Is your dog crazy??? I think we have established that a large chunk of obernet are dog owners, and so i ask, how crazy is your dog??? What do they do that qualifies them being completly cuckoo??
My dog, Micky, qualifies as crazy. she is 9 yrs old, and that would warrant some slowing down, as she is a dalmatian and a larger breed, and ages quicker. but no. People are amazed that she is 10 this year, they say she has the energy of a dog half her age. She still insits on playing with a torn mat she has had for 5 years, flicking it around as tho she is some bored pup. She has run into the clothes line upteen times, the bamboo chairs out the back cos she didnt think that putting her head under and lifting it up would actually mean she would hit her head. She has run into our backdoor - its glass.
She jumps up on the bbq and burns her paws trying to lick the flavour off it. She licks the empty tins of dog food and whinges when it hurts her. She scratches herself and falls over. She sits outside in the cold when she has a kennel that has a square of carpet in it, freezing herself and crying at me when she could be warm in the kennel, but no. She pulls on the leash, seeming to think maybe this time i wont be holding it, but no, she gets choked again by it cos she is impatient. She forgets she on a leash and goes around a pole and wonders what is stopping her, looks back at me, and im trying to get her to go the complete other way lol!
She insists on eating food before i have put in her bowl, and wonders why she gets it on her head. She spends hours trying to pull her cone shaped collar protecting her ears off, even tho when it is off she cries because her ears are being attacked by biting flies.....
The most wacky thing my dog has ever done, however, was on a trip to the south coast to a friends place. she was only a yr or 2 old, and she was playing with their two labradors. Mum me and my brother, and our friends, were walking along the beach with the 3 dogs. After a while the dogs climbed up this small sandy rocky outcrp, that slowly went up. The two labbys jumped off before it got too high, but Micky didnt. she kept going. And ended up about 2 metres or so up where it finish. She couldnt back up, she was scared, and she just stood there. I wanted to go up and get her, and i was yelling at her to stay there, and Mum was about to go up there and get her, when she jumped off.... and misjudged her landing.... paws flew out... but the ground was further than she had realised, and she nose planted it into the sand, her front paws underneath her. Suprisingly she wasnt hurt. she didnt break anything. I think my dog has 9 lives. shes been hit by a car as well but all it did was take a smidge of skin off her back leg, cos she was speeding accross the road, and the car was going very slow.
But anywho. I want your wacky silly dog stories..... so spill!!!!

I have two lab's, Molly and Tessa. Tessa is about 8 years old and is bvery similar to your Dalmation, however she has this wierd obsession with certain objects. She'll be lying down, prettending to snooze when suddenly she notices a loaf of bread sitting on the kitchen counter. Loaves of bread are always placed there, there have probably been thousands of loaves, same brand, same place. But this loaf is different. This loaf deserves special attention. She'll wait until no one is looking and she'll take the loaf of bread, place it carefully on the floor, lie stretched out on the ground and stare at it for hours and hours. I could wave juicy steaks under her nose and she won't even twitch. She MUST guard the loaf. It isn't always a loaf of bread mind you, sometimes it might be a roll of toilet paper or barbie doll, but it can last for days. Our other dog is a complete nutter. She NEEDS to be physically touching someone, normally with her tongue. She'll stick it (the tongue ) in between your toes, into your mouth, all over your face. She doesn't care where she has it, as long as it's touching someone. It's disgusting!

*sighs* Oh, how I want a dog...*sobs*
When I was younger we had three huge German Shepherds x Great Danes. They were awesome. Jet was my baby, he was so funny. He used to drink like a jellyfish...instead of licking the water, he'd stick his entire snout into the bucket so his chops would flop around in the bucket like a jellyfish. Jet was a little insane! He used to also go totally APE if anyone mentioned the word swim. We started having to spell the word out around him, but he got used to that as well.
Lilah used to LOVE swimming, too. She'd go around like a crocodile, just her nose and eyes out of the water. She also used to catch lots of things in her mouth. She was an expert catcher. I remember one day, dad was outside having a coffee and he threw the dregs from his coffee cup outside. Lilah came wandering in, covered in coffee, licking her nose and looking woeful, eg "can you throw it a little slower next time please?"
Sammy didn't like swimming that much - but he loved fish. We used to take them to the creek at Jimboomba, and Sam would stick his snout under the water and bark at the fish. He was so funny!! I had the joy of training him - imagine a short 12-13 year old girl getting dragged across the grass by a big golden dog. Sammy's favourite game was fetch, only with a twist - we used to throw a rather large motor cross tyre for him to chase - and then had to try get it off him again! He used to trot around with this massive tyre in his mouth whenever he was happy.
They were all such a delight to watch, always so loving and happy and cuddly. Jet died when I was 16; Lilah passed away about 2 years ago, and Sammy died not long after her. I miss having dogs so much. My one vivid goal at the moment is to get a house, so I can get a dog.

german shepards are great. we used to have three german shepherds. 2 of them are dead now. Ritz and Riff were dogs, and Ciara is a b!tch. we had ciara since she was a pup. i used to play with her. i'd move my hand in front of her like it was some kind of prey, a mouse or something. and she'd bite it. she's getting a little old now. Ritz and Riff both died of old age. Ritz was the biggest of them and he looked a lot like a wolf. He was very playful and even when he was very old he seemed young at heart, playing like a pup would. he didnt seem like some animals do after changing from hardships of life. He used to jump up on me and bite me playing. He was very rough but it was never meant to harm. Riff had had a hard life. He was living on a farm with other dogs and they used to take his food, so he was very scrawny. My mother was looking for a dog and she picked him to rescue him. For a long time he was ill-tempered and used to bully Ciara. It shows who humans can badly influence each other and other animals so much and so strongly. Over time he stopped being so much like that. We kept all three of them in the house. Ritz and Riff had to be kept apart cos they would fight and try to kill each other otherwise. Ritz stayed in my parents bedroom and Riff stayed in the rest of the house. Ciara stayed in both. My sister used to have a Cairn terrier before that. We had her since she was a pup. I loved her a lot. She was a b!tch. She never used to bite people then one day she got very territorial and went under the table with a bone. if anyone came close she's start growling a lot and then bite them if they came closer. She used to sleep at the bottom of my bed by my feet and sometimes if i moved my feet in the morning she'd bite me. she had this way of biting that's she'd bite my hand, release a little but not enough to get my hand free and then bite again. she was very clever. if she ever got out at night she'd go up the road and pretend she couldn't hear us calling. she only came down if we gave her fish. Her name was Tasha. She died at the age of five. Ciarn terriers usually live to about 10. The stupid vet misdiagnosed her. He was mostly a cattle vet. She had calcium comound deposits in her bladder. She was after one operation. She was killed cos she was after becoming weak and my mother thought that it would have been cruel to put her through another operation when she might die anyway. i think they should have done it anyway. i think my mother was mostly motivated but her own sadness and trying to protect her own feeling when she decided to 'put her down'. some ppl give up on life so easily. She was still young and very much alive. The night she went for her operation she was in the vet's room and she was going to stay there over night. she looked at me. she was very worried/concerned/frightened/distressed. she looked at me like she was asking for my help, to keep her safe, to look after her/protect her. she was very worried like the way some ppl would be before a big operation or if they felt like something was seriously wrong with their body. I cried a lot after she died. and was sad for a long time. I lived with dogs my whole life.

Our family has two dogs, Socks, a Shih-Tzu x Poodle x Maltese and Tilly, a hyperactive border collie. Socks is 7 and has her little quirks. She follows Mum around constantly, and has a specific spot ont the couch where she MUST lie. If someone else is lying on the couch she'll sit on them. Mum was lying with her head is Socks' spot. Socks lay down on her head. She also has a blanket which she adores. It was once a large piece of green polar fleece, but has been reduced to a much smaller piece of polar fleece with many, many holes. She like to chew this while lying in the doorway of my room for me to trip over. She sleeps in the laundry just down from my room and if there's a thunderstorm she scratches at the door. Cute, huh? Well I tell you what, it's not cute at 3am when you have school the next day and had a late night anyway! (I need my beauty sleep) Tilly is a gorgeous border collie with loads of energy and a slight insecurity problem. She craves affection, and you cannot get past her without patting/cuddlying/talking to her. She has a very cute way of patting your knee with one paw when she wants a hug and she sits on the window ledge of our kitchen window if we're not outside, staring in at us until someone goes out and gives her a cuddle. Despite their quirks, I love my dogs, and I have to say they are certainly not as quirky as my horses. Don't even get me started on the horses...

aww you guys have such cool dog stories!!!!!
My dog before Micky, was a Airedale Terrier called Sam. As far as terriers go, Airedales are huge!!! And so Sam was washed in a wheel barrow. He wasnt keen, but he dealt. what he really loved, was standing on a table and dad clipping him for 2 hours... he stood perfectly still and loved it! He was so strong, he could make my father fall over cos he ran when you tried to walk him lol! he was fluffy and cool, and funny and silly!
He also ate strange things.... the two strangest things he ever ate was 3 plastic bags filled with waterbombs that were full... my brother and i turned out backs for a few seconds... and they dissappeared, and Sam was wagging his tail!
The other strange thing, was snail bait. it did nothing to him. And he ate it, not cos he was hungry, cos he always had plenty of food. he just did......
Yeah i agree about doggies and scratching at stupid hours... and crying at stupid hours.... *shakes head* my dog is so petrified of thunderstorms that she bent the metal grate we put infront of the entrance to under the house, shes destroyed bricks, bent plastic buckets etc etc... hopefully she wont be able to make what mum and i have constructed infront it, fall to pieces.

Hehe, my dog Tess would never scratch at a door in the middle of the night, she loves her sleep too much. When I lived at home she slept at the end of my bed or on the floor next to it and when mum would start yelling for her to go out to the toilet she'd scramble onto the bed and under my quilt where she'd hide until mum forgot she was looking for her. We spent many lazy afternoons hiding from mum together ;D
