And I shall be thinking of you, dear Squirt, as you shiver your way through the match tomorrow night. I hope the weather holds out! I shall be in the supermarket then, mindlessly filling the chips and coke and telling customers that soup is in aisle 6. P.S. Thank you for winning, Melbourne. I wasn't feeling confident about that tip.

Yes, well done Adelaide! And well done to Richmond, St Kilda ... and Fremantle. When I first saw this weekend's fixture, my first instinct was "if any team can beat the Eagles at Subi, it's Fremantle". If only I'd listened to my instincts! No one tipped Fremantle, so it follows that no one should get the two bonus points, or are the two separate?

Not seperate, if everyone tipped the other side then the person with the smallest margin wins.

I would never make the rules to give me an advantage I'm shocked you would even suggest such a thing AF! I hope Hawthorn lose and that Telstra Dome's roof gets stuck open and you're forced to watch a crap game of football in the rain hehe, nah, when I posted that I didnt realise I had won the bonus points Although, seriously, Adelaide are on the top of the ladder at the moment, I need Collingwood and the Hawks to lose to keep us there. Go you Roos! Go you Blues!

LOL, but then you'll lose your tips! It's an amazing thought though ... if Collingwood won by a small margin, and the Hawks belted the Roos, we could technically be at the top of the ladder tomorrow evening! Who would have thought? ;D EDIT (the next day): Well, I'm about to go. Weather looks windy but the rain may hold out for a few hours yet. By the way Squirt, I don't think you need to worry about the Hawks bumping Adelaide off the top spot; we'd need to beat the Roos by a LOT ... it's more likely Collingwood will hand out a thrashing today!

You jinxed me Squirt. Although the Telstra Dome roof was closed when I arrived (the game was played as though it was night), Hawthorn lost. (It's okay, I forgive thee ) However, these things always have a flip side, and I suppose it backfired because Collingwood are now on top of the ladder, much as I don't like that!

I just realised, I have never been to a Hawthorn match where they actually won. Okay, so I've only been to a few, but that's still NOT FAIR! Anyway, is it just me or does the Telstra Dome seem incredibly small when the roof is closed? I felt like they were playing on a mini-field, though I know it had to be at least 150 metres long. EDIT: just read AFl.com.au. Croad is out for a month, and Crawford for a fortnight! We'll still win, though! And OMG, I am 834th out of over 100,000 in the AFL Tipping Competition!

Who does everyone reckon is gonna take out this year's premiership? (team pride bias aside) I reckon it'll be an Adelaide-West Coast grand final, don't you guys? Maybe West Coast'll win this year. although that was a shock last week. And how close was the Essendon game, eh??? 2 ponts! I was on the edge of my seat. Well, actually, i was exercising, but never mind.

Hmmm. Akermanis dropped from Brisbane. Several premiership players injured. I thought Lance Franklin was ready to return for the Hawks?
I had a semi-nightmare last night that Hawthorn lost by over 50 points. Fortunately, these things never *touch wood* come true with me.

Australian Football League, only the best version of football in the whole world

Australian Football League. We play our own brand of football which is quite different to what the Americans and Europeans call football. It's slightly similar to Gaelic Football, which originated in Ireland.
A brief history from AFL.com.au:
"In 1857, Tom Wills, one of the founders of Australian Football, returned to Australia after schooling in England where he was football captain of Rugby School and a brilliant cricketer. Initially, he advocated the winter game of football as a way of keeping cricketers fit during off-season.
The new game was devised by Wills, his cousin H.C.A. Harrison, W.J. Hammersley and J.B. Thompson. The Melbourne Football Club was formed on August 7, 1858 – the year of the code’s first recorded match between Scotch College and Melbourne Grammar School.
The game quickly blossomed. The Geelong Football Club was formed in 1859 and in 1866 an updated set of rules was put in place and competition started.
The Victorian Football League was established in 1896 and the following year the League’s first games were played among the foundation clubs – Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon, Fitzroy, Geelong, Melbourne, St Kilda and South Melbourne.
In 1908, Richmond and University joined the competition. But after the 1914 season, University left the League. In 1925, Footscray (now the Western Bulldogs), Hawthorn and North Melbourne (now the Kangaroos) joined the VFL.
This line-up of 12 clubs would remain unchanged until 1987 when the competition expanded to include the West Coast Eagles and the Brisbane Bears. BY 1997, the competition comprised 16 clubs after Adelaide (in 1991), Fremantle (in 1995), and Port Adelaide (in 1997) joined the now Australian Football League and foundation club Fitzroy merged with the Brisbane Bears to form the Brisbane Lions (after the 1996 season)."
The rules of the game should be somewhere on the AFL site, but I can't seem to find them. Can anyone help out here?
