How much time do I have before the writing competition closes, 'cause I wanted to enter a Ober.-related poem... possibly regular poems that Ihave filed away, and if theres time I'll write a story or something... I'm in a big writing mood at the moment ^-^ I'm a hige anime fan ^_^ I've gone to Anime North every year since grade 8 and CN once.... For anime North next year we're cosplaying as the angels from Angelic layer and having sock plushies of our corosponding dues's on our shoulder... ^_^ The character for my avatar is fanart of Hermione Granger by Moonless Night. *looks for the link* Aha! www5e.biglobe.ne.jp/~haripota/

I think it closes on the 25th of July, so you have about a week to get stuff in. For more details, check out the thread towards the top of the Members Message Board, or go to www.obernewtyn.net/frame2.html and follow the links for the Writing Competition. Good luck if you enter!

Welcome back Ashta! And welcome Yelloweyes! We hope you like Obernewtyn.net and are just as inspired by the Obernewtyn Chronicles as the rest of us!
And Ashta, I'm pretty sure there are a few other people from Tassie as well. The Melbourne/Brisbane/Sydney people are all arranging meets so you might just find you could have a Tassie one as well. Maybe.

Well, I was going to create a new thread and then I went "Meh" and decided to put it in here.
I'm Cat-Eyes. This is kinda weirs since the other person who used Ashta's thread to introduce themselves was Yelloweyes, which was one of my reasons, as well as me being lazy since it's a Saturday morning.
Anyway, I'm 14, I live in Melbourne, my friend got me onto the Obernewtyn books earlier this year. (Actually, we have another friend who asked her Mum to find her something interesting when she went to the library and now has the third Ober book and keeps trying to get me to explain everything cause none of it makes sense, and I'm trying to tell her it'd make a lot more sense if she read the first 2, like a normal person).
Anyway, Lara (original friend who got me to read them) has since got me to read the Legendsong series and is now getting me to read the Farseer series by Robin Hobb.
So, yeah... My name's Cay-Eyes because around my pupils are these yellow bits that make my eyes look like a sunflower surrounded by whatever the rest of my has chosen to be that day, or like my pupil is on fire... So that's how I got the name and since I use it now for things like h2g2.com and all those sort of things, it's now my official nickname.
Oh, I should probably mention that the reason I had never read Obernewtyn before was I read Billy Thunder and the Night Gate and didn't like it so I didn't want to read Obernwtyn, but it turned out to be so amazingly better than BT that now BT just stands out as the bad egg for me and all her other books are great.
Hmmm, I seem to be ranting a lot and not actually making much sense...
Oh, apparently I'm the hundreth person to join ;D ;D ;D Special!!
Yeah, that's about it...

Hi Cat-Eyes! It's great to have so many new people joining up. Have you read all four of the Obernewtyn Chronicles? Well, we all love them heaps so you've come to the right place if you're into them as well. Many of us on the site are also obsessed with the Legendsong series although I'm yet to read them. And I've only read the first in the Farseer trilogy... plan to finish the others soon. (check out the Library message boards... heaps of people post about their favourite books there) If you've read all four OC books, then check out the theories board where we discuss what we think is likely to happen in the fifth book, The Sending, which we expect to be published towards the end of next year. Also check out Min's theories site: www.obernewtyn-theories.com which is just fantastic! Anyway, enjoy Obernewtyn.net! Most of us on this site are between the ages of 13 and 23 and most of us first read the books at about age 14 so you'll fit right in!
