I'm a poor, hopeless uni student, who has recently moved out of college and now has to fend for my little self. After 2 months, I'm kinda beginning to struggle in the cuisine department - everything I cook is getting too boring! At the moment, I'm stuck with meat and veg, spag bol, and stir frys. So, I'm asking, nay begging for anyone who has some simple recipes that I can add to my repetoire Marinades, sauces, casseroles, DESSERTS , etc... Please help satisfy my stomach!

I’m not good at giving instructions but hope you get the point…
Potato Omelet (serves for 2) Needs: 3 Potatoes 4 Eggs Oil Salt Steps: Peel and slice the potatoes like French fries and fry them. After that, place the fried chips in another frying pan – laid out straight. In a bowl mix 4 eggs, a little salt and add it on the potatoes. When one side is cooked, use a plate to rotate it. And Eat…
Hope that helps!

They cook the banas in the sauce on your stove theyre done when the banas are starting to go a bit muchy. throw them on some pancakes or just eat them by themselves, sprinkle with cocnut if u like. they're just really yummy as a dessrt thing. ooh you could even eat them with icecream lol

If you like tuna, you could always cook up some rice and dump a little tin of tuna in, especially those flavoured ones. It's really simple.

Quiche! I love this, it's simple, i suppse... This serves five, but the good thing about it is you can freeze or put in fridge and have hot lunches and dinners where you can't be screwed! Unfortunately i'm a bitza chef, so you'll have to bear with me!!
6 eggs Milk
5 rashes of bacon 1 onion
self raising flour
short crust or puff pastry sheets (depends on what you prefer, i like puff, and it is cheaper ) grated cheese, or any cheese really, tasty is what i prefer, but anything works.
you need a frying pan, an oven and a pie dish, retangular usually, but anything will do. the one i use is about 20x30 and is 5 deep, oh and a bowl and a whisky thing, be it electric or otherwise, i use a whisk whick non electric thing, but what ever you have on hand will work
okay, Take pastry sheets out of freezer and turn oven to 180C
1.dice the onion and bacon and fry them
2.put the eggs (minus the shells ) into the bowl and whisk them until they are all mixed. Add milk and whisk until it is a sort of light orange yellow not too light tho, the colour should be solid (now you see where my bitza comes in) i think i use about 1 cup to 1 and a half, but i could be wrong! Whisk them all up until you get the frothy bubbles on the top, but you can go for a while, the more you do, the fluffier the quiche will be.
3.Put the pastry into the dish, covering all of it in one layer (a pie bottom) making sure there is not surface of the pie dish showing on the inside (if you can, beforehand, spray they pie dish with canola oil anti-stick spray it helps to get it out later, but if you don't have it, don't stress!!)
4. in the pie dish pastry stuff put about 3 handfuls of self raising flour and 2 handfuls of grated cheese and mix them together. (the cheese and the flour that is)
5. take the fried bacon and onion and pour them evenly over the pie dish, then pour the egg and milk mix over the top. then mix it all carefully in, if you don't it will have clumps of self raising flour and that always makes me cough
put in the oven for about 45-60mins. Be sure to turn it about half way. How you can tell it is ready is if you jiggle the dish, and if the mixture wiggles with it, it isn't cooked.
(it really is a bitza recipe, i tend to just dig through my freezer and see what's there.... some time mushrooms end up in this, or tomotoes... i always like to throw a bit of basil in with the frying bacon and onion and a little pasley in with the egg mix, but that's me! and i know it seems like a lot, but it really isn't , and it is well worth it, trust me!!)
And dessert...
well, this is p!ss easy, really
maranges (i can't even spell the damn things!!)
3 egg whites (if you get even a sliver of yolk it won't work!! Do you know how to seperate them? if you don't, just say, it's really easy)
3/4 cup castor sugar
oven 120C
1. whip egg whites (you do need an electric beater for this) until you get stiff peaks (that it, you lift the beaters out of the mix when they're off mind you, and the mix stays the way you left it)
2. gradually start to pour in the sugar, and then keep mixing until it is all disolved. this usually takes 10 minutes, so don't be hesitant about tossing that sugar in or else you'll be mising for an eternity!! every now and again, you check the level of sugar in the mix by eating a bit. If it is grainy, it's not good! keep mixing!!
3. Put baking paper on a tray, and put the mix on it however you want. Best way is in a flat nest like way, so you can top it up with whipped cream and strawberries and cracked bit of flake chocolate after
4. Put the tray in the oven, you can tell when it's cooked when you can tap the marange and it doesn't crackle, but has a hard shell.
6. take them out and leave them to cool on a cooling rack, or any other substitute DON"T EAT THEM HOT WHATEVER YOU DO otherwise they taste like scramble eggs gone bad. You have to wait until they are entirely cool before you can eat them!!
Pancakes!!!!
How can you live without them!!!
Okay Flit's Pancakes, a perfected recipe, passed down from scot to scot over the ages you should try my shortbread, but i can't tell you the recipe of that, family secret that is
anyway, pancakes
self raising flour milk 1 egg for 1-2 people 2 eggs for anything higher, no more than two eggs unless you are cooking for 20 or more people!
okay, again i bitza this one, so i'm guessing
1. add the self raising flour, i usually go about 1 cup per person.
2. add the egg and mix it in. Then slowly add the milk. Now, be careful with the milk. the consistancy you want is no really think, but not at all runny. When you take the whisk out of the bowl, it needs to slide off, not dribble or glunk. (god i'm good with descriptions...)
3. cook away!!
Sauce for Pancakes this is what makes it a dessert, and man i can be decadent, so give this a go, it is extrememly rich, but worth it!!
strawberries castor sugar water (now, this is the bad bit, if you want ot be really really really bad, use some kind of spirit, i like gin or rum, but that's being REALLY BAD ;D) icing sugar
in a saucepan on moderate heat, add chopped strawberries, coat them in castor sugar (be very generous) and add a little bit of water. not too much water, the strawberries will supply everything you need in that sense.(and if you do use alcohol, you could drown out the taste of the strawberries!!)
keep stirring until all the sugar has melted, and the berries are gelatenous looking. DON'T BOIL you'll burn it, and yourself if you do!!
Pour over pancake tower, and sprinkle with icing sugar.
BE CAREFUL this stuff can get third-degree burning hot if you let it boil or come close... but damnit, it is worth it
hope these help!! If you want me to try and be a bit more specific about sizings, do tell, i'll work it out.. i'll just have to fumble about my kitchen to do so...
Have fun!!

Ooh, I do like the sound of that quichey thing, Flit. I might have to try it myself, if I can stop being so lazy about cooking.
Hehe - it's "geranium easy"! I love the censor.

Another quiche!! I've found these really easy quiches recently that don't need any crust-making, just lob it all in together. 4 eggs 1 cup of milk 1/2 cup of flour 3/4 teaspoon of salt cheese onion garlic broccoli asparagus tomato/sundried tomato capsicum etc anything you think would be nice in a quiche - cook the onion & garlic in a little butter until they smell nice - mix up the eggs, milk, salt and flour. - add the fried onions/garlic and the veges. - put loads of cheese on top, lob into the oven @ 220 degrees (Celcius) for about 35 minutes or until browned on top. It's so ridiculously easy, even a drunk person can make it Plus if you use no-fat milk, light cheese and wholemeal flour, it's virtually fat-free, plus has loads of protein and good stuff. I make a lasagne tray of it and then eat a bit at a time - bless microwaves

Two words: Pasta. Pesto.
Just buy pesto, and stir it through cooked-pasta. You can add other things, such as pre-cooked mince or bacon.
Easy as geranium!!!

heyyy avra i am a very keen cook and do it a lot. my advice. get a few recipes that are simple, but just experiment! if you starve because what you cook is poisounous it doesnt matter. but yeah. all you need to know is how to saute onions. from there you can go anywhere. oh and a good place to start is cooking curries (if you like curries) because their pretty simple. and you can do lots of different things. ahhhh i love love love cooking. i cook many things. but this weekend im going to go back to basics and make a trifle. mmmm trifle
