpage for the next Moonfair. I just can't believe the Moonfair has ended already. It seems like it only started some time last week. Everyone involved has done a most spectacular job and you all deserve a well-earned rest.

Ok, here be mine!
* I loved Min's templates for the site!! Really tied everything together this year, instead of each tekkie doing their own site. Kinda brought all of the guilds together. * The length was great too. Really gave me a chance to properly look at everything without running out of time to actually enter the comps.
^ I loved Kayt's farseeker expedition!! Really enjoyed doing that one, even though I still couldn't find all of the items. ^ The magi game and find the grave games were both fantastic!! The whole password set up was brilliant, and I loved the challange of solving all of those puzzles!! ^ Antelopated!! That game just gets better each year!!!
~ I wish we had a few less activities. I know a lot of work goes into them all, but sometimes its just too much, and I never get around to properly looking at let alone entering them all. If we had one main comp and maybe 3 smaller comps per guild, it might make it easier, and take care of the "Neglected Comps" issue. ~ I wish that next years Moonfair could go as well as this years did!!! ;D
Huzzuh to everyone involved for yet another wonderful Moonfair!!! ;D

*i really liked the fact i didnt have to do the web pages this year ^ i really loved all MY activties nah i'd choose ^logic puzzles even tho i spent many an hour whinging about them ^dreamweavers story board!! ^ magis puzzling adventure ^and i have to say as an extra thanks to the dreamies art comp for giving me a reason to dress up like a loon!!! ~i wish i'd have been able to enter everything - that my life wasnt so busy! i actually had a thought about next years theme. because we think (and hope) the sending will be launched just after moonfair each of the guilds could choose one of the four books already in the series and do activites based upon those - just a thought ~ i wish we had done a few activites that were guild specific - ahslings had anteloped but we mystics didnt do anything too mystical

* I'm not sure If I've ever had the pleasure of 'attending' a moonfair before this one and I really enjoyed it thorouly!! It really was a timeconsumer, but when it was extended I was very pleased! *I also liked that it was all packed on a really shmick site!!
^I liked the Ober quiz...it was a fun way to make you crack your skull with thought!!! ^I also liked the tongue twister thing....it was so fun!!
~Maybe we could have a fewer activities because my head nearly exploded with thought on what to enter. ~And maybe the theme for next year could me Physical no fat milk with vitamin d and Chese!!
I know, I know....I'm a nut!

i had another thought for next year. what about having delcared an actual individual winner of moonfair? that was if someone from a guild that doesnt have many active memebrs does real well, enters everything etc, they get soem recongition as well as the guild who wins overall?

I will, at some stage, get around to doing the whole thing but I had a thought that next year the theme should maybe be explained in advance. When we were told it was Iron and Candy this year no one had any idea what it was on about and it wasn't so much a theme as... um... not a lot since it didn't come up that often. If the theme was explained to the ML2s at least it could be incorporated into the guild comps and theme etc and then it'd be an actual theme rather than being the theme that isn't there. Does that make sense? I don't make sense a lot recently... Cat

Can I err suggest that next year we stay away from comps that require whole-guild entries...? Cause they always seem to end up being much more work for everyone involved that they need to be....

yeah remember how we were talking about a "moonfair queen" or "moonfair king"? hehe that would be cool! The person who perhaps got the most points for their guild (maybe we cud have one winner from each guild or just an overall winner) could have their name mentioned at the closing ceremony or watever its called If they had a south park avatar we could put it up on the moonfair site or something with a cute lil crown on them or something hehe just a suggestion

The theme was a sort of dual-thing this year though. The Iron & Candy was simply an aesthetics thing, since it was the 5th (6th?) anniversary of the site, and Iron/candy are traditional 5/6th anniversary gifts. The actual comp theme this year was the Guilds of Obernewtyn. So you mean an explanation like that? Sorry, I thought we'd already done that... If ever in doubt of something like this though guys, speak up and we'll be happy to explain it.

* I liked the continuity, even though it meant more work for me. It was nice to have colours/themes that matched one another. Continuity = good! * I loved the theme. It gave us so much fuel to build our competitions around.
Comps: ^ LOVED the Farseeker and Healer exams ^ What The...? was fun. ^ the Dreamies Art Comps were awesome too. ^ can I have one more? ANTELOPATED!
~ Entries go to ONE email address (perhaps moonfair@obernewtyn.net) for all 4 guilds, then get divvied out to judges. That way we have 1 place to record all the entries received, and an EASY way to create pages of received entries. ~ money for services. lol, no, I'm joking, we do it because we love it. ~ Perhaps a 2 month moonfair. We've extended it to 6 weeks, and it's going to continue to grow as we get more people with more ideas in on it. Maybe trial going from 1 Sept to 31st Oct, and see how that is.
Overall though this year was just so much fun. So many comps, so many things to do. Everyone was so excited. It really was a pleasure to work on, and participate in. Can't wait til next years!!
