I think it's great that people are putting pressure on magazines using real looking people rather than just pencil thin models. But how they go about it really bugs me. There's all this "well, a size 6 isn't even healthy" and "REAL women have curves" stuff going around saw this poster today about what a perfect world would be like, and one thing on there said "Barbie would wear a size 14." I must say I disagree. In a perfect world, if there were Barbies, they would come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. It seems like the new movement is bashing thin girls and trying to make them feel like it's their fault that a decent number of larger women have a lower body image. I can't help the way I look any more than anyone else can help the way they look. I'm slightly small, and don't eat alot - but i'm not anorexic! I think it's about time the fashion world attributed physical beauty to being healthy and confident rather than being lucky enough to have nature bless you with certain attributes.
What do you think?

I totally agree. This whole "real woman" thing sh!ts me as well. Like i am a curvy girl and i like my curves, but im not gonna walk up to someone who's a size six and put them down cause they aren't "real". You are right it is still a form of body image discrimination, and i also agree that in a real world barbie would come in all shapes and sizes

I am so over this u r too thin or too fat thing. I am curvy size 14 to 16 and I figure that I do sport and just because I am curvy doesnt mean I am unhealthy and fat. I agree ith putting "real women" in magazines but not to the extent that these ppl end up not being real themselves. I think A little bit of everything would suffice, If the world was a lot more compassionate and a lot more judgemental I think we wouldnt have half the population biting their nails because they are too thin or fat.

There was another long thread about this somewhere on here. I think people were planning a website in protest.
Can anyone remember what the thread was called?
