A new survey suggests people are becoming less superstitious about 'unlucky' Friday the 13th.
The poll of 1,000 adults shows other superstitons are also less of a concern nowadays.
Fewer people now freak out when they break a mirror, walk under a ladder or a black cat walks across their path.
Three out of four questioned for a Surrey theme park said they had no intention of staying off work just because of the date.
Peter Ronchetti, Thorpe Park's general manager, said people were not as easily scared as they used to be.
He added: "October this year happens to be one of the freakiest months. Friday the 13th and Halloween fall within two weeks of each other."
But, for people who are nervous about Friday 13th, today is doubly alarming, according to a German professor.
Heinrich Hemme, of the University of Aachen, points out that the digits in the date - 13/10/2006 - also add up to 13.
He says the last time this numerical coincidence happened was Friday, January 13, 1520.
Hemme also established that 2006 is the first year since 1411 where Friday the 13th occurs twice. January 13, was also a Friday.

HAHA well isn't that a nice sentiment My friday wasn't that spectacular I admit, but I don't attribute it to the 13th. That's really interesting. It think people are becoming less and less supersitious because more and more things can be explained in a logical and rational matter. Back in the day people would have just thought of the freaky and some act of evil etc.

I think its not that supistitious because we dont burn " witches" and so all that silly stuff anymore. We've just grown out of it.

My Friday was uneventful. I'm not superstitious about Friday the 13th anymore. Last year I actualy had a run of good luck which resulted in me getting my Lerners Permit. Good luck for me, perhaps bad luck for other road users =P

i love Friday the 13th! the number 13 is one of my lucky numbers - i think it also used to be a very important number. there were usually 13 witches in a coven, among other things. from what i have heard, the number became thought of as 'unlucky' after the whole Last Supper thing...13 at the table, something like that...
my dad is really superstitious, but about stuff other than the usual. he doesn't like peac0ck feathers, bones pointed at the sky, can't remember what else.

I think more people have 13 as their lucky number then any other number. Perhaps this has out-lucked the bad luck of it?!

Could be. Everything went exceptionaly well for me on Friday.
Though it could all be a psychological thing as well. If you expect bad things to happen to you they will and vice versa
