I like to read about philosophy and watch stuff on the history channel on FOXTEL and I think philosophy is cool, but none of my frinds do. They're into cd's lip gloss and nothing important that actually matters. Does anyone feel the same way as me and admires philosophers and wants to create a theory one day? Or am I just Insane?

I recon that it would be awesome for me to create my own theory, but I don't recon I have the brain power for it.

I like philosophy and everything, but I don't think I could create a theory. What if it was wrong or something!! But that's the beauty of it - if you say it's so, then people must believe you. They might end up thinking you're wrong, but you know you're not, so you aren't. If you're lucky, it'll all get caught up in a circle that makes people's brains hurt, so in the end, they'll just give in and accept your theory.

The Latin phrase cogito, ergo sum ("I think, therefore I am") is possibly the single best-known philosophical statement and is attributed to René Descartes. Cogito ergo sum is a translation of Descartes' original French statement, Je pense, donc, je suis. well there u go. he wasnt greek must have thoigh of sophicles coz i was looking at the cat (she's called ismene)

i love philosophy, that's y i took it as a subject. i think i'm well up to criticising thoeries, if only to find logical faults, but not up to creating something entirely new. Kaylan i think it would be brilliant if you tried tho! i mean the fact that you seem to want to find a sort of scientific/philosophic theory like Newton is cool! i have no grounding in science whatsoever so the theories i love are more to do with the abstract (tho i do like ethics and philosophy of language as well). i would recommend Plato's republic to anyone interested in philosophy, alot of it is the groundwork for democracy, as it deals with social issues but the last few chapters on the nature of the good is great, as is Decartes Meditations coz he has a really abstract take on the soul/mind and God- i love it!

If you want relativity - get into physics! Philosophy is one thing - the physics will get down to why scientists have deduced what they think is the history of everything.
Of course there's always string theory, which is still under great debate. You could be the first person to come to a conclusion about it ;D

I can't remember anything I learned about string theory, bar that it exists in something like 21 dimensions, and every time they can't prove something if they add an extra dimension it works *sigh* that's science though...

From what i remember, it was 11 dimensions. Hmm.. I've just done a web search and found this: Read more about it here: String Theory
