I've been downloading guitar chords for my favourite songs from the net (I'm an amateur guitarist you see) and I really love the song Clocks by Coldplay. It would be a great one for our music class to do. But can anyone tell me what this means??:

They're guitar tabs I gather but I have no idea how to read/play/use them

which relates to the strings of the guitar. The number refers to what fret you play on, then you just follow the order the numbers are played.

Edit: I've found that this tab is pretty accurate

Go to mp3.com. You will have to pay to download it, but you should be able to play it on the internet to just hear it again.

Also, if you're just starting out with guitar it's prolly best to start with rhythym pieces...what you've got there looks like lead. While you'll be able to ge it coz you're already musical, it might not sound that great. If you want to sing with it, I recommend get a tab that's got straight chords you can play rather than the TAB version of it (I've been playing for about 7 years).

EG: yours and HoD's tab above seems to be single notes that the guitarist picks out, right? Good if you're in a band, but if you're on your own, it'll sound very hollow.

Try this link - not only does it have the lyrics but all the chords used. If you're playing solo, and wanting to sing with it, you'll get better results using this type of representation.
The best part is you dicate the rhythm, so it's more creative from your point of view.
