If you're awake at 1.02am and three seconds tomorrow morning, the date/time reads as:
01, 02, 03, 04, 05, 06
eg Time: 01.02:03 Date: 04/05/06

Aus reads it the dd/mm/yy way, so we'll be getting it ;D how awesome!!! *sets alarm*
I'll probably be quite cheesed off at that alarm when it goes off actually...

hehe, but in fifty years you'll be able to tell your grandchildren that you were awake at 1:23 4/5/06, I'm sure they'll be heaps impressed, lol ;D It is pretty cool though

I may still be awake by that time, but i suspect i shan't be able to stay awake.
I've never understood why the Americans have to reverse the day/month..

Prob for the same reason they replace some s's with z's in some words, took the u out of others, and drive on the wrong side of the road. Lovely people (most of them ), but they just have to be different.

I still can't figure out why countries drive on the right. Driving on the left is left over from ancient times, when (as most people were right handed) your sword arm was closest to your opponent.
Driving on the left is mostly in Commonwealth countries, though some of those drive on the right. Japan is the only non-Commonwealth country that drives on the left. Aparently Sweden (i think) changed from driving on the left to driving on the right overnight

Well, I'm guessing the overnight thing would work better than a gradual change...
I guess, like the no smoking in pubs thing in Scotland, it would have been well debated and well advertised beforehand, so nobody could not know, unless they'd been living in a cave for several months - in which case, bad timing for getting out of your cave!

hehe, I'm just imagining the 'gradual change' of driving on the left to driving on the right. Can you imagine?! For the next week everyone can choose which side of the road you all drive on, but after that stick to the right dammit, lol.

Aus drives on the right, too, bonus being that we could drive anywhere we wanted in Brit since they do too. I remember when Hallie got her Astra we wondered why the controls were on the opposide side of the steering wheel (she was always putting on the wipers instead of the blinkers til she got used to it) - it turned out the Astras were made in Belgium or somewhere where they drive on the left, and when they converted them for Australia, they couldn't be bothered changing the controls around! THAT took some getting used to...I wonder what driving on the left would be like?

But, don't we drive on the left? Or do you mean sitting in the right hand side of the car? I only just woke up (Yes, I know it's 2pm) so I may be confused, but I drive on the left hand side of the road.

God, I have confused that post, haven't I? I meant we drive on the right side of the car...but the cars drive on the left side of the road. Gah!
What were we talking about? *blinks* I'm confused now too...

Some would argue that Bush wasn't really re-elected.

I still don't understand why other countries have the choice whether to vote or not... But that's an entirely different issue. It was realy weird when I was in China, because they drive on the right and in Aus we drive on the left. We kept looking the wrong way before crossing roads and the first time I was in the car with my host family I was getting freaked out cause the Dad kept turning around to talk to us in the back seat, and then i realised the Mum was driving... I was really tired, ok! I also went to put on a seatbelt everytime I went into the car, but they only have them in the front seats of their cars... Cat

Some would argue that Bush wasn't really re-elected. I would argue that he wasn't elected in the first place! Believe me, Cat-Eyes, voluntary voting is better than compulsory. That way, people who vote do so for a reason. In countries with compulsory voting, you'll find many people vote with their wallet, supporting the party who they think will do the most for them financially, without taking anything else into consideration. It is one reason why Howard is still our PM. But you're right, it is another topic altogether. I shall start a thread in the Members Message Board about it!

I say that if there's compulsary voting, then people who don't want to just do a donkey vote.

Or just don't write on it, write number 1 next to them all and get it chucked out. No one's going to know it was you, and you've voted.
Anyway, back to America's weird way of writing the dates. It's strange! Our way it gets bigger. Days are a part of months which are a part of years. Months are not a part of days of years!

Min: I found a left-hand drive car quite easy to use. It seems more natural to control the gearstick with your right hand.
In the uk (for the majorityof cars) the wiper controls are on the right and indicators on the left. However, most Japanese manufacturers tend to swap them round, so if i borrow my mates car i endup wiping the windscreen when i should be indicating

Yeah, our family friends have two cars and their on opposite sides in each, so when they get used to driving whichever one they've been driving and they do to drive the other one they turn on the windscreen wipers a hell of a lot.
