"i think we got off on the wrong foot" argh! i mean... where did that come from. i dont understand. how can a phrase as ridiculous as that, become a polite & sophisticated thing to say? it bugged me the other day, i was randomly thinking and that popped into my mind. where did it come from? anyone else have some unbelievably quirky phrases that have slipped into the english language?

Well, as i said before in the 'Sports' thread started by Knight82, i dont undertand 'horseback' riding.
How else are you meant to ride a horse? You wouldnt say 'I went carseat driving yesterday' would you?!
