You may remember, several months ago, we came up with an idea. We were talking about what choice we would make if our country was ever invaded.
Then we thought it might be fun to write a collection of stories based on the concept.
Clare asked me about it at 1:00 this arvo. It is now 9:45, and I am opening the project officially. We now have a website, an LJ Community and a Plan.
So, if anyone is interested, please visit the exciting new website for:
If you want in, then let me know on this thread, and I'll work on getting some sort of system going. You could also email me. Remember, this whole concept is a work in progress, so I need input from you all to make it work.
You don't have to be a writer to join up. Please, have a go and add your own distinct personality to the collection.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask!!!

Sorry, I had to edit this - Brownie is still in, but I'm going to say its a no from me for the moment...it's likely I'll change my mind but for the time being, count me out. I'm trying to concentrate on school because I'd really rather I didn't fail this year, trying to concentrate on my friends and their somewhat complicated lives and trying to deal with a few family issues, as well as trying to stick to my New Years Resolution of actually finishing a story of my own for a change. Tough stuff.

Question - have we been overtaken by non-English speakers, or native English-speakers? I'm asking in reference to language barriers. (I reckon native English speakers, but what does everyone else think?)

That's a question for the LJ community, Min.
I'm about to update the site, to include a link and instructions on what the community is for and how to officially register interest.
Brydie: Don't worry if you don't want in. We might keep going for a long time. Let me know if you ever decide to sign up! I'd love to see you there!

That looks awesome! I'd really love to get involved - but like Brydie, I'm going to have to decline atm I want to, but just don't think I'd have the time. Good luck with it, it's an excellent idea!! FtS

That's okay, Lauren. Let me know as soon as you want in.
Now, I've updated the website, with details of exactly how to sign up officially. That way I can keep everything organised, and I've provided information about our LJ Community.
So, check it out all.
PS. Min, I already signed you up officially!

Well, I'll consider myself in as one of the administrators of the project (and resident LJ expert... ). If you need iconage or any help with LJ or the LorF community, come to me! It's possible I may take on a role in the project later on, but at the moment, I have dozens of other writing projects I need to work on. * cough* seconddraftofblackfiddle* cough*

...I really shouldn't be doing this...
But I've thought about it even more, and after an oddly coincidental conversation I had last night with my parents about freedom and equality etc, I've gotten some good ideas, and I've decided I am in, after all. I can tell already that I'm going to regret it, but it's such a good idea that can't say no:)
I officially Pledge!
and now, to the wonderous world of LJ...

I'm confused about the difference between Your Life and Your Freedom... Surely you need your life to play the freedom side also? Are the freedom people fighters and the life peopple now like slaves or something? Would they be able to change?

The concept of choosing between Your Life or Your Freedom is this:
Which is more important to you?
If you choose your life, then you'll probably end up a slave. But you'll be have food, you'll have a roof over your head, and clothes to wear. Above all, you have a pretty good guarantee that you'll be allowed to live a long life.
If you choose your freedom, then your life-expectancy is low. You'll almost certainly die a violent death. You're risking your life in the pursuit of something that's more important to you.
You might start your story as a slave, and become a rebel during the course of the story. That might be very interesting. In that case, I'd say you've chosen Freedom, becasue the story is about how you come to put your freedom before your life.
Basically, ask yourself that question before you start. What matters most? Your Life or Your Freedom?

One of the best ways to tell what side of the coin you'd be on is a life or death scenario.
Imagine you've been taken prisoner by the Enemy, they have a knife at your throat and are demanding that you reveal the secret hideout of the Freedom Fighters. If you give them the information they want, thereby saving your own life (and maybe your family's) then you chose Life but if you chose to die instead of revealing the location so that others might have the chance of equality and civil rights then you chose freedom.

But Min's says Life (for now)... I don't know if I might want to become a freedom fighter. Wouldn't it all depend on the story? I mean, I'm 15, I've probably chosen life but wish I could be freedom, but there's no way I could right now. Or, circumatances or whathaveyou...
Cat - I'm not trying to be difficult! I promise!
