My weekend starts tomorrow (I have fridays off) and I have so much luddarn work to do for uni! Also, there is a public holiday on monday, so I get A FOUR DAY WEEKEND! Time to go home and slog some serious hours with my essays. Uni is freaky. Never before have my time negotiating skills been so challenged. However, as I type I am avoiding reading for the next lecture. Which is BAD because it's my favourite subject!!!! I need a break. A long weekend to get caught up on everything. Other uni students, does this ever stop? Ashta

I need one of those... I need to raise enough money to go to Egypt, Greece and Rome at the end of my first degree and then either come back and do a Phd, or a teaching degree... I need a job! (Says she whos doing a Bachelor of Arts = Bachelor of Attendance)

I am going to go now, so I have 15 minutes to skim read before the lecture, and then I shall be enjoying my four day weekend without net access to prevent me from procrastinating like I just have!
*toddles off to lecture*

*is glad that she works full time* ... *rethinks* All I remember from uni is having to travel so much to get there, and most of the time I just found my friends, slept through geology or physics lectures and then skived the entire afternoon at the shopping centre. Twas fun and people wonder why I didn't finish my degree...now that I work I can afford to live close to where I work, hence minimising fuel and travel time, and maximising sleep time ;D Uh yeah...work rocks. Good luck with all your uni work though. I'm looking forward to the weekend because I've got Glynnavyre's Tropical 21st tomorrow night! It's gonna be a blast!

It never stops Ashta... if anything it just gets worse but eventually you get a sense for what is the minimal amount of work necesssary to achieve what you want... which readings are worth doing before a tut and which worth skipping completely. And the value of sleep after staying up all night doing stupid essays.
I have 8 hours contact time (good old Arts degree), spread over four days instead of a sensible three. Not entirely pleased about that. I suppose I still have a three day weekend... only I'm working Friday and Saturday then attending soccer and a birthday party on the Sunday.

Am I going to the bludge uni or something?
It REALLY doesn't take that much work. I'm probably being a bad influence, but I find if you read only half the tute readings, you'll be fine.
Starting assignments nice and early might seem like a good idea at the time, but you only spread the stress out over a number of weeks. Better to stress like crazy for the last four or five days.
If you miss a lecture, you can usually get by without catching up. It's really only the tute stuff that goes into the exam.
I've never realised before exactly how bad my study habits are!!! I'm extremely badly behaved!!! Don't follow my advice! It's naughty!!!

Hehe - I'm a bit of Kayt's opinion here. The most time-consuming part of uni for me was the travel. One a half hours there and back (if everything connected properly). And I basically didn't do any work until I absolutely had to. By "absolutely had to" I mean "the absolute last minute, including the 3,500 word short story I wrote the morning it was due". I wasn't good with deadlines. I'm not fantastic with them now, but I'm getting better. ...I have decide to go the way of TAFE by doing a Multimedia Cert4 course and then a diploma in the same area. SO, I think TAFE's a great option. I did my Diploma of Library and Information Services there and it was fantastic. I think you're more likely to get a job as a result of a TAFE course than a uni degree... but that's because I did Arts, I guess.

Forgive me, good Kayt. Pay me no heed - I know you'll make it as a world-renowned script-writer very soon. * grugs*

dont you mean world renowned scriptwriter, novellist and actress buneater
i decided to go for a few drinks with some friends once they had all finished school and work yesterday. but after about an hour one of them disappeared with my, supposed bf who im not really talking to atm, which basically killed my mood, especially when he said hes seriously thinking about moving to brisbane. when i mentioned that i thought there was something else interested in me, (ok maybe trying to get him to start thinking about how much hes hurting me, but the hint was there to start with( it only made it worse.
so i had a crappy start to the weekend, which is only made worse by the thought that im gonna lose my guy completely. the worst part is i cant talk to him about it til like sunday night cos hes at a friends place for the weekend, and i know calling him there will only make it a hell of a lot worse

I am looking forward to Uni, although I am a little worried about my studying skills. Trisfit will be doing the same degree though so I'm sure that will help, he is a great studier, and gets dux everywhere he goes.

lol. Yeah, I just find that I want to do REALLY well (competative spirit) but at the moment I'm just not focused enough. Sleep and Stargate are my priorities, and i think one of them is dodgy! I'm learning to get by on about 8-6hours sleep, but I'm not working as much as i should. I mean, there's one girl in my Ancient Civs tut who just hijacks it and rambles on. Ludcurse it, I'm supposed to be the evil know it all, suck up!!!!!! *sigh* I guess I got used to being a big fish in a little pond, and now I'm a little fish in a big pond. It's like starting highschool all over again.
Oh well, tonight is food shopping and Stargate.... And of course a few hours worth of hard core study! Somewhere. And then a three day weekend. Lud bless the Arts Degree!
