There are some really convincing arguments here and if people have such strong objections to colours, i really think they shouldnt have to compromise, it'll be better if everyone can stay happy.
Maybe not have guild colours/backgrounds but individual colours /backgrounds that a person can choose/design for themself.
For the guildyness have the guilds trademarks so we can recognise each other that way. i know this will be more difficult and time consuming but it will also make it more pesonal. again, i am willing to help you, i think it'll be lots of fun.

Siryn i commend you for your sense! i think that's the best option. Let those who wish to have badges design them for themselves and not restrict any of us to a particular colour. Best thing for interguild relations! thank you!

I still think the colours are a good idea. The Wandies could be representedby a total lack of colour?
Yellow is just right for Ashlings. Tis a nice summery colour

=S i always thought bright red suits Ashlings *imagines Ashling badge with Norman's head and bright red background* iono..looks more...alive
Dreamies and Mystics r good with the pale, cool colours (dont their names represent daydreamingness?)
and wandies *thinks tim tams and dual flush toilets* eh...rainbow?
EDIT: *sees 'Pointage' section of forum* so its already been decided...?

Yeah, I was thinking all colours, (kind of like when you press down on the screen of a calculator) for wandies. All colourful and kinda funky!
Does that calculator bit make any sense at all?

EDIT: *sees 'Pointage' section of forum* so its already been decided...? No, those colours were based on the Moonfair colours. There's no significance to them.

EDIT: *sees 'Pointage' section of forum* so its already been decided...? No, they were just general colours I picked because I used them in the moonfair. Lauren, Em and I talked about design, but we didn't talk about colour at the time of the moonfair plans. I didn't talk to anyone about colours, I just went with it as per my memories of the old guild web sites, it wasn't anything to be set in stone. Just a personal opinion and it happened to work for this year's moonfair. In past year's we've just gone with the wood/silver generally for all guild sites, but this year with the candy and iron theme it seemed to fit to have each guild a different colour like candied hearts or something. That's how the Wandies ended up Pink from what I remember when I was laying out the sites. (btw, I'm still sorry about that pinkness...) I think it's a very good idea to just pick whatever colour you want on a personal level. The answer to the question "what is your guild colour" is probably going to be unresolved for a VERY long time...because everyone has different ideas. now please stop arguing. Now, if you want just general Obernet colours? That'd be far easier to answer. If you want Obernet badges, why not make them the obernet colours, and put a guild mascot on them, since everyone attributes the mascots to their guilds more than any colour?

So are the official Obernet colours the ones that we see on the forum (sorry if this is a stupid question)

Hmmm guild badges... that sounds cool. Hey, how about we vote on colours? Like a guild election except for a guild colour instead?

or maybe we could invent a new colour.

DO, the Obernet colours are as follows: Now, for guild colours. We're never going to agree on them, and many people are taking it all personally, so we need to just agree to disagree and move on. There are too many people here who think too many different colours suit the guilds. I think we should let the idea of guild colours drop. However if you want to make badges colour-coded, you might like to use the obernet colours and our mascots. It'd be a lot more recognisable seeing a lavender badge with an antelope on it, than a specifically colour coded one.

Yeah, have say Lavender badges with an antelope on them, or a squirrel on them, or a dual-flush toilet or a glowworm. Then we've got guild distinction but also Obernet together-ness.

Cat that is a beautiful idea. And i think spot on. The last thing we want to do is cause more seperation between guilds, or guild rivalry. Let's not have colours as another point of contention. You'll make me even more confused. :S

Woo, go Cat! I'm liking that suggestion too! Ober.net colours are great as block/background colours so I think that's look really effective!

Great idea also we'll be easier to find as we are more alike, not to mention the fact that others will know straight away that we're all from the same 'family'

Mmmm, anyone who sees the badges will be able to tell that you are part of the same "organisation", but divided into different groups... Much more recognisable than lots of different colours.
