Can I comment that lyric comps like this are a little bit... er.. pointless seeing as you can easily just Google the lyrics to find out what song it is...

Alright, here's a way to combat any of the 'cheating' that Avra and Lauren mentioned. I took some song lyrics, translated them from English to Dutch, Dutch to French and French back to English. This was done hereAs a result, it's much harder to guess the song, unless of course it's hella easy like this one. Is the this true life? Is this imagination only? in a landslide, not flight of reality. Your opened eyes, the attitude with hemelen and to see, one bad lot, I am only me do not need sympathy, because I do not come easy am important easily, go élevément, little, layer little, any manner the layers of effective wind to me, with me am.So yeah, there's my example. I don't mean to skip the line or anything. It's just a suggestion if you want to make it more challenging. The poster has to go to a bit more effort though.

I love that idea galligaskins! I though of another last night. I don't know if anyone else here watches Spicks and Specks but they play a game where they have to match the misheard lyrics (known as a Mondegreen)...with the song. So for example
Australians all are ostriches, Four minus one is three
Comes from the Australian National Anthem and is actually 'Australians all let us rejoice, for we are young and free'
It could be fun...although on second thoughts it could be hard to find the mondegreens.

Thanks Avra! ;D And yes, the song in the example was indeed Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody as the good Kayt pointed out. Gotta love a band that combines jumpsuits with half mic stands. Hehe. So...*twiddles thumbs* How should this progress? Should we go with the translation idea, the mondegreen idea [which by the way purps is SEXCELLENT! I love Spicks and Specks...Mmm, Adam Hills] or just continue with straight out lyrics? And who's go is it anyway? Am I asking too many questions? Why are we here? Are you there God? It's me...okay I'll stop!

I love Bohemian Rhapsody so much. It's the ultimate I'm-camping-with-a-bunch-of-my-musical-friends-so-we-might-as-well-sing-whilst-we-cycle kind of song, or a exams-are-over-lets-make-as-much-noise-as-we-can-as-we-dance-around song (not that we did that today...*looks around shiftily*)
And galli Adam Hills is truly wonderful, I'm so sad Spicks and Specks is over.
Ummm..back on topic. I think we should do anything we want woth the lyrics to disguise them a bit. So each person can choose whether they go with a translation or a mondegreen or anything else they can think of, and then if they don't tell everyone what they've done to the lyrics it'll make it even more challenging. What do other people think?

Or a "hey let's sing it for karaoke at a friend's birthday party with all their family members looking on and wincing, yeah that probably wasn't a good idea" kind of song!
Oh he's so great! But there's going to be a Christmas Special! And a second season! I can't wait for it. Although I hope it doesn't get too competitve over time, it's more fun when they're just all making fun of each other. ;D
I think that's a fine idea purplecrayon! It sounds good to me. Do you want to have a go? Or is it Lix's turn because she actually got the ones that Rift initially provided?

hmmm, that could've been awkward. I can't wait for the Christmas special! What really gets me is when I actually know the answers to some of the more obscure questions. I hope next season's just as good...and Subsitute's absolutely hilarious.
I'd have to day I reckon it's Lix's turn as she got the original one...onto you good Lix

A Mondegreen is a song lyric that has been misheard so it takes on a different meaning (the word comes from 'The Bonnie Earl 'O Murray in which one of the lines 'and laid him on the green' was heard as 'and Lady Mondegreen').
So for example (whilst we're on the Bohemian Rhapsody theme): 'Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me' could be 'Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard'
So, is anyobody going to get this game rolling?

My friend has a book of mondegreens..
And I have no idea about the one above this...

Hmm is it "you got the music in you" from that song...argh! Can't remember...something like "you always get what you give?" Or was that just another line from the song?
