I have a theory that Alexi might be to the destroyer what Maruman is to the Seeker. Most of it comes from this quote and a few other references from the books; "Awake. . . ' purred Alexi, his face close to mine, his dark yellow eyes curiously like Maruman's." page230 in Ob. I have missed any real references to his death. Also a few pages on (p.233) "i have dreamed of the power that will come to me,' he said.'I have dreamed of the great and beautiful darkness that will risse to my bidding." Maruman is also a dreamer and the seeker and destroyer are supposed to be a kind of mirror image.

Well, they think he's dead, but they've never actually found any proof, have they?

didn't Rushton kill Alexi at the end of Ober? there is something in farseekers when Elf is talking about her dark power *goes and gets book*
"during the terrible battle in which Rushton had slain his insane step-uncle, Alexi, ..." (page 3 -farseekers)
there has never been any real mention of him besides the fact that he is dead (after Ober of course)
i always knew that Ariel couldn't be dead tho. he was set up too nicely as a nemisis to someone

I think there are enough missing persons without us inventing more!

Yeah, he probably is dead, which could be a good thing for Elspeth's cause since now Maruman may not have his opposer and can continue to help her...
...Or not...

Oh yeah I have found that quote from page 3 although its page 8 in my book. Maybe there isn't much significance to the quotes I put up.

i think considering all the "fancy seing YOU here" meetings, the destroyer would at least be someone we've heard from in the last four years. like elii, who is mentioned in like the first line then JUST REAPPEARS MAGICALLY! or daffyd who JUST HAPPENED TO BE STROLLING AROUND A CLIFF IN A FIRE STORM AND SCULKING OVER A BADDIES SHOULDER!
not that i think it's elii. just saying.

Duria, I'm wasn't saying Alexi is the destroyer, I thought he might be the Maruman equivalent to the destroyer. But I don't think that now anyway.
