Not sure whether there's a thread for this or not, but today is Live 8 in London, Paris, Berlin, Tokyo and Philidelphia amogn others, promoting awareness of povery, and striving to Make Poverty History in 2005. If you haven't alread please go to www.live8live.com and familiarise yourself with the issues and, if you agree with what Live 8 stands for, sign the petition to be presented to G8 in Edinburgh.
Please at least have a look - together we can make a difference.

It's being shown here twice though. When it was actually Live it was the middle of the night, so it's also being shown tonight at 8:30.

Having an interesting discussion about this with someone. Apparently the performers are getting thousands of dollars of gifts for going on stage.... or recieved, i should say...
does anyone else find this ethically suss?

Huh. I thought they were playing for free, too. But hopefully a point has at least been made to the G8-ers... And methinks Australia didn't have a concert coz we're on the other side of the world, and it's winter, so the time and conditions wouldn't have been as wonderful for the 'live' part Either that, or Johnny was trying to keep things hush-hush about his involvement...speaking fo which, IS he involved...? I didn't watch it. But the reason we didn't have one in Australia is because Australia is neither poverty stricken nor a member of G8. It's called Live 8 because they held one in each of the countries in G8. We be not G8 so no concert.

I was quite impressed with myself as I watched it right through to the end (nah nah nah naaaaaah - Hey Jude!) but admit to running out to enjoy the sunnyshine if there was an artist on that I didn't like *cough*MariahCarey*cough*
