Is anyone else loving them? Anyone else got any great moments? Anyone going? I'm going on Thursday 23rd which, among other things, will feature the Women's 400m Hurdle final AND, that which I think I'm most excited about, Men's 200m EAD final! I'm really really excited about the fact EAD (can't remember what it stands for! But it's like the paralympics for the Comm Games) is run at the same time in the Comm Games! AND even better for the second time at a Comm Games their medals go towards the overall medal tally!! It's a bit more difficult to watch and know who won though because they all compete in their individual class (say, vision impaired or amputee) and multiple classes will race in the same race. You don't so much race against each other you race against the World Record in your class, so someone who comes last in the actual race may be closer to their class's world record and actually come first. But anyway, i'm so excited!! Cat

i haven't got roud to watching any of it yet. I went to the commonwealt games in Manchester 4 years ago. It was great. We got a mexican wave going and ended up appearing on the giant TV screen.
If you get a chance to go along, do so. Its very good!

I like the swimming. Maybe it's the splashing and not quite knowing who's in the lead because of the splashing, but I like it. Otherwise, I'm not really paying too much attention. I'll start saying cynical things like: "think of how far all this money could have gone to alleviating poverty" or something like that, and that doesn't make anyone happy.

I seriously love it. I love watching it! The only sport I haven't found interesting yet is the Boxing. I mean, I found Rugby 7s interesting! You don't know how amazing that is for me. It also helped Dad knew some rules for when he went to boarding school and could explain some stuff. Lawn bowles was really good yesterday as well. Although, I have to say the weightlifting commentators are so annoying! Well, ok, Dean Lukin is good the other guy should be shot. Arrgghhh!! Anyway, i'm addicted Cat

I am in agreement with Bunne and Unykorn I'm not really into the games. And it means that there are fifty million road blocks all around the city. (But I was cheering at the TV for the womens marathon )

I'm in the spirit!!! Go the Games! Oh and Cat I'm with you, I love the EAD races. It's just feels so right to have them in the Games, instead of seperately! If they're no different, then why do they need a seperate games???
Awesome!

Well, it is harder at the Olympics because there are so many more competitors if they tried to have ALL of the normal Olympics competitors and ALL of the EAD (which I've remembered stands for Elite Athletes with a Disability) it would go forever. Paralympics goes for at least a week, doesn't it? And then don't they have Deaf Olympics and so on? But yes, I love it being at the same time! And they're getting some pretty good coverge, although I wish they'd explain what all the S's are. I mean, it's all well and good for us to understand that they're racing agaist their own world record and that they're in diferent classes, but I'd like to know what their classes are rather than going "Oh, that's nice, she's an S9. ... What's an S9 though?!" Oh well Cat

i have a bit of a crush on House. NO WAY!!! You like House too!!! Now that is just uncanny ... Although, I don't think I'm as obsessed with X-men as you are Is it just me, or is the swimming always on? Whenever i flick past channel nine, it's always the swimming! So when's the EAD on? Do they just do it at the same time as the other things? i don't think I've ever watched them, they don't make as much fuss about them as they do with the other events. But I do agree, they shouldn't be considered any different

For the first few days swimming was on a lot but it ends tomorrow (?) and now athletics is being on a lot more. EAD is spread throughout but there aren't that many events. We did win an EAD swimming final the other night though Cat

The cycling came close to my flat today. I watched some wizz past on Beach Road (Bayside), but I think I missed the peleton - only small groups of a few cyclists came past at random intervals. Still, I can say I saw something of the games!

Lol I have seen no events, though one of my sisters friends got Delta Goodrem's autograph at the Opening Ceremony Sorry Cat, but I'm still not in the spirit. I'm sure it's shrunk since the last time I tried it on.
