For something totally Ober-UNrelated... doj't you just love Spring???
It has sprung here and I am so blessed to be in such a beautiful place (come summer I will not be saying that). Spring on the north coast is soooooo lovely. The air is so warm, all the birds are coming back to my garden, my cats keep trying to get outside to run in the grass (i feel sorry for them sometimes - i keep them in so they don't kill wildlife) crows are nesting in my yard, my herb garden is looking great, i just planted my vegies...everything is so good!
Winter is cold and damp and miserable. Summer here is unbearable and you spend all day inside with the air con (if you are lucky enuf to have one ;D) it is too hot to swim, too hot to go out, too hot to breathe, everything wilts, it takes 5 min for cold water to come out of your taps, and you swim around in a pool of your own sweat (eeew i know thats gross).
Autumn is just not as lovely anywhere as where i grew up (New England region of NSW) so it pales.
But Spring has sprung!!!!!!!!! ;D
i just feel so good right now. maybe cause its my birthday soon and i am a spring baby...

Well, I appreciate the extra warmth. It has been a cold, cold Winter down here in Melbourne. In fact, I didn't realise it was almost Spring until I saw all the ornamental fruit trees in flower. Everywhere I look, there are lovely bare-branched trees drenched in pink and white blossom. But now I have to sit back and await the onslaught of hayfever.

Really? Our winter has been quite mild... ;D
I don't know though, I like being able to rug up in coats and blankets with a hot cup of tea in winter - there's something relaxing about it. Summertime up here is hell. I spent the entire two weeks of my last summer holidays on the couch in my loungeroom because it was too hot to DO anything, had to have a shower every hour and would drap towel's I'd put in the freezer over my head to try keep me a bit cooler. I'm not exaggerating, it really was murder. This Summer I'm going to spend a lot of time in the car with the airconditioning!
But it's just about warm enough in Brissy now to start getting a tan! Huzzuh!!

Fathers Day? Thats the 5th right? Squarmi, I'm on the 3rd!!! Woo Hoo!! I love birthdays!! Although no one has rung me to ask what i want so i am starting to get a bit worried ... a few years back when Dads day was on my b-day, my dad and i had abit of a standoff. I wouldn't ring him and he wouldn't ring me. In the end, my mum called and when we got on the phone all we said was 'yer, g'day'. i wanted a happy b-day and he wanted a happy dads day. I reasoned that it was my day cause it was my b-day but he reckoned it was his cause he was my dad and therefore superior. he got me there. cause he is so much more superior than me! Squarmi, have a great b-day and make sure you share it with your dad or, failing that, some other magnificant father figure in your life! on the weather ... it is meant to be 26 degree's here tomorrow. thats madness!! last week it was only 20. yah, can't wait for the 40+ and humid summer i am going to live through Min, where are you to be experiencing that weather? You in Brissie?

Yeap, I'm a Bris Vegas gal. I live and work slightly west of Brisbane (Sherwood / Rocklea) so it gets ridiculously hot and humid and desest-like in summer with absolutely no relief - most places in Bris at least have the river nearby - not Rocklea!
Hmm the whole dad & bday thing...my dad didn't even call me on my 21st, because there was some dispute he was having with my mum at the time and he reckon's he was 'teaching me a lesson' - HA! Bullocks to that, I haven't spoken to him since - and I'm 23 now. Sometimes father figures really aren't anything to take an example from, so father's day at this end will just be another normal day. ;D

I can easily sympathise with you Min. I am in Lismore and too make matters worse, living near the CBD in this disgusting basin that floods in the rainy season (not that there has been much of that - i live right near the river and when it was raining a while ago, i went everyday and checked how high it had risen - got a bit scary - i've been in bushfires before but never a flood) and traps heat like nothing else in summer. Its gross. I used to love summer back where i grew up - so dry and blissgully warm (nothing hotter than 35 and no humidity) but i HATE summer here. Nothing helps - if you go swimming the water is just as hot as the air temp. O well. Here's hoping we'll be let off a bit easier this summer

I've never wondered what temperature it was when I was born... hmm, interesting...
I think if I had to choose between dying of coldness, or dying of hotness (I don't think that's a word!) I'd choose hotness.

I also like summer... I HATE being cold... And thats probably because i was born on a 40degree day... I know exactly what you mean. I can't stand being cold. I'd much prefer to be too hot than too cold. Probably cause I was born in Darwin and lived in 30* heat til I was almost 5.Squarmi

I love the heat, too. Winter can never pass quickly enough for me. Oddly, though, I was born on one of the coldest days ever in Melbourne. Seriously. My dad had to chip ice off the windscreen to drive my mum to hospital - it was that cold. I've always thought that's the reason I like the warmth so much... because it was so dàmn cold when I arrived here!

I'm looking forward to wearing t-shirts again. And skirts. And shoes that don't require socks. Summer just can't come quickly enough, as far as I'm concerned.
