AFL's WAY more pointless. You get points for MISSING. They call it football when you get special treatment for catching it! But yes, Rugby's pretty pointless too. Definately seems to be like a giant game of STACKS ON!!

Aw, poor Squirt ... You may rant about our football-abuse if you like That said, you get points for missing? See, I've never actually watched it for long enough to know how it works, really. Oh yes, that reminds me, something else to rant about: I hate it when people make you feel bad for not going for a footy team. Like as if it's uncool not to like footy just coz everyone else likes it.

there's an irish sport called hurling. it involves two teams on a pitch/field with a goals on either side and each player holds something called a hurley in his hand(s). it's a piece of wood (ash) shaped in a very particular way with a bit of metal in attached to the end. players run around the field trying to hit a ball, called a sliotar, with their hurleys to other players to pass the sliotar to other team members and to score in the other teams goals. a sliotar is about the size of my clenched fist. they tackle each other with hurleys. it's mostly a non contact sport; they shove each other shoulder-to-shoulder sometimes if they are both trying for the ball when its travelling through the air. hurleys clash sometimes and ppl call this "the clash of the ash". players wear protective gear but sometimes get injured and occassionally, some are badly injured. this is very much based on non-contact, except to a very mild extent. players are very skilled. if u want to watch some hurley then u can go see 'the wind that shakes the barley' in september. the start of it shows ppl playing hurling in a field. im not reccomending u watch it just to see hurling but it is a very good film.

It annoys me no end.

I really, really hate people who take a trolley of groceries thorugh the eight-items-or-less lane. They receive my glare of death and pointed looks towards the sign. Selfishness like that drives me INSANE. Bring me the spoons!

Grrr to you too. AFL was THE most legit bit!!! Show me a more brutal sport (apart from rugby). I dare you. Okay, I cannot let this remark go unaddressed. Here are a just few sports more brutal, dangerous or reckless than AFL: BOXING KICKBOXING FREE FIGHTING FORMULA ONE RACING MOTORBIKE RACING MOUNTAIN CLIMBING EXTREME SPORTSHow many people have died playing AFL? Hmm? Compare that number (which I believe is 0) to the number of dead mountain climbers. The object of AFL, unlike boxing and its variants, is not to beat the crap out of your opponent. Car and motorbicycle racing is reckless; these people are driving at speeds way above the safety limit! And the people who do extreme sports, well ... there are always lunatics. Yes, AFL can be pretty full-on at times. Fortunately, efforts are continuously being made to lessen injury risk while still retaining the spirit of the game. For example, the AFL hires people to do research on injury treatment and prevention.

I'm not saying there isn't some truth to the "brutal" claim; AFL seems to be causing a lot more injuries these days and this needs to be addressed, with a few rule changes if necessary. But to say it's the most brutal sport in the world is just silly.

I hate the HSC and the resulting lack of life that results for me from this- it's the holidays, when your meant to have a break from school, and it seems that basically all I've been doing is school work....ARRRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! I have three assignments, several maths past exams to do, general revision and I'm supposed to get up a "required" amount of sporting hours....when am i meant to have time to do any of this..... And then there's my procrastination that keeps leading me back here to check if there have been any important new posts that I have to be privvy to..... And something else, slightly off the point, but sort of relevant, what is with the crappy television on Saturday nights? ? There is seriously nothing on. I was so bored I watched the Brady Bunch movie even though I've seen it and it's not exactly one of those movies you go, "Yeah, I really wanna see that again" I mean... i watch some pretty crappy stuff on TV, but still tehre was nothing on to aid me in my procrastination, so I ended up going bed at 8:30 (I wasn't going to resort to watching Charlie's Angels...*shudders*) I think I'll stop ranting now.....but a good rant.... Moonfair draws closer.....(although my HSC had to screw with that as well)

I wouldn't call F1 racing, motorbike racing, moutain climbing "brutal". They're non-contact sports... Dangerous, yes, but not brutal. They're really perfectly harmless until something goes wrong. And boxing - well, that's not a sport. It's just stupid. But, back to the ranting!

Boxing's *supposedly* more of a sport than AFL considering that it's an olympic sport!

Yes, there's a difference between dangerous and brutal. AFL and Thugby are brutal, boxing is for people with serious anger management problem and bullies. All three are stupid.

Still, we AFL fans managed to find sports more brutal than AFL, so I guess we win!

You do not WIN. Does anyone actually know or care about the environmental impact of Lantana in Australia? Or Serrated Tussock? Or willows? I don't. You know probably more people would DO homework if it was remotely interesting. 'Cos I really couldn't care less.
